Description
J. C. MYERS & J. E. MILLIGAN.
TRUCK.
APPLICATION FILED 05c. 2I. I9I5.
Patented Oct. 3,
UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
JUNNIUS C. MYERS AND JOHN E. MILLIGAN, 015 LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA.
TRUCK.
To all whom '1' 6 may concern:
Be it known that we, JUNmUs C. MY- ERS and JOHN E. MILLIGAN, citizens of the United States, residing at Los Angeles, in the county of Los Angeles, State of California, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Trucks; and we do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.
This invention relates to improvements in trucks.
One object of the invention is to provide a truck which is particularly adapted for use in hotels or large boarding houses for conveying tools and materials for cleaning the different rooms and for conveying clean bed linen and towels while at the same time providing for the reception of the soiled linen and towels and the refuse gathered from the rooms.
Another object is to provide a device of this character which is simple in construction, easy and convenient in operation for movement from one room to another and which can be manufactured and sold at a comparatively low cost.
Other objects and advantages will be apparent from the following description when taken in connection with the accompanying drawing.
In the drawing: Figure 1 is a side elevation of our improved truck, Fig. 2 is a top plan view, Fig. 3 is a front elevation, and Fig. 4 is a longitudinal section on the line 4-4 of Fig. 2.
Referring particularly to the accompanying drawing, 10 represents the body of the truck which is mounted on the. caster wheels 11. This body has its upper part divided into a plurality of open-topped compartments 12 for the reception of bed linen, and towels. The lower portion is provided w th compartments 13 having the doors 14 1501 closing the same. On the side of the body opposite to the doors 14, and at the upper portion thereof, the same is cutaway as at 15 and in this cutaway portion are a plurality of compartments 16 for the reception of waste-paper, sweepings, and other like Within the compartment 16 is a receptacle 16, which is adapted to be removed Specification of Letters Patent.

from the truck through an opening in the side thereof and controlled by a hinged door 14.
On opposite ends of the body are the ledges or platforms 17 and 18 respectively, the former of which is arranged to support a removable receptacle 19 having an upper separable compartment 20, the bottom of which is perforated. This receptacle is adapted for the reception of a wet refuse,
the same being poured into the upper com-- partment so that the liquid will pass through to the lower compartment while the solids remain in the upper compartment. Over the ledge 15 is a tray 21 for the reception of cleaning compounds. On the opposite side of thebody, and over the platform 18 there are secured a pair of brackets 22 having resilient gripping jaws 23 for engaging the handles of a mop, broom and a carpet sweeper.
It will thus be seen that we have provided a novel and convenient device for use by the servants in hotels, or large roominghouses which will greatly facilitate the cleaning of the rooms, the changing of the bed linen, and in caring for the soiled clothing and the refuse gathered from the rooms. The device is of such nature that it can be quickly and easily pushed along a hall from one room to another so that it will be within convenient use of the user.
' What is claimed is:
A truck comprising a caster supported body, said body including a plurality of compartments accessible from the topr of the body, and compartments accessible JUNNIUS G. MYERS. JOHN E. MILLIGAN. Witnesses:
