Be it known that I, RETTA L. MGKAY, a citizen of the United States, residing at Newburgh, in the county of Orange and State of New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Renovators and Dust-Collectors, of which the 'following "s a. specification.

My invention relates to lmprovements in renovators and vdust collectors, the present embodiment of the invention being particularly designed and ada ted for use in the renovation or cleaning of what are known as dustless iioor mops and sweepers, the improved device being adapted not only to effectually remove the dust from such articles but to provide a sanitary dust receiving and containing receptacle for the dust removed therefrom.

The primary object ofthe invention is to provide a generally improved device of this class which will be exceedingly simple in construction, cheap of manufacture, and efficient in use.

A still fu ther object of the invention is the provisio of an improved receptacle provided with an improved removable cleaner member or screen dividing the receptacle into communicating article and dust receiving chambers, the latter being adapted to receive and contain a suitable sterilizing vliquid or agent, or, if desired, wat-er may be placed in such dust receiving and containing chamber and be heated to a boiling point.

With the above mentioned and other ends in view, the invention consists in the novel construction, arrangement, and combination in the appended claim.

As a means of removably supporting the cleaner member 4, in proper position within the receptacle l, the side walls of the latter are preferably provided with supporting lugs 1b, which latter may be struck out of the material of the side Walls as shown most clearly in Fig. 3, of the drawings.

As a means of securing or anchorinor the article or device While the mop or artic e being cleaned is reciprocated upon the cleaner member 4, and within the article receiving cleaner chamber 2, the bottom of the receptacle l, is preferably provided at one side with a hinged flap 5, adapted to be folded down upon the Hoor as shown in Figs. l, 2, and 3, of the drawings, and to be engaged by the foot of the operator while the mop or article is being cleaned, and when not in use, said hinged flap or member, is adapted to be folded up and to be engaged in such position by means of the button 5, in an obvious and well understood manner.

As a means o enabling the article or mop being treated to be reciprocated within the cleaner chamber 2, and upon the cleaner member 4, the cover 6, is provided with a handle receiving'slot or opening 6a. ln the form shown in Fig. 1, of the drawings the parts are secured to the sides of the body or receptacle l, by means of hinges 6", So that the parts of the cover maybe removed or folded back to receivethe mop or article inchamber 2, the latter cover 6, may be secured in the position shown in Fig. 3, of the drawings through the medium of the dependingl flange 6, which fits into the upper marginal edges of thereceptacle or body 1, so that the article may be readily reciprocated over and above the cleaner member or screen 4, in an obvious and well understood manner. lf desired the dust receiving chamber 3, may be provided with a suitable disinfecting agent, or after dust has been collected in the chamber 3, hot water may be introduced therein, or Water may be placed therein and the receptacle heated until the water is brought to a boiling point.

the operation and advantages of my invention W'ill be readily understood.

Having thus described one of the embodiments of my invention, what I claim and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is.-

A renovator and dust collector, comprising a rectangular receptacle, a foraminous cleaner member removably mounted therein forming conjointly therewith a dust receiving chamber, and a removable cover placed above said cleaner member forming an arcleaner chamber, said cover providing a andle receiving slotwhereby the article being treated may be reciprocated in said cleaner chamber.
