DENTAL TOILET-CASE.
' Patented Ap1.e,192o.
Appncafin aled April 2e, 191s. serial No. 230,954.
and the primary object of the invention is to provide an improved individual toilet case for personal use for holding tooth brushes and the like so as to dispense with the usual method prevailing among families of placing all of the tooth brushes in the same compartment and thereby eliminating the possibility of others using the same brush and spreading disease.
Another object of the invention is the provision of an improved toilet case for individual use, 'which includes a plurality of compartments adapted to receive the tooth brush, paste, vdental floss, quill picks and the like.
A further object of the invention is the provision of an improved individual toilet case having improved means for supporting the same upon a flat surface and an improved means for securing the same upon an elevated support.
A still further object of the invention is the provision of an improved individual toilet case of the above character, which is durable and efficient in use, one that is simple and easy to manufacture, and one that can be placed upon the market at a reasonable cost.
lith these and other objects in view, the invention consists in the novel construction, arrangement and formation of parts, as will be hereinafter more specifically described, claimed and illustrated in the accompanying drawing forming a part thereof, in which:
Figure 1 is a perspective view of the improved toilet case,
Fig. 2 is a vertical longitudinal section taken through the improved cabinet, and
Fig. 3 is a vertical transverse section taken through the improved cabinet.
Referring to the drawing in detail, wherein similar reference numeralsdesignate corresponding parts throughout the several views, the numeral 1 generally indicates the improved cabinet, which may be made of any preferred material such as enameled metal or glass, and includes a substantially rectangular receptacle having the rear wall 2, the upper and lower walls 8 and 4, and the side walls rIhe front wall is arranged to be left open and to be closed by suitable means which will be hereinafter more fully described.
The receptacle is arranged to be divided into a plurality of compartments and `the lower portion of the same is divided by a horizontal partition 6, which forms a lower compartment in which is slidably mounted a drawer 7 having a handle 8, for facilitating insertionand removal of the same from the compartment. The drawer 7 is divided by a partition 7a, which forms a pair of compartments 7b and 7 and the larger compartment is arranged to receive quill picks 9 or the like,'however the same can be used for any preferred articles. A vertical partition 10 is positioned adjacent to one side wall 5 of the receptacle and forms a relatively narrow compartment 11 and a relatively wide compartment 12 and the compartment 11 has secured thereto a hook or other suitable support 13 for receiving a tooth brush 14. This compartment 11 may also receive the tooth paste tube 15 but if so desired a separate compartment can be provided for the paste. The side wall 5 forming a portion of the compartment 11 is provided with a plurality of apertures 5", so as to permit the circulation of air through the compartment, so as to allow the tooth brush to readily dry. The compartmenty Tb of the drawer is arranged to receive a suitable disinfectant or sterilizer 7d and a perforated plate 7e is arranged to close the upper end of the compartment and the perforations in the plate are adapted to register with the perforations Ga formed in the bottom of the compartment 11. This allows the brush to be kept in a sweet and sanitary condition at all times.
If so desired the drawer 7 can be dispensed with, so as to make the case smaller, thereby permitting the more convenient use of the same, by travelers or the like. The relatively large compartment 12 is divided by a central horizontal partition 16 and these compartments are adapted to receive jars of dental floss or the like. The compartments 11 and l2 are adapted t0 be closed by a door 17 which is hinged at its longitudinal edge by suitable hinges 18 to one of the side walls 5 and the door is provided with a suitable handle 19, whereby the same can be readily swung open.
When it is desired to hang the improved individual toilet case on the wall, eyes 20 are provided which are adapted to engage hooks or the like secured in the wall and these eyes are adapted to be hinged as at 21. to the rear upper edge of the receptacle so that the same can be swung flush with the top thereof. These eyes, if so desired, can be pivoted to the rear wall and swung flush with the same. v
When it is desired to position the cabinet on a fiat surface, an additional support 22 is provided for forming a larger supporting base and it consists of a relatively thin flat plate hinged at its lower edge as at 23 to the lower edge of the rear wall 2 and thev plate is arranged to be drawn downwardly and extend flush with the bottom 4. An arm 2l is pivoted as at 25 to the inner face of the plate 22 and has its free end sharpened 'and is arranged to engage a rack bar 26 and holds the same 1n its extended position.
From the foregoing description taken in connection with the drawing, it can be seen that an improved toilet case is provided which is especially adapted for individual use, for holding tooth brushes and other personal articles, so as to protect the same from dirt, dust and the like and prevent other people from accidentally using the same. In practice, I have found that the form of .my invention illustrated in the accompanying drawing and referred to in the above de* scrption, as the preferred embodiment, is the most efficient and practical; yet-realizing -the conditions concurrent with the adoption. of my device will necessarily vary, I desire to emphasize that variousI minor changes in details of construction, proportion and arrangement of parts may be resorted to, when required, without sacrificing any of the advantages of my invention as set forth. Y
What I claim as new is:
A toilet cabinet constructed for individual use comprising a receptacle having a plurality of compartments, one of said' compartments being arranged to receive atoothbrush or the like and having a plurality of openings formed in the lower wal-l thereof, a sliding drawer arranged in the cabinet below the compartment containing the toothbrush, and a sterilizer compartment carried by the'I drawer and having a plurality of openings formed in the upper wall thereof arranged to register with the openings formed in the lower wall of the toothbrush compartment when the vdrawer is in operative position, so as to permit the toothbrush compartment to communicate with the sterilizer compartment for keeping the toothbrushes in a sanitary condition.
` In testimony whereof I afIiX my signature in presence of two witnesses.
