lVhen assembling the respective parts of the garment it is preferable not to secure the edges ot the sections l and the edges 13 oi the front sections ll for their entire length, but to terminate the securing together of these edges at a pointslightly remote trom the lower ends of the portions of the garment and to tace the lovver edges ot the leg portions of the garment with the bands 2?), so that` the lower ends of the leg portions oli the garment may be retained in snug engagement with the leg ot' the. wearer by overlapping the portions l that are provided upon the leg portions l of the rear sections l upon the adjacent portions of the leg portions l2 of the from; sections l1 and securing the portions Z-l thereon by means of the buttons "25 or other suitable securing means7 and it is desirable to secure together the overlapping meeting edges 2 of the rear sections l by the button and buttonhole 2G or other suitable securing means, and to also secure together the overlappingmeeting edges 19 of the front sections 11 through the medium of the buttons and buttonholes 27 or other suitable securing means.
From the ltnegoing it will be seen that by cutting the parts oit the garment from the sheet oi? material Q8, as clearly shown in Fig. 4;, We are enabled to provide a garment requiring; only seven parts formed in such manner that the parts, especially the parts constituting the rear sections l, will be so Jformed with respect to the warp and wett threads ot the material that the same vvill possess the necessary flexibility or yieldability to accommodate the various movements ot' the body of the wearer Without the necessity of ei'nployi'ng gores or gussets or inserts of any nature to provide the necessary elasticity to the garment as is now indispensable in the construction of the garments novT npon the market, and at the same time by this method the cutting of the parts of the, garment out the material is made possible vvith an exceedingly minimum amount of Waste and, therefore, the garment can be more cheaply produced.
Having described our invention, what We claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
l. The method of producing a union garment consisting of cutting Yfrom a strip of material the back sections extending lengthwise of the Warp thereof in reverse position7 and cutting the front portions of the garment in parallel positions extending lengthwise of the 'warp oi the material beyond the body portion ot' the bach sections.
i2. The method et' producing a Vunion garment consisting of cutting from a strip of material the back sections extending lengthwise ot the Warp thereof in reverse position, cutting the front portions of the garment in parallel positions extending lengthwise et the warp ot the material beyond the body portion of the back sections, cutting the yoke section from the material at the opposite end of said body portion from the front sections, and cutting arm sections in parallel positions extending with the weft of the material at one side of the lront section.
in testimony whereoi We have signed our names to this specification in the presence of tivo subscribing Witnesses.
