TOY CAR.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Ibec. 4, 191'?.
Application filed February 20, 1917. Serial No. 149,730.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, JULIUs CHEIN, a citizen of the United States of America, residing at No. 175 S. Mountain avenue, Montclair, in the county of Essex, State of New Jersey, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Toy Cars, of which the following is a specification.
My invention relates to improvements in toy cars and the object of my invention is to provide a novel and attractive toy. l
I accomplish this object by the device illustrated in the accompanying drawings in which- Figure 1 is a view of the blank forming the sides and end sections.
Fig. 2 is a view of the blank forming the floor section, and
Fig. 3 is a view oi the car assembled.
Similar characters refer to similar parts throughout the several views.
The blank forming the floor section of my improved device is provided with a central section 1 and counterpart bent over marginal side sections 2 and 3 which are provided with cut-out representations of journal boxes with springs and adjacent parts 4, 4 and 5, 5 of a railway car of the usual construction and which are provided with apertures 6, 6 to receive the end sections of the axles 7, S carrying the wheels 9 and l0 respectively. At suitable intervals along the lines a and b respectively upon which the side sections of the blank 1 is bent, I provide a plurality of cut-out lugs 11, 11. 'Ihe end sections of the blank 1 are preferably folded on the lines c and d to give additional strength and rigidity to the device, and I preferably form thereon a tongue section 12 and tongue engaging aperture 13 whereby the cars may be attached together in trains. On the floor section 1, I set a body section formed of a blank strip of material 14, folded at the lines e, f and g to form a rectangular body. The lower marginal edge section of the strip 14 is bent outwardly at a right angle on the line z. forming section 15 to rest upon the floor section l and is engaged by the bent over lugs 11, 11 which are folded down thereon. The upper marginal section of the blank 14 is bent over on the line 'i to form a marginal stripl 16 bent downwardly to give strength and rigidity to the body section. The end sections 17 and 18 are bent over and clasped together in any suitable manner.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim is:
A blank for a toy car section having a plurality of cut out lugs bent upwardly adjacent its marginal sides and arranged in parallel rows, and provided with a projecting tongue section and a cut out tongue engaging aperture at opposite ends, substantially as shown and described.
In testimony whereof, JULIUS CHEIN, has signed his name to this specication in the presence of two subscribing` witnesses, this 31st day of January, 1917.
