To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, lilownun Niels, a citizen of the United States, residing at Detroit, in the county of lVayne and State of Michigan, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Garment-Hangers,

of which the following is a specification.

This invention relates to garment hang ers, and nore especially to that class there of which are adapted to receive sets oi furs for storing or display purposes, and

The invention has, furthermore, for its object the provision of a hanger of the nature above described which may be converted from a single bar, into one of the double bar variety, in fact a device in which the secondary bar, together with its holding device, may be removed entirely from the main bar so as to occupy but very little space for storing and shipping purposes.

Further objects of the invention will hereinafter appear and be particularly delined in the claims.

The invention has been clearly illustrated in the accompanying drawings, in which similar characters denote similar parts, and in which- Figure 1 is a general View of a garment hanger embodying my invention, and Fig. 2 is an enlarged section of one end of the main bar.

Referring to the drawings, 10 denotes a principal or main bar of the hanger, preferably made of non-metallic material such as wood, and having a central support hook 11 attached thereto in any convenient manner.

A secondary bar 12 formed of wire and having a bent portion 13 which is again bent as at 14, is adapted to be entered into the end of the main bar in substantially the same manner as shown In Fig. 2 1n which,

,howrn'er, the other end of the main bar has been illustrated. This particular end is provided with a holder for the secondarybar, this holder consisting substantially of a wire 15 having a resilient bent portion 16 adapted to be entered into a suitable aperture 17 provided therefor in the main bar. The latter has a transverse aperture 18 adapted to receive the upper end of the holder 15 which is bent, as shown at 19, to form a lateral projection which may answer as a key member to prevent the holder 15 from turning in the aperture 17. It will be noted that the inclosed portion 16 is slightly bent so that when it is desired to remove the holder in its entirety from the main bar, it only requires a downward push upon the bent end 19, whereupon the holder may be readily removed.

The lower end of the holder 15 is pro vidcd with a hook 520 open at its top so as to receive the free end of the secondary bar 12 as shown in the manner of Fig. 1, it being understood that in order to re move or replace the bar 12 the bar should have a resilient action for normally throwing its free end into engagement with its hook.

Changes may be made in the particular construction and organization of the several parts, without departing from the spirit of the invention such as for instance the particular manner in which the secon dary bar and also its holder, are anchored within the main bar.

A garment holder comprising a main bar having a longitudinal aperture in one end thereof, a secondary bar secured to the other end of said main bar, and a holder adapted to engage said secondary bar and having a resilient portion entering said aperture, said resilient portion being bent for frictionally engaging the opposite walls of said aperture.
