Abstract
FIELD: plasma engineering and controlled nuclear fusion; generation of high-temperature plasma and neutron radiation. SUBSTANCE: with initial magnetic field introduced in plasma chamber, current starts flowing through auxiliary electrode and through main electrode of chamber electrically connected to the former. Initial magnetic field is introduced over two parallel channels forming capacitor voltage divider through insulators. Voltage built up upon turning-on of electromagnetic energy source across main electrodes excites discharge within gas volume and over insulator surfaces causing gas ionization which acquires conductance sufficient for freezing initial magnetic field into plasma produced. Pressure of magnetic field built up within chamber accelerates plasma and passes it through covering-diverging nozzle. hock wave is formed at nozzle outlet. EFFECT: improved operating reliability of device due to eliminating electrical connection between electromagnetic energy source and initial magnetic field source. 1 dwg
