SUBSTANCE: gas cupola with idle refractory burden has burners output nozzles with total area of their holes cross-section equal to: 0.03 - 0.05 of shaft (Fsh) cross-section area with usage of cold blast (Tb = 20 C); 0.04 - 0.07 Fsh with Tb = 100 C; 0.05 - 0.09 Fsh with Tb = 200 C; 0.06 - 0.11 Fsh with Tb = 300 C; 0.07 - 0.13 Fsh with Tb = 400 C; 0.08 - 0.15 Fsh with Tb = 500 C. Cupola burners tunnel hydraulic diameter is equal to 1.15 - 1.4 of burner output nozzle hydraulic diameter. In the case during gas cupola operation on lining slag burners tunnels are made water cooling metallic, for example, of copper. EFFECT: stabilized pig iron heating in gas cupola with idle refractory burden during long duration and continuous process of heating.
