DONDE EN EL ESPACIO DE REACCION DE DICHO HORNO ES FUNDIDA UNA MATERIA PRIMA SULFUROSA CONTENIENDO METAL TAL COMO COBRE, NIQUEL O PLOMO, EN PRESENCIA DE UN GAS CONTENIENDO OXIGENO Y UN AGENTE QUE FORMA ESCORIA, CON EL FIN DE QUE EL METAL ESTE EN UNA FORMA VENTAJOSA PARA UN TRATAMIENTO POSTERIOR Y EN DONDE LAS FASES FUNDIDAS SON SEDIMENTADAS SOBRE EL FONDO DEL HORNO DE FUSION, CON EL FIN DE SEPARAR LAS FASES FUNDIDAS CUANDO LA TEMPERATURA DE DICHAS FASES ESTEN EN EL RANGO DE 1150°-1450°C, DONDE LA ESTRUCTURA DEL FONDO INCLUYE UNA CAPA DE REVESTIMIENTO ARQUEADA INCLINADA EN LA DIRECCION LONGITUDINAL DEL HORNO CON UN ESPESOR DENTRO DEL ORDEN DE 250-700 MILIMETROS, DE MODO QUE LA TEMPERATURA EN LA SUPERFICIE QUE ESTA OPUESTA A LA SUPERFICIE QUE ENTRA EN CONTACTO CON LA FASE FUNDIDA ESTA BAJO 800°C. TAL QUE ENTRE LA CAPA DE REVESTIMIENTO QUE ENTRA EN CONTACTO CON LA FASE FUNDIDA Y LA ESTRUCTURA DE ACERO QUE SOPORTA DICHA CAPA EXISTE UNA CAPA DE REVESTIMIENTO ADICIONAL, ADEMAS LA ESTRUCTURA DE ACERO ESTA PROVISTA CON CANALES DE REFRIGERACION
