Abstract

Description

향미생성물품
담배를 연소시키지 않고, 담배의 향미나 연기를 즐기기 위한 의사끽연물품은 이미 공지이고, 여러 가지 유형이 제안되어 있다.
특개평 3-232481에는 종래의 의사끽연물품의 전형적인 컨셉트(concept)가 개시된다. 이 공보의 물품에 있어서는, 예컨대 봉 모양의 고체상의 원료가 사용되고, 상기 고체상의 원료가 가열소자에 의해 가열됨으로써, 향미 등의 흡인대상물이 생성된다. 이 유형의 물품의 문제점은, 고체상의 원료가 계속적으로 가열되는 경우에는 원료의 낭비가 많게 되고, 반대로 사용자의 흡입을 기다려 고체상의 원료가 가열되는 경우에는 사용자의 흡입(1퍼프(puff))개시와 향미의 생성과의 사이에 큰 시간의 어긋남이 발생한다는 것이다.
상기의 문제에 대응하기 위한 물품의 일례로서 특개평 3-277265에는 다수의 부분으로 분할된 고체상의 원료를 가지는 플레이버(flavour)송출물품이 개시된다. 이 공보의 물품에 있어서는 고체상의 원료의 각 부분은 사용자의 1퍼프마다 차례로 가열되고, 향미 등의 흡인대상물이 생성된다. 이 물품의 문제점은, 고체상의 원료와 가열소자가 일체로 향미 발생매체를 구성하는 것이다. 이 때문에, 원료의 소비 후, 가열소자를 원료와 함께 교환 또는 폐기할 필요가 있어 경제적으로도 환경적으로도 문제가 된다.
사용자의 1퍼프를 검출하기 위한 기구의 일례는 특개평 5-212100에 개시된다. 이 공보의 물품에 있어서는 향미원료를 가열하기 위한 가열소자가 사용자의 입술의 동작으로부터 얻어진 신호에 의해 구동 제어된다.
미국특허 제 4,945,931호에는 가압 에어로솔(aerosol) 용기를 사용한 의사끽연물품이 개시된다. 이 공보의 물품에 있어서는 사용자의 흡입동작에 의해 날개판이 요동하여 용기의 출구가 기계적으로 개방되어 에어로솔이 방출된다. 또한, 상기 공보에는 변경예로서, 기화열에 의해 냉각된 에어로솔을 데우기 위한 가열소자가 용기출구에 설치된 물품이 개시된다. 이 공보의 물품의 문제점은 사용자의 흡입동작 정도로 개폐하는 밸브에 의해, 가압상태의 에어로솔이 용기내에 유폐되어 있기 때문에, 일단 밸브가 개방되면 에어로솔이 대량으로 새어 나가 버린다는 것이다. 즉, 이 공보의 물품에 있어서는 1퍼프분에 적당한 일정량의 에어로솔을 계속적으로 방출하는 것은 불가능하고, 오히려, 2, 3회 흡입 동작으로 가압분의 에어로솔이 모두 방출되어 버릴 우려가 있다.
본 발명은 향미(香味)의 흡인이나 의사(疑似)끽연을 즐기기 위한 향미생성물품에 관한 것이고, 보다 구체적으로는 연소에 의하지 않고, 전기 히터로 액체상의 원료를 가열하여 흡인대상물인 향미를 생성하는 향미생성물품에 관한 것이다.

본 발명은 상기한 바와 같은 문제점을 감안하여 이루어진 것이고, 향미원료의 낭비가 발생하기 어렵고 또한 사용자의 1퍼프와 향미의 생성과의 타이밍을 맞추기 쉬운 향미생성물품을 제공하는 것을 목적으로 한다.
본 발명의 제1 관점은 향미생성물품에 있어서,
내부로 공기를 받아들이기 위한 공기 입구와 사용자가 향미를 흡인하기 위한 흡인구를 가짐과 동시에, 상기 입구와 상기 흡인구의 사이에 가스 유로(流路)를 제공하는 케이싱(casing)과,
적어도 향미물질을 포함하는 액체상의 원료를 저장함과 동시에 상기 원료의 토출구를 가지는 상기 케이싱에 설치된 원료용기와,
상기 토출구를 통해 상기 용기로부터 상기 원료를 액적(液滴)으로서 토출시키기 위한 토출구동수단과,
상기 가스 유로내에 설치되고, 상기 용기로부터 토출되는 상기 원료의 상기 액적을 수취함과 동시에 이것을 전기적으로 가열함으로써 가스화 하기 위한 가스화 수단과,
상기 가스화 수단에 전기 에너지를 공급하기 위한 전원,
을 구비하는 것을 특징으로 한다.
본 발명의 제2 관점은 제1 관점의 향미생성물품에 있어서, 사용자의 흡인동작을 검출하는 센서와, 상기 센서로부터의 신호에 의거하여 상기 용기로부터 상기 원료를 토출시키도록 상기 토출구동수단을 제어하기 위한 제어수단을 더 구비하는 것을 특징으로 한다.
본 발명의 제3 관점은 제2 관점의 향미생성물품에 있어서, 상기 센서가 상기 흡인구의 둘레에 상기 케이싱상에 설치된 감압(感壓)센서를 구비하는 것을 특징으로 한다.
본 발명의 제4 관점은 제2 또는 제3 관점의 향미생성물품에 있어서, 상기 제어수단이 상기 센서로부터의 신호에 의거하여 상기 가스화 수단이 발열하도록 상기 가스화 수단을 제어하는 것을 특징으로 한다.
본 발명의 제5 관점은 제4 관점의 향미생성물품에 있어서, 상기 제어수단이 상기 원료의 토출에 앞서서 상기 가스화 수단을 예열하도록 상기 가스화 수단 및 상기 토출구동수단을 제어하는 것을 특징으로 한다.
본 발명의 제6 관점은 제1 관점의 향미생성물품에 있어서, 상기 전원이 상기 케이싱내에 설치되는 것을 특징으로 한다.
본 발명의 제7 관점은 제6 관점의 향미생성물품에 있어서, 상기 케이싱이 케이블을 통해 전기적으로 접속된 제1 및 제2 부분으로 이루어지고, 상기 가스 유로, 상기 용기, 상기 토출구동수단, 및 상기 가스화 수단이 상기 제1 부분내에 설치되고, 상기 전원이 상기 제2 부분내에 설치되는 것을 특징으로 한다.
본 발명의 제8 관점은 제7 관점의 향미생성물품에 있어서, 상기 케이싱의 상기 제1 및 제2 부분이 접속부를 통해 착탈 가능한 것을 특징으로 한다.

본 발명의 제13 관점은 제1 내지 제12중 어느 하나의 관점의 향미생성물품에 있어서, 상기 가스화 수단과 상기 흡인구와의 사이에 위치하도록 상기 가스 유로내에 설치된 적어도 향미물질을 포함하는 고체상의 원료의 성형체를 더 구비하는 것을 특징으로 한다.
본 발명의 제14 관점은 제13 관점의 향미생성물품에 있어서, 상기 성형체를 가열하기 위한 가열수단을 더 구비하는 것을 특징으로 한다.
본 발명에 의하면, 향미원료의 낭비가 발생하기 어렵고 또한 사용자의 1퍼프와 향미의 생성과의 타이밍을 맞추기 쉬운 향미생성물품을 제공하는 것이 가능하게 된다. 특히, 사용자의 흡인동작을 검출하는 센서로부터의 신호에 의거하여 토출구동수단을 제어함으로써, 원료의 낭비가 없게 될 뿐만 아니라, 항상 안정된 향미를 제공하는 것이 가능하게 된다. 또한, 케이싱을, 전원을 내장하는 부분과 입에 무는 부분에 착탈 가능하게 분할함으로써, 향미생성물품을 보다 사용하기 쉬운 상태로 사용할 수 있도록 된다.

향미생성물품(10)은 사용자가 입에 물을 수 있을 정도의 바깥 지름을 가지는 원통형의 케이싱(12)을 구비한다. 케이싱(12)은 사용자가 입에 물기 위한 제1 부분(12a)과, 전원 등을 내장하기 위한 제2 부분(12b)으로 이루어진다. 2개의 부분(12a, 12b)은 케이싱 본체(14)에 형성된 접속부(13)를 통해 착탈 가능하게 접속된다. 2개의 부분(12a, 12b)은 접속부(13)에 대응하여 케이싱 본체(14)내에 형성된 공간내에 수납된 케이블(15)을 통해 전기적으로 접속된다. 접속부(13)로서는 나사 또는 끼워 붙임 쌍 등의 공지의 구조를 채용할 수 있다. 케이싱(12)의 본체(14)는 플라스틱, 금속, 세라믹스, 목재 등의 재료로 형성된다.

원료 용기(32)에는 케이싱(12)을 횡단하는 방향으로 액체상의 원료(36)를 토출하기 위한 복수의 토출구(35)를 가지는 토출 헤드(34)가 부설된다. 토출 헤드(34)는 좁힘 구멍(20)보다 흡인구(22)측에 위치하도록 배치된다. 토출구(35)를 통해 원료 용기(32)로부터 액체상의 원료(36)를 토출시키기 위해, 토출구(35)에 인접하여 토출구동부(38)가 설치된다. 토출 헤드(34) 및 토출 구동부(38)는 압전(壓電)소자를 이용한 액체토출기구(특공소 53-45698 및 미국 특허 제 3,596,275호에 개시한 방식과 동일한 원리)로 이루어진다.
예컨대, 도 2에 도시한 바와 같이, 토출구(35)는 토출 헤드(34)의 상면의 폭 W가 약 2mm, 길이 L이 약 5mm인 영역에 10개씩 2열로, 합계 20개가 배열된다. 토출구(35)의 배열 중심은 후술하는 세라믹 히터(42)의 중심과 대략 일치한다.
도 3은 도 2의 Ⅲ-Ⅲ선에 따라서 절단된 토출 헤드(34) 및 토출 구동부(38)를 나타내는 확대 개략도이다. 즉, 도 3은 한쪽의 토출구(35)의 열에 대응하는 단면을 나타내는 것이고, 다른 쪽의 토출구(35)의 열에 대응하는 단면은 도 3에 도시한 단면에 대하여 좌우대칭인 위치관계로 된다.
도시한 바와 같이, 배선기판(132)상에 액체상의 원료(36)를 흘리기 위한 오목부나 구멍을 형성하기 위해, 복수의 부분(parts)으로 이루어지는 프레임(134)이 적층된다. 프레임(134)에 의해 형성된 오목부는 복수의 토출구(35)를 제외하고 필름(136)에 의해 피복된다. 또한, 액체상의 원료(36)를 일시적으로 모으기 위해, 토출구(35)의 아래에 액저장부(146)가 형성된다. 액저장부(146)의 저판(底板)은 진동판으로서 기능하는 전극(138)으로 이루어진다.
원료 용기(32)로부터의 액체상의 원료(36)는 우선 좁은 유로(142)를 통해 보내지고, 토출구(35)보다 작은 지름의 복수의 흡인구(144)에서 액저장부(146)에 도달한다. 제어회로(72)의 제어 하에서 전극(138)이 진동 조작되면, 액체상의 원료(36)는 흐름에 대한 저항이 낮은 토출구(35)에서 선택적으로 토출된다. 토출된 액체상의 원료(36)는 액적 LD으로서 세라믹 히터(42)상에 공급된다.
이 외, 액체상의 원료(36)의 토출기구로서는 특공소 61-59911 등에 개시되는 처리액을 가열하여 발생시킨 기포에 의해 압출하는 방식이나, 미국 특허 제3,060,429호 등에 개시되는 처리액의 입자를 하전(荷電)하여 전계제어하는 방식 등, 공지의 프린터의 잉크토출기구를 응용하여 사용할 수 있다. 게다가, 액체상의 원료(36)를 가압액체로 하여 토출구(35)에 설치된 밸브를 개폐함으로써 제어하는 토출기구를 사용할 수도 있다.
토출구(35)에 대향하도록 가스 유로(26)내에 세라믹 히터(42)가 설치된다. 세라믹 히터(42)는 지지부재(44)에 의해 케이싱 본체(14)의 내면상에 고정된다. 토출 헤드(34)의 토출구(35)와 세라믹 히터(42)와의 사이의 간격(27)은 좁힘 구멍(20)으로부터의 공기가 통하도록 설정된다. 따라서, 공기 입구(24)로부터의 공기는 좁힘 구멍(20)에 의해 토출구(35)와 세라믹 히터(42)와의 사이의 간격(27)으로 지향된다.
세라믹 히터(42)상에는 토출 구동부(38)에 의해 구동되어 토출구(35)로부터 방출된 1퍼프분에 상당하는 원료가 액체 비말 또는 액적으로서 공급된다. 세라믹 히터(42)는 세라믹 판과 그 위에 코팅된 저항 발열체로 이루어지고, 따라서, 원료의 비말을 수취하기 위한 받는 판과 이 받는 판을 가열하기 위한 가열수단이 일체로 된 것이다. 그러나, 받는 판과 가열수단은 각각 별체로 하여 설치하는 것도 가능하다.
세라믹 히터(42)의 원료의 액체 비말을 수취 측의 면, 즉 받는 판으로서 기능하는 측의 면 위에는 0.01mm∼2.0mm의 두께를 가지는 흡액성의 다공질층(46), 예컨대, 두께 약 0.5mm의 활성 탄소층이 설치된다. 다공질층(46)은 세라믹 히터(42)의 표면을 보호할 뿐만 아니라, 원료의 비말을 유지함과 동시에 히터(42)로부터의 열전달을 완화함으로써, 원료의 비말의 가스화를 안정화시키는 역할을 갖는다. 다공질층(46)은 천연 셀룰로오스(cellulose), 셀룰로오스 유전체, 아라미드 수지 등의 유기 화합물이나, 탄소(활성탄소를 포함), 알루미나, 탄화규소 등의 무기 화합물로 형성할 수 있다. 다공질층(46)은 임의의 형태를 취할 수 있고, 예컨대, 이들의 화합물을 미리 필름, 시트, 판, 직물, 부직포 등의 성형물로서 형성하여 사용하는 것도 가능하고, 이들의 화합물의 분말을 히터(42)상에 직접 도공(塗工)하는 것에 의해 형성하는 것도 가능하다.
세라믹 히터(42)와 흡인구(22)와의 사이에는 가스 유로(26)의 일부를 구성하도록 배치된 냉각실(52)이 형성된다. 냉각실을 규정하는 케이싱 본체(14)의 측벽에는 바깥 공기 도입구멍(54)이 형성된다. 세라믹 히터(42)로 가열된 향미를 포함하는 가스는 냉각실(52)에서 바깥 공기와 혼합되어 냉각되고, 흡인구(22)에 도달한다. 바깥 공기 도입구멍(54)은 미리 결정된 바깥 공기 도입량에 대응하는 개구면적을 가지도록 설정할 수 있다. 또한, 도시한 바와 같이, 바깥 공기 도입구멍(54)의 주위에서 케이싱(12)에 복수의 개구를 가지는 조절링(55)을 설치할 수도 있다. 이 경우, 바깥 공기 도입구멍(54)에 대하여 조절링(55)의 위치를 조절함으로써, 냉각실(52)내로의 바깥 공기 유입량을 조절할 수 있다.
냉각실(52)과 흡인구(22)와의 사이에는 흡인구(22)를 덮도록 가스 유로(26)내에 필터(58)가 설치된다. 필터(58)를 설치함으로써, 적당한 흡연성으로 되도록 압력 손실을 조정할 수 있다. 필터(58)는 셀룰로오스 아세테이트(cellulose acetate), 펄프(pulp) 등으로 이루어지는 통상의 담배필터의 소재로 형성할 수 있다.
한편, 케이싱(12)의 제2 부분(12b)내에는 전원(62)이 착탈 가능하게 고정되고, 전원(62)은 토출 구동부(38), 세라믹 히터(42) 및 후술하는 제어회로(72)에 전기 에너지를 공급하기 위해 사용된다. 전원(62)은 케이싱 본체(14)의 배부(背部)의 개구를 폐쇄하는 캡(64)을 개폐함으로써, 케이싱 본체(14)에 대하여 착탈 가능하게 된다. 전원(62)은 바람직하게는 직류전원, 예컨대 시판(市販)의 건전지, 충전지로 된다. 그러나, 전원(62)은 교류전원으로 할 수도 있다. 또한, 전원(62)은 케이싱 본체(14)의 외측에 설치되던지, 또는 별도로 설치되어 배선으로 케이싱 본체(14)에 접속하도록 하는 것도 가능하다.
전원(62)과 원료 용기(32)와의 사이에는 토출 구동부(38) 및 세라믹 히터(42)의 구동을 제어하기 위한 제어회로(72)가 설치된다. 도 4에 도시된 바와 같이, 제어회로(72)는 신호회로(72a), 구동회로(72b) 및 전원회로(72c)를 가진다. 신호회로(72a)에는 사용자의 흡인동작을 검출하기 위한 센서(73)와, ON/OFF용의 수동 스위치(74)가 접속된다. 구동회로(72b)에는 토출 구동부(38) 및 세라믹 히터(42)가 접속된다. 전원회로(72c)에는 전원(62)이 접속된다.
사용자의 흡인동작을 검출하기 위한 센서(73)는 흡인구(22)에 인접하도록 케이싱 본체(14)의 주위에 설치된다. 센서(73)는 저항변화, 용량변화, 압전 기전력 등을 검출하는 일반적인 비틀림식 감압센서와 동일한 원리로 이루어지고, 사용자가 입에 무는 압력을 검출하여 전기신호를 발생한다. 대신해서, 센서(73)로서 후술하는 요동 날개판형 센서, 접점형 센서, 또는 특개평 5-212100에 개시된 입술 센서 등을 사용할 수 있다.
제어회로(72)는 ON/OFF용의 수동 스위치(74)로부터의 신호에 의해, 또는 센서(73)로부터의 신호에 의거하여 사용자의 흡인동작에 맞추어 토출 구동부(38) 및 히터(42)를 시동시키고, 액체상의 원료를 토출시키고 또 가스화 한다. 제어회로(72)에서의 신호 처리 및 제어의 형태는, 예컨대 공지의 아날로그 제어, 2위치제어, 또는 이들의 조합으로 할 수 있다.
ON/OFF용의 수동 스위치(74)는 케이싱(12)의 제1 부분(12a)의 측면에 설치된다. 본 물품을 사용하지 않을 때는 스위치(74)를 수동으로 오프상태로 전환함으로써, 토출 구동부(38) 및 히터(42)를 강제적으로 정지시켜 둘 수 있다. 수동 스위치(74)는 전기 접점을 가진 마이크로 리미트 스위치(micro limit switch) 등의 일반적인 소형의 눌러내림식 스위치와 동일한 기구로 된다.
또한, 본 물품을 사용할 때, 즉 스위치(74)를 온 상태로 전환하고 있는 동안, 히터(42)를 가열한 채로 하는 것도 가능하다. 이 경우, 제어회로(72)는 액체상의 원료의 토출을 취급하는 토출 구동부(38)의 동작만을 제어하면 된다.
다음에, 도 1에 도시된 향미생성물품(10)의 조작 양태를 설명한다.
도 1에 도시된 향미생성물품(10)을 사용하여 향미를 끽연할 경우, 사용자는 우선, 수동 스위치(74)를 온하고, 케이싱(12)의 제1 부분(12a)을 물어 흡인구(22)에서 흡인동작을 행한다. 이 동작에 의해 센서(73)로부터 제어회로(72)에 흡인동작신호가 송출되고, 따라서, 제어회로(72)의 제어 하에 세라믹 히터(42)로의 통전이 개시되고, 또한, 이것과 동시던가 또는 일정 시간 경과 후에 토출 구동부(38)가 작동한다.
이 때문에, 토출구(35)로부터 액체상의 원료(36)가 토출되고, 세라믹 히터(42)에서 가열되어 가스화 된다. 가스화된 원료는 사용자의 흡인동작에 따라서, 공기 입구(24)로부터 좁힘 구멍(20)을 통과하여 토출구(35)와 세라믹 히터(42)와의 사이로 인도된 주 흡인공기와 혼합되고, 흡인구(22)로 반송된다.
세라믹 히터(42)의 통전 및 토출 구동부(38)의 작동은, 예컨대 도 6 또는 도 7에 도시된 동작 타이밍에 의해 행하여진다. 도 6은 센서(73)로부터의 신호에 의해 세라믹 히터(42)의 통전 가열 및 액체상의 원료(36)의 토출이 동시에 행하여질 경우를 나타낸다. 도 7은 센서(73)로부터의 신호에 의해 세라믹 히터(42)가 선행하여 통전 예열되고, 일정 시간 경과 후 즉, 히터 온도가 어느 정도 상승한 후에 액체상의 원료(36)가 토출되는 경우를 나타낸다.
필요하다면, 흡인중, 조절링(28, 60)을 조절함으로써, 공기 입구(24)로부터의 주 흡인 공기량 및 바깥 공기 도입구멍(54)으로부터의 도입 공기량을 변화시킬 수 있다. 이것에 의해, 흡인구(22)에 이르는 향미를 포함하는 공기의 맛(味)을 변화시켜서, 사용자의 흡인 감각에 바람직하게 맞추어진 향미의 끽연을 행하는 것이 가능하게 된다.
또한, 상기한 바와 같이, 케이싱(12)은 액체상의 원료(36), 토출 헤드(34), 세라믹 히터(42) 등을 수납한 제1 부분(12a)과, 제어회로(72), 전원(62) 등을 수납한 제2 부분(12b)이 접속부(13)를 통해 착탈 가능하게 접속된 구조를 이룬다. 제1 및 제2 부분(12a, 12b)은 케이블(15)을 통해 전기적으로 접속된다. 이 때문에, 본 향미생성물품(10)은 제1 및 제2 부분(12a, 12b)을 접속부(13)를 통해 일체적으로 접속된 상태로 사용하는 것도 가능하고, 도 5에 도시된 바와 같이, 제1 및 제2 부분(12a, 12b)을 분리하여 사용하는 것도 가능하다. 도 5에 도시된 상태에 있어서, 제1 및 제2 부분(12a, 12b)은 케이블(15)이 허용하는 범위에서 떼어놓을 수 있기 때문에, 예컨대 제2 부분(12b)을 포켓에 넣고, 제1 부분(12a)만을 입에 무는 것 같은 사용 양태를 취할 수 있다. 또, 제1 부분(12a)에서 떨어진 제2 부분(12b)을 기존의 전원에 연결하여, 즉 설치하여 사용할 수도 있다.
다음에, 도 1에 도시된 향미생성물품(10)을 사용한 몇 가지의 실험에 대하여 설명한다.
우선, 향미물질로서 약간의 천연 페퍼민트 오일(peppermint oil)을 사용하고, 향미에 연기를 가하기 위한 에어로솔 생성물질로서 글리세린을 사용하고, 이들에 또 물을 가함으로써, 물과 글리세린과의 농도비로서 약 2:98에서 약 90:10의 범위에서 다른 복수의 액체상의 원료(36)를 조제했다. 그리고, 도 1에 도시된 향미생성물품을 사용하여 각 액체상의 원료(36)를 가열하여 얻어지는 향미물질을 포함한 에어로솔을 약 58초간의 간격으로 1회에 약 2초를 주어 35cc에서 50cc 끽연하는 1사이클 약 1분간의 표준적인 끽연 조건에서 흡인했다.
그 결과, 물과 글리세린과의 농도비가 50:50에서 약간의 천연 페퍼민트 오일을 첨가하여 조제된 것을 액체상의 원료(36)로 하면, 토출의 안정성을 충분히 확보할 수 있고, 또한 흡인되었을 때의 관능적 만족감 및 시각적 연량감(煙量感)도 어느 정도 달성될 수 있었기 때문에, 이하의 실험에서는 이것을 액체상의 원료(36)로서 사용했다. 또한, 이하의 실험에 있어서도, 약 58초간의 간격으로 1회에 약 2초를 주어 35cc에서 50cc 끽연하는 1사이클 약 1분간의 표준적인 끽연 조건에서 흡인하고, 또한, 약 2.5mg/sec의 토출속도를 사용했다.
이와 같은 조건에서, 도 6 및 도 7에 도시된 동작 타이밍의 비교를 행했다. 우선, 도 6에 도시된 타이밍에서 히터 온도를 2초간에 실온으로부터 약 400℃로 올렸다. 이 경우, 기화할 수 있는 온도에 도달할 때까지의 올리는 도중에서 히터면에 축적된 액체상의 원료(36)가 한번에 기화하고, 급격한 팽창에 의해 토출구(35) 근방으로 응축하거나 또는 갑자기 끓음에 의해 액적으로 비산하여 수율의 저하를 발생시켰다. 다음에, 도 7에 도시된 타이밍에서 예열의 시간에 히터의 온도를 약 140℃∼220℃로 예열한 후에 2초간에 420℃∼440℃까지 올렸다. 이 경우, 액체상의 원료(36)는 토출에 연동하여 효율적으로 기화했다.
사용자의 흡인시간은 도 6에서는 히터 통전 및 토출의 개시로부터 종료할 때까지에 상당하고, 도 7에서는 예열시간을 포함한 히터 통전개시로부터 종료할 때까지에 상당해야 한다. 따라서, 예열 시간은 표준적인 끽연시간에 있어서, 사용자가 흡인할 때 위화감을 느끼지 않도록 약 0.1초에서 1초까지의 범위로 설정하는 것이 바람직하고, 또, 예열 온도는 별로 높지 않은 것이 필요하다.
예컨대, 예열시간 2초간에 히터를 약 400℃까지 예열했을 때, 그 후 토출된 원료가 급격하게 기화하여 팽창하고, 토출구(35) 근방에 응축하는 비율이 증가하여 반대로 수율이 저하하는 경향으로 되었다. 또한, 흡인구(22)의 센서(73)를 입에 무는 동작으로부터 2초 경과한 후에 흡인동작에 들어간다는 시간적인 어긋남에 대하여 위화감이 발생했다. 이 실험에서는 도 7에 도시된 동작 타이밍에 있어서, 실온에서 온도 140℃까지의 예열에는 약 0.5초를, 온도 220℃까지의 예열에는 약 1초의 예열시간을 소비하도록 했다.
또한, 세라믹 히터(42)의 표면에 다공질층(46)이 없고, 평활한 경우에는 액체상의 원료(36)가 히터면에 포착되기 어렵고, 터져 갈라지는 등의 현상이 관찰되었다. 이 경우, 도 6 및 도 7에 도시된 어느 하나의 타이밍에 있어서도, 수율은 저하하는 경향이 관찰되었다.
한편, 좁힘 구멍(20)을 통해 간격(27)을 통과하는 주 흡인공기는 유속이 어느 정도 빠른 편이 액체상의 원료의 가스화 효율을 향상시켰다. 이 점에 관하여, 표준적인 1회당 35cc∼50cc/2sec의 끽연조건에 있어서, 좁힘 구멍(20)의 위치가 간격(27)의 중심으로부터 약 30mm이내에 있고, 좁힘 구멍(20)을 통과하는 공기속도가 약 6m/sec 이상의 경우에, 바람직한 결과가 얻어졌다. 이것은 좁힘 구멍(20)의 개구 단면적으로서 약 3mm2이하에 상당한다. 그러나, 사용자가 입으로 흡인하는 것이 무리일 정도로 개구 단면적을 작게(속도를 빠르게)하는 것은 무의미하다. 이상의 점을 고려하면, 좁힘 구멍(20)의 개구 단면적의 하한(下限)은 약 0.6mm2정도가 바람직하다고 생각된다.
간격(27)의 크기, 즉 토출구(35)와 세라믹 히터(42)와의 사이의 수직 방향거리도 또한, 액체상의 원료(36)의 가스화 효율에 영향을 주었다. 토출구(35) 근방으로의 가스의 응축에 의한 수율의 저하를 억제하기 위해서는 세라믹 히터(42)와 토출구(35)를 약 2mm 이상의 거리로 대향시킬 필요가 있었다.
다음에, 본 발명의 다른 실시형태에 관한 향미생성물품을 몇 가지 설명한다. 이들의 실시형태를 나타내는 도면에 있어서 선행하는 도면과 공통하는 부분에는 동일한 부호를 부여하고 이들의 상세한 설명을 생략한다.
도 8은 본 발명의 다른 실시형태에 관한 향미생성물품을 나타내는 개략도이다.
이 실시형태의 향미생성물품은 도 1에 도시된 향미생성물품과 유사하지만, 토출 헤드(34)의 토출구(35)의 배치 방향이 도 1에 도시된 구조와는 각도가 90도 다르고, 흡인구(22)를 향하도록 설정되어 있다. 따라서 또, 토출구(35)에 대향하는 세라믹 히터(42)도 도 1에 도시된 구조와는 90도 방향이 다르게 되도록 설정된다. 또한, 토출 헤드(34)가 좁힘 구멍(20)내에 배치되기 때문에, 가스 유로(26)로서 기능하는 좁힘 구멍(20)의 실질적인 개구는 좁힘 구멍(20) 및 토출 헤드(34)의 쌍방의 치수에 의해 규정된다.
도 9는 본 발명의 또 다른 실시형태에 관한 향미생성물품을 나타내는 개략도이다.
이 실시형태의 향미생성물품이 특징으로 하는 점은, 우선, 케이싱(12)이 제1 및 제2 부분(12a, 12b)(도 1 참조)으로 분리할 수 없고, 액체상의 원료(36), 토출 헤드(34), 세라믹 히터(42), 전원(62), 제어부(72) 등이 1개의 케이싱 본체(14)내에 내장되어 있는 것이다. 그러나, 케이싱 본체(14)에는 접속부(18)를 통해 마우스피스(mouth piece)(16)가 착탈 가능하게 설치되고, 여기에 흡인구(22)가 형성된다. 마우스피스(16)는 플라스틱, 목재 등의 재료로 형성된다. 접속부(18)로서는 나사 또는 끼워 붙임 쌍 등의 공지의 구조를 채용할 수 있다. 마우스피스(16)를 대신하여 케이싱 본체(14)에 필터를 삽입하여 사용하는 것도 가능하다.
또한, 원료 용기(32)에 부설된 토출 헤드(34)의 토출구(35)는 1개이고, 흡인구(22)를 향하여 액체상의 원료(36)를 토출하도록 배치된다. 따라서, 토출구(35)에 대향하는 세라믹 히터(42)는 도 8에 도시된 구조와 동일한 방향으로 배치된다. 또한, 가스 유로(26)내에는 좁힘 판(21)(도 1 참조)이 설치되지 않고, 세라믹 히터(42)를 지지하는 지지부재(44)에 의한 규제에 의해, 유입공기가 세라믹 히터(42)상을 흐르도록 되어 있다.
도 10은 본 발명의 또 다른 실시형태에 관한 향미생성물품을 나타내는 개략도이다.
이 실시형태의 향미생성물품은 도 9에 도시된 향미생성물품과 유사하지만, 원료 용기(32)가 수동으로 토출 조작하는 구조를 가진 점에서 크게 다르다. 이 때문에, 원료 용기(32)에는 케이싱 본체(14)의 외측으로 돌출하는 조작레버(76)가 접속된다. 레버(76)를 눌러 내림으로써, 토출구(35)로부터 1퍼프분에 상당하는 원료가 방출되고, 액체 비말 또는 액적으로서 세라믹 히터(42)상에 공급된다. 또한, 제어회로(72)는 레버(76)의 눌러 내리는 동작을 신호로서 받고, 이 신호에 의거하여 세라믹 히터(42)를 급전(給電) 가열하여 원료의 비말을 가스화시킨다. 즉, 레버(76)는 도 1에 도시된 향미생성물품의 토출 구동부(38)와, 사용자의 흡인동작을 검출하는 센서(73)와의 양자(兩者)를 대신하는 역할을 맡는다.
도 10에 도시된 향미생성물품에 있어서는 또한, 원료 용기(32)에 액체상의 원료(36)를 보급하기 위한 주입 포트(82)가 접속된다. 주입 포트(82)의 단부는 케이싱 본체(14)의 외측에 노출하고, 여기로부터 액체상의 원료를 원료 용기(32)에 주입 보급할 수 있다. 상기한 바와 같이, 원료 용기(32)는 사용자의 복수의 퍼프분의 토출량에 대응하는 양의 액체상의 원료(36)를 저장하는 용량을 가진다. 그러나, 원료를 보급 가능하게 함으로써, 원료 용기(32)를 교환하지 않고 본 향미생성물품을 더 계속적으로 사용하는 것이 가능하게 된다.
또한, 원료 용기(32)내의 잔량을 보기 위해, 케이싱 본체(14)의 측벽에는 원료 용기(32)에 대응하여 투명한 들여다보는 창(84)이 형성된다. 따라서, 여기에서는 원료 용기(32) 자체도 투명 또는 반투명의 용기로 이루어진다. 들여다보는 창(84)을 통해 원료 용기(32)내의 액체상의 원료(36)의 잔량을 감시함으로써, 원료 보급의 타이밍을 알 수 있다.
원료 용기(32)내의 잔량을 감시하기 위해, 도 10에 도시된 구성을 대신하여 전기적 잔량 검출수단과 전기적 표시수단과의 조합을 사용할 수 있다. 전기적 잔량 검출수단의 예는 원료 용기(32)의 도전성의 변화를 검출하는 수단이고, 전기적 표시수단의 예는 케이싱 본체(14)의 외면상에 설치된 발광 다이오드를 사용한 수단이다. 또한, 원료 용기(32)내의 잔량을 감시하는 기구로서, 프리즘을 사용하여 잔량을 광학적으로 검출하는 방식을 사용하는 것도 가능하다.
도 10에 도시된 향미생성물품에 있어서는, 게다가, 전원(62)이 접속부(68)를 통해 케이싱 본체(14)에 착탈 가능하게 설치된 전원홀더(66)내에 수납된다. 접속부(68)로서는 나사 또는 끼워 붙임 쌍 등의 공지의 구조를 채용할 수 있다. 전원(62)의 크기에 대응하는 길이의 전원홀더(66)를 사용함으로써, 전원(62)의 교환이 용이하게 됨과 동시에, 케이싱 본체(14)내의 부재의 수리나 교환도 용이하게 된다.
도 11은 본 발명의 또 다른 실시형태에 관한 향미생성물품을 나타내는 개략도이다.
이 실시형태의 향미생성물품은 도 10에 도시된 향미생성물품과 유사하지만, 토출조작레버(76)가 토출구(35)에 부설된 아토마이저(atomiser)(86)에 접속되어 있는 점에서 다르다. 아토마이저(86)에 의해, 1퍼프분에 상당하는 원료를 액체 비말 또는 액적 상태로 세라믹 히터(42)상에 공급하는 것이 가능하게 된다.
또한, 도 11에 도시된 향미생성물품에 있어서는 냉각실(52)내에 충전물(56)이 설치된다. 충전물(56)을 설치함으로써, 가스화된 향미성분의 냉각효과를 촉진할 수 있음과 동시에, 적당한 흡연성으로 되도록 압력손실을 조정할 수 있다. 충전물(56)로서는, 예컨대 셀룰로오스 아세테이트, 펄프 등으로 이루어지는 섬유성형체나, 유리, 알루미늄 입자와 같은 입상물(粒狀物)을 사용할 수 있다.
도 12는 본 발명의 또 다른 실시형태에 관한 향미생성물품을 나타내는 개략도이다.
이 실시형태의 향미생성물품이 특징으로 하는 점은 세라믹 히터(42)와 냉각실(52)과의 사이에서 가스 유로(26)내에 사용자가 흡인하는 향미 등을 생성하기 위한 고체상의 원료의 성형체(92)가 착탈 가능하게 설치되는 것이다.
고체상의 원료의 성형체(92)는 용도에 따라서 여러 가지의 천연물로부터의 추출물질 및/또는 그들의 구성성분을 포함할 수 있다. 성형체(92)가 함유하는 향미물질로서는 예컨대, 멘톨, 카페인, 또는 담배 추출물 성분이나 담배 연기 응축물 성분 등의 담배 성분을 사용할 수 있다.
고체상의 원료의 성형체(92)가 케이싱 본체(14)의 내면과의 사이에 틈을 발생시키지 않는 치수를 가질 경우, 성형체(92)는 바람직한 통기성을 가지는 성형체(92)를 사용한다. 이 경우, 공기 입구(24)와 흡인구(22)와의 사이의 가스 유로(26)는 성형체(92)의 내부를 통하도록 형성된다. 한편, 후술하는 바와 같이, 성형체(92)의 치수가 성형체(92)와 케이싱 본체(14)의 내면과의 사이에 틈이 형성되도록 설정되는 경우에는, 통기성이 낮은 또는 통기성이 없는 성형체(92)를 사용할 수 있다. 이 경우, 공기 입구(24)와 흡인구(22)와의 사이의 가스 유로(26)는 성형체(92)와 케이싱 본체(14)의 내면과의 사이의 틈을 통하도록 형성된다.

이 실시형태의 향미생성물품이 도 12에 도시된 향미생성물품과 상이하는 점은 성형체(92)를 가열하기 위한 코일 히터(94)가 성형체(92)의 주위에 설치되어 있는 것이다. 또, 성형체(92)를 가열하기 위한 히터는 성형체(92)에 구멍을 성형하고, 상기 구멍내에 설치하도록 해도 된다.
코일 히터(94)는 세라믹 히터(42)와 함께 사용자의 흡인동작에 맞추어 급전하도록 제어회로(72)에 의해 제어할 수 있다. 그러나, 성형체(92)의 열용량이 큰 경우, 사용자의 흡인동작의 개시에 맞추어 코일 히터(94)에 급전해도 향미의 생성이 상당히 지연될 우려가 있다. 따라서, 이 형태의 경우, 코일 히터(94)는 본 물품의 사용시, 즉 스위치(74)를 온 상태로 전환하고 있는 동안, 가열된 채로 되도록 설정해도 된다.
또한, 성형체(92)는 케이싱 본체(14)의 내면과의 사이에 충분한 틈이 형성되도록 하는 치수를 가진다. 따라서, 공기 입구(24)와 흡인구(22)와의 사이의 가스 유로(26)의 주요 부분은 상기 틈을 통하도록 형성되게 된다.
도 14는 본 발명의 또 다른 실시형태에 관한 향미생성물품을 나타내는 개략도이다. 이 실시형태의 향미생성물품의 특징은 사용자의 흡인동작을 검출하기 위해 요동 날개판형 센서가 사용되고 있는 것이다. 보다 구체적으로는 세라믹 히터(42)와 냉각실(52)과의 사이에서 가스 유로(26)내에 요동 날개판(102)이 설치된다. 또한 세라믹 히터(42)와 날개판(102)과의 사이에, 가스 유로(26)내에는 날개판(102)에 대향하여 개구(114)를 가지는 오리피스(orifice)(112)가 설치된다. 날개판(102)은 센서회로의 스위치 레버로 되는 도전성레버(104)와 일체적으로 접속된다. 도전성레버(104)에 대향하여 케이싱 본체(14)의 내면상에 센서회로의 전기접점(108)이 설치된다.
날개판(102) 및 레버(104)는 케이싱 본체(14)의 내면상의 지지부(106)에 일체적으로 요동 가능하게 문지도리와 같이 지지되고, 또한 지지부(106)에 내장된 스프링에 의해, 도면에서 반시계 방향으로 힘이 가해진다. 따라서, 통상시, 날개판(102)은 오리피스(112)에 마주 접하고, 또 레버(104)와 접점(108)과는 비접촉 상태로 있다. 그러나, 사용자가 흡인동작을 개시하면, 오리피스(112)에서 유속이 높아진 가스 흐름이 날개판(102)을 도면에서 시계방향으로 선회시켜 레버(104)와 접점(108)을 접촉시킨다.
이 형태로 하여 요동 날개판형 센서에 의해 검출된 사용자의 흡인동작신호는 제어회로(72)에 전달되고, 이 검출신호에 의거하여 토출 구동부(38)나 세라믹 히터(42)가 제어 가능하게 된다.
도 15는 본 발명의 또 다른 실시형태에 관한 향미생성물품을 나타내는 개략도이다.
이 실시형태의 향미생성물품의 특징은 사용자의 흡인동작을 검출하기 위해 접점형 센서가 사용되고 있는 것이다. 보다 구체적으로는 케이싱(12)의 외면의 중앙과 흡인구측 단부에 각각 환상(環狀)의 도전성판으로 이루어지는 전기접점(122, 124)이 설치된다. 전기접점(122, 124)은 센서회로의 스위치를 구성하고, 접점(122, 124)이 도전체로 접속되면 센서가 검출신호를 발생하도록 되어 있다. 이와 같은 상태는 예컨대, 사용자가 중앙의 접점(122)을 파지하고 또한 흡인구측의 접점(124)을 입으로 문다는 2개의 조건이 동시에 만족될 때이다. 이와 같이 하여 접점형 센서에 의해 검출된 사용자의 흡인동작신호는 제어회로(72)에 전달되고, 이 검출신호에 의거하여 토출 구동부(38)나 세라믹 히터(42)가 제어 가능하게 된다.
도 16은 본 발명의 또 다른 실시형태에 관한 향미생성물품을 나타내는 개략도이다.
이 실시형태의 향미생성물품은 도 1에 도시된 향미생성물품과 동일한 방향으로 배치된 토출 헤드(34)의 토출구(35) 및 토출구(35)에 대향하는 세라믹 히터(42)를 가진다. 그러나, 케이싱(12)은 제1 및 제2 부분(12a, 12b)(도 1 참조)으로 분리할 수 없고, 액체상의 원료(36), 토출 헤드(34), 세라믹 히터(42), 전원(62), 제어부(72) 등이 1개의 케이싱 본체(14)내에 내장되어 있다.
또한, 가스 유로(26)내에는 좁힘 판(21)(도 1 참조)이 설치되어 있지 않지만, 세라믹 히터(42)의 지지부재(44)가 토출 헤드(34)에 대응하는 중앙부에만 슬릿(slit)을 가지도록 형성된다. 따라서, 공기 입구(26)로부터의 공기는 모두 토출구(35)와 세라믹 히터(42)와의 사이의 갭을 통과하게 된다.
이상, 내용의 이해를 용이하게 하기 위해, 본 발명의 각 부분의 특징을 몇 가지 실시형태로 나누어 설명했지만, 이들의 특징은 목적에 따라 적당히 조합하는 것이 가능하다. 즉, 본 발명은 그 사상의 범위에 있어서, 도시한 실시형태 이외의 여러 가지로 실시하는 것이 가능하다.

Claims (14)

  1. 내부로 공기를 받아들이기 위한 공기 입구와 사용자가 향미(香味)를 흡인하기 위한 흡인구를 가짐과 동시에, 상기 입구와 상기 흡인구와의 사이에 가스 유로를 규정하는 케이싱(casing)과,
    적어도 향미물질을 포함하는 액체상의 원료를 저장함과 동시에 상기 원료의 토출구를 가지는, 상기 케이싱에 설치된 원료용기와,
    상기 토출구를 통해 상기 용기로부터 상기 원료를 액적(液滴)으로서 토출시키기 위한 토출구동수단과,
    상기 가스유로내에 설치되고, 상기 용기로부터 토출되는 상기 원료의 상기 액적을 수취함과 동시에 이것을 전기적으로 가열함으로써 가스화하기 위한 가스화 수단과,
    상기 가스화 수단에 전기 에너지를 공급하기 위한 전원을 구비하는 것을 특징으로 하는 향미생성물품.
  2. 제 1 항에 있어서,
    사용자의 흡인동작을 검출하는 센서와, 상기 센서로부터의 신호에 의거하여 상기 용기로부터 상기 원료를 토출시키도록 상기 토출구동수단을 제어하기 위한 제어수단을 더 구비하는 것을 특징으로 하는 향미생성물품.
  3. 제 2 항에 있어서,
    상기 센서가 상기 흡인구의 둘레에서 상기 케이싱상에 설치된 감압(感壓)센서를 구비하는 것을 특징으로 하는 향미생성물품.
  4. 제 2 항 또는 제 3 항에 있어서,
    상기 제어수단이 상기 센서로부터의 신호에 의거하여, 상기 가스화 수단이 발열하도록 상기 가스화 수단을 제어하는 것을 특징으로 하는 향미생성물품.
  5. 제 4 항에 있어서,
    상기 제어수단이 상기 원료의 토출에 앞서서, 상기 가스화 수단을 예열하도록 상기 가스화 수단 및 상기 토출구동수단을 제어하는 것을 특징으로 하는 향미생성물품.
  6. 제 1 항에 있어서,
    상기 전원이 상기 케이싱내에 설치되는 것을 특징으로 하는 향미생성물품.
  7. 제 6 항에 있어서,
    상기 케이싱이 케이블을 통해 전기적으로 접속된 제1 및 제2 부분으로 이루어지고, 상기 가스 유로, 상기 용기, 상기 토출 구동수단, 및 상기 가스화 수단이 상기 제1 부분내에 설치되고, 상기 전원이 상기 제2 부분내에 설치되는 것을 특징으로 하는 향미생성물품.
  8. 제 7 항에 있어서,
    상기 케이싱의 상기 제1 및 제2 부분이 접속부를 통해 착탈 가능한 것을 특징으로 하는 향미생성물품.
  9. 제 1 항에 있어서,
    상기 토출 구동수단을 수동으로 조작하기 위한 조작레버를 더 구비하는 것을 특징으로 하는 향미생성물품.
  10. 제 1 항 내지 제 9 항중 어느 한 항에 있어서,
    상기 가스화 수단이 다공질층을 구비하고, 상기 다공질층상에 상기 원료의 상기 액적이 공급되는 것을 특징으로 하는 향미생성물품.
  11. 제 1 항 내지 제 10 항중 어느 한 항에 있어서,
    상기 가스화 수단이 상기 토출구에 대향하도록 배치되고, 상기 토출구와 상기 가스화 수단과의 사이의 간격에 대하여 상기 공기 입구로부터의 공기를 지향하기 위한 좁힘 구멍이 상기 가스 유로내에 설치되는 것을 특징으로 하는 향미생성물품.
  12. 제 1 항 내지 제 11 항중 어느 한 항에 있어서,
    상기 가스화 수단과 상기 흡인구와의 사이에서 상기 가스 유로내에 바깥 공기를 도입하기 위해, 상기 케이싱에 바깥 공기 도입구멍이 형성되는 것을 특징으로 하는 향미생성물품.
  13. 제 1 항 내지 제 12 항중 어느 한 항에 있어서,
    상기 가스화 수단과 상기 흡인구와의 사이에 위치하도록 상기 가스 유로내에 설치된, 적어도 향미물질을 포함하는 고체상의 원료의 성형체를 더 구비하는 것을 특징으로 하는 향미생성물품.
  14. 제 13 항에 있어서,
    상기 성형체를 가열하기 위한 가열수단을 더 구비하는 것을 특징으로 하는 향미생성물품.
