922,056. Converters. METALLGESELLSCHAFT A.G. Jan. 22, 1962 [April 7, 1961], No. 2298/62. Class 72. Dust evolved in a metallurgical process is returned to the furnace, e.g. a converter 1 as shown, by depositing the dust from the exhaust gas, which preferably flows through a flue 2 and a cooler 3, in electrical or mechanical filters such as an electrostatic precipitator 4, collecting the dust in bunkers such as dust hoppers 5, and reintroducing it forcibly, preferably without using a carrier medium such as air, into the furnace through a lance 10, which may be located axially inside an oxygen lance as normally used in the process, by a concrete pump 8 such as connected to the lance by a flexible pipe 9 and supplied with dust from an intermediate hopper 7 fed from a conveyer 6.
