Abstract

Dry method of making cement in which alkali bearing gases produced in the furnace are used to preheat the incoming gases, and in which the alkali is removed from the gas at the entrance to the preheater by a device comprising a bundle of tubes inside the duct with thin upper end connected to a source of cold gas, and a means for periodically injecting cold liquid into the tubes so as to produce a sudden contraction to cause the crust of the deposited alkali condensed on the tubes to detach itself, as in the parent patent. A vibrator is installed which is set in motion each time the cold liquid is injected so that the crust is more easily, disaggregated, and the device is arranged in a side tube and the gas is aspirated into it by the cooling effect. The side tube enables the alkali particles to be collected in a hopper.
