891,053. Converters. PRAT, J. E. June 21, 1960, No. 21788/60. Class 72. [Also in Group XXVIII] Plant for the recovery of metal dust discharged during the blowing period of a converter S comprises a hood A surmounting the blower and into which ambient air is drawn through openings 4, 5 and 6 by a fan E to assist in oxidation of metal dust and in cooling thereof, a plurality of vertical refractory-walled ducts 9 within a tower B and down which dust-laden gas passes during a blowing period and up which ambient air passes during a non-blowing period to remove previously deposited dust, a water spray tower C wherein the temperature of the dust-laden mixture of air and gas is reduced to just above the dew point and below that permissible for subsequent filtration in a filter bag chamber D.
