Rotary furnaces.-A rotary furnace for roasting or reducing ores, having air or gas supply apertures distributed over the whole or part of its length as described, for example, in Specification 303,072 is adapted for the treatment of zincblende or other ores difficult to roast by supplying liquid, gaseous, or pulverized fuel at several points simultaneously. The fuel, which may be the one to be treated, in powdered form, is preferably introduced through the discharge end of the furnace and through the gas inlet apertures in the wall between this end and the main reaction zone.
