[Class 51 (ii)] A furnace for the treatment of pulverulent materials in suspension comprises a shaft - like body portion 1, an extension 3 of smaller diameter containing a cone 5 around which the material to be treated is introduced in gaseous suspension by a tangentially - directed inlet 4, the material entering the body portion between blades 6 connecting the cone and the lower part of the extension, and a rotary hearth 12, near which are tangentiallydirected burners 15, 9. Air for combustion is supplied through the belt 7, and gases are exhausted under suction through the cone 5. French Specification 774,593 is referred to.
