Abstract
An electromagnetic position indicator to indicate continuously the position of a linearly movable member, such as a nuclear reactor control rod, is operatively connected to a magnetic core member 12 which varies the inductive coupling between primary 14 and secondary windings. The secondary winding comprises pairs of series-opposed coils 20-36 spaced apart in the direction of movement of the core. A ponderation resistor is connected to each pair, R0-Rn, and a processing circuit receives voltages from the secondary winding terminals AB and AC and delivers a signal proportional to a resistance ratio indicating the position of the core member. <IMAGE>
