Abstract

1372573 Discharging coke ovens HARTUNG KUHN & CO MASCHINENFABRIK GmbH 21 Oct 1971 49088/71 Heading F4B Apparatus for collecting and de-dusting the gases produced during the discharge of a horizontal coking oven 1 comprises a hood 20, Fig. 1, connected to extraction and de-dusting apparatus via ducts 28, 30, 36, Fig. 2, and mounted on a frame 21 for movement towards and away from the coking chambers 2. Frame 21 is mounted on a lower frame 23 so that the hood may be moved along the face of the coking oven 1 on rails 26 mounted on supports 27. A coke cake guide 10 is mounted on a truck which is movable on rails 7 to locate the guide in front of a coking chamber 2, the truck being provided with door removing and cleaning means 12, 14 and door frame cleaning means 11. When the guide 10 and hood 20 are in position for discharging a coking chamber the joint between the guide and the oven is sealed by sealing strips 39 which abut oven tie members 5 and the joint between the guide and the hood by sealing strips (47), Fig. 5 (not shown), which are mounted on the hood and held in abutment with a plate (50) welded to the guide by electromagnets (48). The chamber enclosed by the sealing strips 39 and the members 5 is connected via a duct running through the guide 10 and a pipe 36 to extraction and de-dusting apparatus 35. An extension of the hood 20b running from the main part of the hood 20 towards a quenching tower may be provided with apertures 32a, 32b connected via a duct 33 to further extraction and de-dusting apparatus 34a, 34b. The supports 27 are so disposed that the lower frame 23 completely spans the coke ramp 18 and operating platform 19. The extraction and de-dusting devices may be vapour jet dust precipitators, the water boiler 57, vapour generator 58 and vapour accumulator 59 of which may be mounted on the frame 21.
