Abstract
1353206 Removing dust and fumes from coke ovens SIMON-CARVES Ltd 21 July 1971 [24 Aug 1970] 34107/71 Headings F4B and F4X A device for eliminating smoke and dust formation at the outlet of a horizontal coke oven battery, comprises a coke guide 24 movable on a car 25, a coke reception car 14 whose sloping loading surface 15 receives the coke, and a permanently fixed casing 26 covering the track of the car 14 over the full length of the battery and extending downwardly to the top of the car, the interior of the casing is divided by vertical cross walls 30 into cells whereby each cell has a sealable connection with a likewise permanently fixed flue gas exhaust main 34 running along the battery. The coke guide grating 24 is lined in a smoke tight manner at the top and bottom as well as at both sides. To avoid the formation of smoke when passing the carbonized coke charge across the oven platform 21 the guide grating is guided in a sealing body 37 which has a tubular vertical cross-section. In order to seal cells 31 of the casing 26 in the direction of the ovens, within which the discharging of the coke charge takes place, sealing walls 39 and 40 are provided.
