Abstract

1,155,598. Carding engines. T.M.M. (RESEARCH) Ltd. 10 Aug., 1966 [22 July, 1965], No. 31294/65. Headings DID and D1N. Web 13 from a carding engine is condensed by being fed through a first pair of condensing rollers 16, 17 inclined, e.g. as shown at 90‹, to the plane in which the web is fed to them and a second pair of condensing rollers 19 inclined to the plane in which the condensed web is fed to them. The web 13 comes from trash crushing rollers 14 receiving a web from the doffing cylinder of a textile card. The rollers 16, 17 may be offset with respect to the centre of web 13. In Fig. 5 not shown the web (13) is fed to an endless moving belt (22) at right angles to the upper surface thereof. The belt feeds the web in narrowed form to converging plates (23, 24) whence the web passes between two roller pairs (16, 17; 19, 20) arranged at right angles.
