Abstract

The invention relates to a package of the type comprising, on the one hand, a tray 12 forming a bottom, in which the articles 10 concerned are distributed parallel with one another and, on the other hand, a separator 13 forming a lid which has, parallel with one another and delimited by retaining strips 14, openings 15 by which it can be engaged on the articles 10 while isolating them from one another. According to the invention, the separator 13 forms a part which is separate from the tray 12, its retaining strips 14 extending transversely between two longitudinal members 16, 16' by which it is secured to two opposite side panels 17, 17' of the said tray 12 with, preferably, securing of these retaining strips 14 in their central zone to the bottom panel 18 of this tray 12. The present invention relates generally to packages which, made of corrugated cardboard or other suitable sheet material cut and folded, are intended for the packaging of various articles arranged in groups, for example glasses, leaving at least for party to view these articles for their presentation to potential customers.

 It relates more precisely to those of these packages which, overall, comprise on the one hand a tray, forming a bottom, in which the articles concerned are repctrtls parallel to each other1 and, on the other hand, a separator, forming a cover, which has , parallel to each other, the attires by which it is engaged on the said article by isolating them from each other, the said openings being delimited by parallel bands, called cr-apres, for simple convenience, bar, ds of retention, pare let them rip these articles to escape the whole.

 However, it has the following disadvantages.

 First of all, the very cutting of such a blank almost inevitably causes, given the relatively large size of the latter, significant drops, to the detriment of the cost price of the assembly.

 In addition, and also because of its size, this blank is relatively difficult to handle, and it therefore lends itself poorly to the mechanization of the operations necessary for its setting in volume.

 Finally, the separator then being indissolubly linked to the tray, any impression applied to this separator thereby relates to the entire blank, so that, when, as is the rule, different impressions must be provided according to the destinations , the corresponding modifications must relate to the entire blank.

 The present invention generally relates to a provision for overcoming these difficulties and also leading to other advantages.

 More specifically, it firstly relates to a packaging forming a presentation of cardboard, corrugated cardboard or other sheet material, for articles arranged in a group, in particular glasses, of the kind comprising, on the one hand, a tray forming bottom, in which the articles concerned are distributed parallel to each other, and, on the other hand, a separator, forming a cover, which has, parallel to each other, being delimited by parallel bands dates here for simple convenience bands restraint, dey; aDOurE ;; by which it is engaged on said articles by isolating them from each other, this packaging being generally characterized in that the separator forms a separate part of the tray, its retaining bands extending transversely between two sills by which it is subject to two opposite side panels of said tray; it also relates to blanks specific to the production of such packaging.

 Thanks to the arrangement according to the invention, it is advantageously possible to carry out separate manufacturing of the separator and the tray.

 The corresponding blanks are therefore smaller in scale, their handling is facilitated, and it is easy to mechanize if desired their volume and / or their establishment.

 In addition, it is advantageously possible, if desired, to produce these blanks in different materials.

 Furthermore, it is in practice on the external surface of the relevant side panel of the tray that at least one of the beams of the separator is applied to this side panel for its securing, for example by gluing, to the latter. , and, preferably, this is the case for both of the sills of this separator.

 Thus, the separator essentially forms the visible part of the resulting packaging, so that any impression which must appear on this packaging can very simply be applied to this single separator, and that, depending on the destinations, it is possible to print the corresponding separators separately while advantageously keeping the same production for the tray.

 The arrangement according to the invention therefore advantageously facilitates the adoption of specific impressions depending on the destination of the articles concerned.

In practice, too, the retaining bands of the separator of the packaging according to the invention are subject, in their central region, for example by gluing, to the bottom panel of the corresponding tray.
I1 e results in an effective blocking of the articles concerned and it also results in a guarantee of inviolability, the release of these articles from the packaging in which they are thus presented cannot be done without deterioration of at least one of the corresponding retaining bands immediately demonstrating that an attack has been made on the integrity of the assembly.

 Finally, the tray from which the separator is thus isolated can, if desired, easily lend itself, at the cost of minor adjustments, to a simple film packaging of the articles concerned.

The arrangement according to the invention therefore makes it possible, from the same production, to adopt one or other of these modes of packaging according to the destinations, and the standardization which results therefrom advantageously for the tray used in either case is favorable to a lowering of the cost price of the whole

 These figures illustrate by way of example the case where the articles 10 to be packaged are glasses, and, more precisely, stemware.

 The packaging 11 used for the packaging of these glasses 10, which are four in number here, comprises, in a manner known per se, on the one hand, a tray 12, forming a bottom, in which these glasses 10 are distributed parallel to each other, and, on the other hand, a separator 13, forming a cover, which has, parallel to each other, being delimited by parallel bands 14 here called for simple convenience retaining bands, openings 15 by which it is engaged on the glasses 10 by isolating them from each other.

 According to the invention, the separator 13 forms a separate part from the tray 12, its retaining strips 14 extending transversely between two sills 16, 16 'by which it is secured to two side panels 17, 17 opposite the tray 12.

 In the embodiment shown, the number of glasses 10 to be conditioned being equal to four, the separator 13 has three retaining bands 14, and it thus has four attires 15, two of which are defined by the retaining bands 14 taken two by two, and the other two of which extend respectively on either side of them.

 In a manner known per se, the tray 12, the outline of which is in practice quadrangular, comprises a bottom panel 18 and four side panels, namely, in addition to the side panels 17, 17 'already mentioned above, which form the longitudinal side panels, two side panels 19, 19 ', which, alternating with the previous ones, form the transverse side panels.

 One of the longitudinal side panels 17, 17 has, from place to place, the first along its free bnrd, in line with the glasses 10 concerned, extensions 20 whose contour is like the profile of the part corresponding of these glasses 10.

 In practice, only one of the longitudinal side panels 17, 17 ′ has such extensions 20, and it is, in this case, the longitudinal side panel 17 to which the foot 22 of the glasses 10 applies, and these extensions 20 therefore have an outline in an arc of a circle substantially along the diameter of this foot 22.

 The other longitudinal side panel of the tray 12, and it is therefore its longitudinal side panel 17 ', has, in one piece, from place to place, each respectively in line with the retaining bands 14 of the separator 13, tabs 24, which, each coming from a triangular half-moon cutout of this panel with longitudinal side 17 ', and bent at right angles, are each inserted respectively between two successive glasses 10, between cut 25 of those -this.

 Finally, the longitudinal side panels 17, 17 ', each extend at each of their ends, by a flap 26, suitable for joining them, by bonding, to the transverse side panels 19, 19' adjacent.

 As is easy to understand, and as illustrated by FIG. 1, the tray 12 thus formed can advantageously come in one piece from a blank of cardboard, corrugated cardboard or other suitably cut sheet material and grooved.

 For example, it is a double-sided corrugated cardboard blank.

 In FIG. 1, and in a conventional manner, the cut lines have been shown in solid lines and the fold lines in broken lines.

Thus the longitudinal side panels 17, 17 'are connected to the bottom panel 18 by parallel longitudinal fold lines 27, 27', as the transverse side panels 19, 19 'are connected to this bottom panel 18 by transverse fold lines 29, 29 'perpendicular to the preceding ones, that the tabs 24 are connected to the longitudinal side panel 17' to which they belong by fold lines 30 parallel to the transverse fold lines 29, 29 ', and that , likewise, the flaps 26 are connected to the longitudinal side panels 17, 17 'which they extend by fold lines 31 parallel to these transverse fold lines 29, 29'
At least one of the sills 16, 16 ′ of the separator 13 has, on the side of the retaining bands 14, on either side of these, lateral extensions 33 whose contour is like the profile of the corresponding part of the glasses 10 concerned.

 In the embodiment shown, only the sill 16 ', that is to say it disposed on the side of the section 25 of the glasses 10, thus has lateral extensions 33, and the outline of these is an arc of circle substantially along the diameter of this section 25.

In their middle part, and for reasons which will appear hereinafter, the retaining bands 14 of the separator 13 have an enlarged part 34, which, in the embodiment shown, has a generally rectangular outline.
From this widened part 34 to the beams 16, 16 ′, the retaining strips 14 have concave curved edges, for their adaptation to the profile of the glasses 10.

 As before, and as illustrated by FIG. 2, the separator 13 is formed in one piece from a blank which is suitably cut and grooved.

 For example, it is a blank of solid cardboard.

 At their ends, the retaining strips 14 are connected to the sills 16, 16 'by fold lines 36, 3C' which are parallel to the free edges of these sills 16, 16 ', and which, for each of these, are collinear.

The enlarged part 34 of the retaining bands 14 is connected to the rest of these by two fold lines 37, which, parallel to each other, and parallel to the previous fold lines 36, 36 ', delimit the outline thereof, and which are of the opposite fold direction to that of these fold lines 36, 36 '
For the packaging of the glasses 10 concerned, the blank corresponding to the tray 12 is first set in volume.

 In a manner known per se, the longitudinal side panels 17, 17 ′ are first of all, to do this, erected perpendicular to the bottom panel 18, with square bending and gluing of their flaps 26.

The transverse side panels 19, 19 'are then in turn erected perpendicular to the bottom panel
18, which leads them to apply to the flaps 26, and therefore to join with those ~.

 The tabs 24 of the longitudinal side panel 17 ′ are also deployed at right angles to this side panel 17 ′, FIG. 3, before the preceding volume setting operation, during this operation, or after that -this.

 As shown schematically by an arrow F1 in FIG. 3, the glasses 10 to be packaged are then placed in the tray 12 thus formed, with insertion between their cuts 25 of the previous tongues 24, these tongues 24 being intended to avoid any contact between them.

 As shown schematically by the arrow F2 in FIG. 3, the blank corresponding to the separator 13 is then engaged, by its azures 15, on the glasses 10, with insertion of its retaining bands 14 therebetween.

 When, by the fold lines 36, 36 'forming 1 roots of these retaining bands 14, this separator 13 makes contact with the edge of the longitudinal side panels 17, 17 of the tray 12, between the lateral extensions 20 of the panel inca tidinal side 17 as far as the latter is concerned, its sills 16, 16 ′ are bent at right angles, according to the arrows F3 in FIG. 3, for their folding against the longitudinal ctSt- panels 17, 17 ′ of the tray 12, however that, according to the arrows F4 in this FIG. 3, the engagement of the middle part 34 of the retaining bands 14 is continued, for its application to the bottom panel 18 of this tray 12.

 Of course, prior to this engagement of the separator 13, a gluing of the middle part 34 of its retaining bands 14, and / or of the corresponding portion of the bottom panel 18 of the tray 12 is carried out, as well as gluing its sills 16, 16 ', and / or gluing the side panels 17, 17' of this tray 12.

Anyway, at the end of the installation of the separator 13, the retaining bands 14 of this separator 13 are subject, in their median zone, by their widened part 34, to the bottom panel 18 of the tray 12, in practice by gluing, and, jointly, each of the sills 16, 16 'of this separator 13 is applied to the outer surface of the longitudinal side panel 17, 17' corresponding to the tray 12, being subject, in practice by bonding, to this longitudinal side panel 1 ?, 17
Because the median strips 14 of the separator 13 are thus secured in their median zone to the bottom panel 18 of the tray 12, this separator 13 ensures effective blocking of the glasses 10 concerned, which, on the one hand, prevents these glasses 10 escape the packaging 11 thus formed, and, on the other hand, guarantees their inviolability.

 As a corollary, owing to the fact that the sills 16, 16 ′ of the separator 13 are applied to the external surface of the side panels 17, 17 ′ of the tray 12 to which they are subject, it is these that are apparent.

If the packaging 11 must be provided with a print, and
If, for example, it has to carry a decoration, it suffices to apply it to the only separator 13.

 As it is easy to understand, by following the contour of the corresponding part of the glasses 10 concerned, and preferably by slightly projecting therefrom, the lateral extensions 20 of the longitudinal side panel 17 of the tray 12 and those 33 of the sill 16 'of the separator 13 advantageously provide protection against impact of these glasses 10.

 In the embodiment shown, such lateral extensions have only been provided along one of the longitudinal side panels of the tray 12 and only along one of the beams of the separator 13, by arranging these lateral extensions. so that there are both on the side of the base 22 of the glasses 10 and on the side of their cut 25, but it goes without saying that, from the tray 12 to the separator 13, their respective locations could be reversed, and / or that there could be one and the other of the longitudinal side panels of the casing 12 and / or on one and the other of the beams of the separator 13.

 In FIG. 3, it has previously been assumed, in broken lines, that such lateral extensions 20 fitted one and the other of the longitudinal side panels 17, 17 ′ of the tray 12.

 This is the case, in particular, when, for the constitution of a simplified packaging 11 ′, and as shown diagrammatically in FIG. 6, this tray 12 is used in isolation, without the separator 13, the maintenance of the glasses 10 concerned being done simply using a transparent shrink film 40 enveloping the assembly.

 In all cases, whether it therefore comprises a separator 13 or which it does not, the packaging -11, 11 'leaves at least partially in view the glasses 10 concerned, and it thus constitutes a display for these glasses 10, either that, as shown in FIG. 5, it is placed flat, by its bottom panel 18, or that, it is placed upright on its longitudinal side panel 17 corresponding to the base 22 of these glasses 10.

 Nothing heard, the present invention is not limited to the embodiment described and shown, but encompasses any variant.

 Its field of application is not limited either to that of the packaging of glasses alone, but more generally extends to that of the packaging of any article.

Claims (11)

 1. Packaging forming a display stand made of cardboard, corrugated cardboard or other sheet material, for articles (10) arranged in a group, in particular glasses, of the type comprising, on the one hand, a tray (12), forming a bottom, in which the articles (10) concerned are distributed parallel to each other, and, on the other hand, a separator (13), forming a cover, which has, parallel to each other, being delimited by parallel strips (14), called below, for simple convenience, retaining bands, openings (15) by which it is engaged on said articles (10) by isolating them from each other, characterized in that the separator (13) forms a separate part from the tray (12), its retaining bands (14) extending transversely between two sills (16, 16 ') by which it is secured to two tee panels (17, 17') opposite to said tray (12).  2. Packaging according to claim 1, characterized in that, in their central region, the retaining strips (14) of the separator t13) are subject to the bottom panel (18) of the tray (12).  3. Packaging according to claim 2, characterized in that the retaining bands (14) of the separator (13) are secured to the bottom panel (18) of the tray (12) by an enlarged portion (34).  4. Packaging according to any one of claims 1 to 3, characterized in that at least one of the sills (16, 16 ') of the separator (13) is applied to the outer surface of the side panel (17, 17 ') of the tray (12) to which it is subject.  5. Packaging according to claim 4, characterized in that the side panel (17 ') concerned of the tray (12) has, in one piece7 from place to place, each respectively in line with the retaining bands (14) of the separator (13), tongues (24), which, each coming from a cutout of this side panel (17 '), and folded at right angles, are each respectively inserted between two successive articles (10).  6. Packaging according to any one of claims 4, 5, characterized in that each of the sills (16, 16 ') of the separator (13) is applied to the outer surface of the side panel (17, 17') of the tray (12) to which it is subject.  7. Packaging according to any one of claims 1 to 6, characterized in that at least one of the sills (16, 16 ') of the separator (13) has, on the side of the retaining bands (14), on the and other of these, lateral extensions (33) whose outline is like the profile of the corresponding part of the articles (10) concerned.  8. Packaging according to any one of claims 1 to 7, characterized in that at least one of the side panels (17, 17 ') concerned of the tray (12) has, from place to place, along its free edge, in line with the articles (10) concerned, lateral extensions (20) whose outline is like the profile of the corresponding part of said articles (10).  9. Packaging according to any one of claims 1 to 8, characterized in that the tray (12) is made of corrugated cardboard and the separator (13) of solid cardboard n  10.
