Abstract

The automatic plant watering system for outdoor use, has a valve chamber (10) with a connection (11) for a water supply line (12) and a second connection (14) for a line (15) for delivering water to the plants to be watered. The chamber supports a balance arm (18) with an adjustable balance weight (64) one end and a control device (52) mounted on the other end. This device is a spongy mass which allows the arm to swing with the balance weight lowered, so as to open the valve inside the chamber, and allow water to flow. As flow takes place, water also passes through a branch line on the side of the valve, to travel through a tube (5) which discharges into a collector (53) above the sponge (52), to saturate it. The weight of the water absorbed is sufficient to tilt the arm back to operate the valve and that of the supply to the plants and to the sponge.
