Abstract

L'invention concerne la métallurgie des non ferreux. Le procédé faisant l'objet de l'invention est du type comprenant une réduction du zinc par introduction d'un réducteur au sein d'un bain de fusion dudit laitier et admission d'un gaz inerte au sein dudit bain de fusion, et est caractérisé en ce que le gaz inerte utilisé est l'azote, que l'on admet ce dernier dans ledit bain de fusion à raison de 0,5 à 3,5 nm** 3/mn par m**2 de surface du bain (nm**3 exprimant le volume d'azote en m** 3 dans les conditions normales), et que la température dudit bain est maintenue dans une plage de 1220 à 1400 degrés C. L'invention permet d'intensifier le processus de réduction du zinc avec une consommation d'énergie plus basse que dans les procédés connus.
