Abstract
Vessel is provided with at least one outlet; and at least part of the vessel is surrounded by a short induction heating coil employed to keep the metal being cast or treated at the correct temp. When used for continuous casting, the chilled mould is esp. mounted and centered on the outlet from outside the vessel, esp. using a connector in which the mould is located. The connector is pref. replaceable, and butts against the refractory lining of the vessel. The external dimensions of the connector are pref. unchanged, but its bore is altered to suit the mould. Arrangement avoids blockage of an outlet channel during casting or treatment of molten metals.
