Abstract

The maize harvester has stalk parters and pull-in drums (2, 3) with associated flights which rotate to pass cut stalks to the drums behind. On the end of the inside guide surfaces of the parters and spaced ahead of the pull-in rolls is a grab roll (7) driven from below through a shaft and fitted with single flights (8-10) for stalk conveying. The roll (7) is enclosed at the end of one guide surface by a guide into whose path the cutter knife extends to part the stalks. The roll (7) lies within the path of one parter so tht preferably the extended inner guide path on this cute through the roll (7) as a secant on the drum side facing the opposite parter. From this point the line, of the guide falls back to the gap between the pull in rolls to form a fixed cover (12d) over the grab roll.
