Abstract

Very fine particles of controlled size can be produced from a liquid which is entrained in droplet form in a current of freezing gas, the spray then being directed on to a rough surface e.g. the bristle-tips of a brush, upon which the particles solidify ready for collection. The process is used in the production of foodstuffs, chemicals and pharmaceuticals.
