Abstract

Freezing or condensing process, partic. for freeze-dried foods, pharmaceuticals and chemical products is carried out in a container into which a fluid refrigerant is introduced together with a product to be frozen, usually in finely divided or spray form; the container has a perforated wall through which the fluid escapes whilst the frozen product is retained for collection. The compact, inexpensive plant effects immediate and complete separation of product from entraining fluid, which can be collected for re-use.
