Definitions
- the invention relates to an inflatable body and a use of the inflatable body in a system for drying and/or smoothing a textile piece.
- Inflatable bodies for drying and/or smoothing a piece of textile are known per se. Textile pieces are first pulled onto an inflatable body that essentially has the shape of the piece of textile to be smoothed. The inflatable body is then inflated from the inside with air or steam. The piece of textile is stretched and the drying and smoothing of a piece of textile takes place partly via the pressure exerted on the piece of textile by the inflated inflatable body.
- the casing of the inflatable body can have a certain air permeability to allow air to flow through the piece of textile.
- the publication DE 103 39 722 A1 describes, for example, an inflatable body for drying and/or smoothing textile pieces, wherein the inflatable body is made from cut pieces with at least three different air permeabilities.
- the publication WO 2010 010 405 A1 describes a device for ironing clothing, the device comprising an outer inflatable body with a torso section and two sleeve sections, and an inner inflatable body which consists essentially of an air-impermeable material, the air supply for the sleeve sections and for the torso section being carried out separately via the inner inflatable body.
- the publication DE 20 2017 002 115 U1 describes a shirt ironer with a heating device, a blower, a hot air outlet and an inflatable, at least partially air-permeable doll over which the shirt is pulled and into whose interior the hot air outlet opens, whereby the doll has a torso section and inflatable arms extending from the torso section which are inserted into the shirt sleeves, and whereby during operation the torso section and the arms are inflated by air introduced into the interior of the doll and the shirt and sleeves are stretched, dried and ironed.
- a wall forming the doll has sections with different air permeability.
- an inflatable body with sections of different air permeability can be complex.
- the smoothing, ie the removal of wrinkles, of such an inflatable body often needs to be improved.
- a user can only treat (dry, smooth) a single piece of fabric at a time. This means a lot of time is spent if several pieces of fabric are to be treated.
- the object of the present invention was to provide an inflatable body in which the disadvantages of the prior art are reduced.
- the inflatable body should also be able to be used for time-saving use in smoothing or drying several pieces of textile.
- this object is achieved by an inflatable body and a use of an inflatable body in a system for drying and/or smoothing textile items according to the independent patent claims.
- Preferred embodiments of the invention are listed in the respective dependent patent claims.
- Preferred embodiments of the inflatable body correspond to preferred embodiments of the use of the inflatable body in a system for drying and/or smoothing textile items and vice versa, even if this is not specifically mentioned here.
- the present invention thus relates to an inflatable body for drying and/or smoothing a piece of textile, wherein the inflatable body has at least one set of several chambers connected to one another by means of a movable connecting element, wherein two of the chambers are in contact via an overpressure element, preferably a pressure relief valve, such that an exchange of air and/or steam, preferably air, is possible between the chambers and the several chambers can be filled with air and/or steam one after the other starting from a first chamber.
- an elastic air hose is preferably located in or on the inflatable body.
- a textile item is preferably a piece of clothing.
- inflatable body is understood here to mean both the filled and the emptied inflatable body.
- the inflatable body or its chambers can therefore be in an empty or filled state.
- the filled state refers to a state in which the inflatable body or its chambers are inflated, i.e. swollen. The internal pressure in the chambers is then greater than the atmospheric pressure.
- the inflatable body is generally made of a flexible plastic material that has sufficient flexibility and thermal and mechanical stability for use in the inflatable body.
- a piece of textile to be treated i.e. a piece of textile that is to be dried and/or smoothed, is generally placed over the inflatable body in the deflated state, i.e. pulled over it, so that the piece of textile is stretched by the inflatable body in the filled state.
- the first chamber is designed to be able to be connected to a first gas supply unit for air and/or steam, so that the first chamber can be first supplied with air and/or steam when filling the chambers.
- the first gas supply unit preferably provides air, whereby the air can be warm or cold.
- the temperature of the air is not particularly limited.
- the air used preferably has a temperature in the range of 20 to 40°C.
- At least one of the chambers has a crease-removal device.
- This enables wrinkles, in particular macroscopic wrinkles, to be removed before the treatment that is generally carried out, e.g. in a treatment cabinet.
- the individual chambers are filled with air and/or steam starting with the first chamber, the chambers move along the piece of textile applied to the inflatable body during the filling, e.g. with compressed air, in particular the already filled chambers.
- the piece of textile is smoothed to a certain extent due to the friction between the piece of textile and the inflatable body. This friction and thus smoothing can advantageously be increased by using a suitable crease-removal device.
- the crease-removal device is preferably selected from a group consisting of a plastic mat, a stationary brush and a rotatable brush.
- a plastic mat preferably made of rubber, can thus exert an increased friction effect on the piece of textile.
- the same also applies to a stationary brush and a rotatable brush.
- a rotating brush can already be rotated by the translational movement of the chamber to which the rotating brush is attached, due to the friction on the piece of fabric.
- an improved smoothing result can be achieved by allowing the duration and intensity of a brushing and thus smoothing treatment to be adjusted as desired over a wide range.
- the rotating brush can therefore be driven by an electric motor.
- the friction on the piece of fabric and thus the degree of smoothing can be adjusted via the duration and rotation speed of the rotating brush.
- the electric motor is preferably attached to the rotating brush. The power supply can be ensured via a suitably attached cable.
- At least one crease removal device is arranged on the first chamber.
- a crease removal device at each of the opposite ends of the first chamber.
- Crease removal devices of the same type are preferably used, for example only rotatable rollers.
- an inflatable body which has a suspension device at the end of the set of several chambers opposite the first chamber, on which an interface for a first gas supply unit for air and/or steam, preferably for air, in particular compressed air, is preferably arranged.
- the first gas supply unit preferably supplies the lowest chamber or the chamber of the inflatable body which is furthest away, e.g. horizontally, with compressed air via a flexible air hose.
- the hanging device can also be described as a type of coat hanger. Depending on the piece of fabric, some buttons may then have to be closed.
- the inflatable body has two chambers, the first chamber being smaller than the second chamber.
- the smaller chamber preferably has at least a height that prevents the textile piece from becoming slanted during expansion. The smaller chamber then expands to the entire height of the textile piece.
- Using only two chambers reduces the complexity of the inflatable body and thus also the costs.
- fewer valves and possible diversions of the air paths are required, so that pressure losses can be reduced and the necessary power for the compressed air supply (e.g. fan) can be reduced.
- the inflatable body has at least three chambers, the first chamber having an inner framework.
- the first chamber is preferably designed such that it is larger than the remaining chambers when emptied. This embodiment is particularly advantageous due to the higher mechanical stability of the first chamber if a crease removal device is attached to the first chamber.
- the movable connecting element connecting the chambers preferably comprises or consists of an elastic plastic and/or a telescopic system.
- an elastic connecting element e.g. a rubber band.
- the movable connecting element supports the structure of the inflatable body by holding the set of several chambers together.
- the movable connecting element can support the emptying of the chambers after a treatment has been carried out by pulling in a direction that is opposite to the direction of movement of the filling chambers.
- One or more connecting elements can be used.
- the chambers are preferably connected over the height of the inflatable body, wherein the movable connecting element is additionally preferably fixed to the generally used suspension device.
- the elastic connecting element(s) of the chambers can be located outside or inside the inflatable body. If the elastic connecting element(s) are located inside the inflatable body, the number can be reduced to one and the elastic connecting element can be connected to the preferably used elastic air hose. In this way, a simple structure can be achieved.
- the movable connecting element can also be a telescopic system. This allows the essentially linear movement of the filling chambers to be more controllable, which results in an improvement in the smoothing result. This is especially true if the telescopic system is controlled by an electric motor, for example, since the movement is more reproducible and independent of the used air or steam and the elasticity of an elastic connecting element.
- the movable connecting element can also be returned by a return mechanism, e.g. by using a torsion spring to wind up a rubber band.
- the inflatable body according to the invention can also have several sets of interconnected chambers.
- the exact design of the inflatable body will generally depend on the piece of textile to be treated, i.e. whether it is a shirt, trousers or bed linen, for example.
- the piece of textile that can be treated according to the invention is not limited in itself. In general, however, a piece of textile that can be treated will have an internal volume and will be able to expand. If the inflatable body has several sets of interconnected chambers, these sets can be isolated or connected.
- two sets of interconnected chambers branch off from a central upper chamber, so that the sleeves of a shirt can also be expanded in a targeted manner. This would enable an improved smoothing result for the sleeves.
- the chambers for the sleeves each form a separate inflatable body, the chambers of which can also be filled successively.
- Separate inflatable bodies can also preferably be attached to a suspension device and more preferably also filled by means of a first gas supply unit attached there.
- the inflatable body is generally designed to empty the chambers filled with air and/or steam in order to achieve an unfilled state of the chambers, ie generally after a treatment in a treatment cabinet.
- the inflatable body or its chambers can be designed so that the chamber walls have a certain permeability. However, this would generally require a constant supply of a sufficient amount of air, for example, during a smoothing or drying treatment.
- Another possibility is to enable a separate opening of the chambers, whereby the Chambers can also be pulled or pushed together using the movable connecting element. For example, vacuum valves could be used.
- the invention also relates to the use of an inflatable body described herein in a system for drying and/or smoothing textile items, preferably items of clothing, wherein the system comprises a treatment cabinet and the inflatable body, wherein the treatment cabinet has a first gas supply unit for air and/or steam for filling the inflatable body with air or steam and a second gas supply unit for warm air and/or steam, with which textile items applied to the inflatable body can be treated directly.
- the second gas supply unit for warm air and/or steam has a heating device and a fan. This enables the textile pieces attached to the inflatable body to be exposed to the warm air and/or steam in a particularly efficient manner.
- an inflatable body in which the system for drying and/or smoothing textile pieces has an input magazine in front of the treatment cabinet and an output magazine after the treatment cabinet for inflatable bodies suspended from the suspension device and provided with textile pieces, wherein the system is set up to convey the suspended inflatable body in an unfilled state into the treatment cabinet, to fill it there with gas or steam and to empty the suspended inflatable body in a filled state after a treatment in the treatment cabinet and/or to convey it to the output magazine.
- One piece of textile is preferably applied to a hanging device (e.g. coat hanger) and moved sequentially into the treatment cabinet with an input magazine.
- a hanging device e.g. coat hanger
- individual pieces are generally treated with an input and output magazine.
- several pieces of textile can be smoothed or dried directly one after the other.
- the exact design of the hanging device is generally chosen so that it is compatible with the magazines and the treatment cabinet.
- different programs i.e. programs that can be selected by a user
- a control unit in the treatment cabinet could enable the selection of an intensive program or a gentle program, with individual programs repeating a filling and emptying step several times.
- the repeated expansion of the chambers can thus achieve an improved smoothing process.
- the filling and emptying of the chambers can therefore also be carried out several times in order to achieve a better smoothing result.
- Some or all of the air chambers can be emptied simultaneously or one after the other and the process then repeated.
- compressed air is generally fed into the first, i.e. lowest chamber, via a compressed air interface on the hanging device. This then inflates until the outer area of the first chamber touches and pre-tensions the piece of textile in the upper area, so that static friction occurs between the outside of the filled chamber and the piece of clothing. This already leads to a reduction in wrinkles. If the specified internal pressure is exceeded, the overpressure element of the first chamber opens and a direct connection is formed to the next chamber, so that this is also filled with compressed air and thus also unfolds.
- the unfolding of the individual chambers leads to a translational movement of the chambers in the negative y-direction.
- the result is a sliding friction directed in the negative y-direction.
- a further increase in the internal pressure then leads to a filling of a third chamber.
- the system according to the invention is preferably designed to empty the suspended inflatable body in the filled state after the treatment has been carried out in the treatment cabinet and before it is transported to the output magazine. This generally means releasing the air or steam under excess pressure.
- the emptying of the filled chambers after treatment is done, for example, via a leak (e.g. when using a slightly permeable material for the chambers).
- a leak e.g. when using a slightly permeable material for the chambers.
- this requires careful monitoring and, if necessary, constant refilling with, for example, compressed air during treatment.
- the air can also be actively sucked out of the chambers, for example by using a blower with a reversible direction of rotation.
- a blower with a reversible direction of rotation.
- additional vacuum valves that block in the event of excess pressure and release the air when emptying in the opposite direction to that of inflation. This would have the advantage that the chambers can be emptied more quickly and the overall treatment time could be significantly reduced.
- the pressure relief valves can also be designed in such a way that they can be opened, preferably automatically in the treatment cabinet, and the air is pressed out of the filled chambers by the elastic connecting element, for example.
- This effect can alternatively also be achieved by additional, preferably automatically opened valves in each chamber, which are connected to the ambient air and allow the compressed air to escape there.
- the valves would preferably be opened in the same order. This means that the lowest chambers are evacuated first, and those further up last. This procedure prevents the shirt from being rolled up again when the chambers are evacuated.
- the invention has numerous advantages.
- the invention makes it possible for the piece of textile to be treated to be stretched beforehand, i.e. tensions are introduced into the piece of textile, for an improved smoothing result, i.e. for an improved removal of wrinkles, even before the usual process steps in a treatment cabinet, in which air of different humidity and temperature and for different periods of time can be used.
- the piece of textile is pre-treated from the inside, so to speak, and the smoothing result, which is mainly achieved by other principles, is thus further improved.
- the invention also makes it possible for the textile piece to be placed on the hanging device or the inflatable body with little effort.
- manual activities can be limited to loading an inflatable body or a magazine.
- the system can be designed in such a way that the treatment cabinet processes all textile pieces in the input magazine one after the other without further intervention by a user.
- the tension is caused by the chambered inflatable body located in the textile piece, which is inflated and, when inflated, tensions the textile piece in multiple dimensions. Due to the directed filling of the chambers, the present invention advantageously results in a movement of the inflatable body directed in the negative y-direction, which tensions the textile piece, for example, in the vertical direction, so that folds or creases, in particular macroscopic folds, are at least partially removed from the textile piece.
- Figure 1 shows various filled states of an inflatable body 1 according to the invention.
- 3 means a movable connecting element, which is designed here as an elastic rubber band.
- 18 means a flexible air hose that extends from an interface (not shown in detail here) in a suspension device 11 to the lowest, i.e. first, chamber 4.
- 2 means a piece of textile, in particular a piece of clothing.
- the number of filled chambers increases from left to right. It can be seen that first the first chamber 4 and then the second or further chambers 5 are filled. The inflow of compressed air is indicated by small arrows. The direction of movement of the filled or filling chambers 4, 5 is indicated by the two thick arrows.
- first chamber 4 there are plastic mats as crease removal devices, which can remove or at least reduce folds or creases in the piece of textile due to the friction effect when they move downwards.
- 6 means a pressure relief valve. When a predetermined maximum pressure is reached in a chamber, the pressure relief valve 6 between two chambers opens so that compressed air can pass through to fill the still empty chamber.
- Fig. 2 shows an enlarged view of the Fig.1 among others shown inflatable body with completely filled chambers 4, 5. Otherwise, the same reference numerals have the same meaning as in Fig.1 .
- Fig.3 shows two enlarged views of an inflatable body 1 with completely filled chambers 4,5, in which two crease removal devices 9,10 are attached to the first chamber 4.
- Fig. 3a are the Crease removal devices two stationary busts 9 and in Fig. 3b two rotating brushes 10.
- the small arrow in the right rotating brush 10 indicates the direction of rotation of the rotating brush 10, whereby the rotation can be carried out by an electric motor not shown here.
- a cable for the power supply can run inside the chambers. Otherwise, the same reference symbols have the same meaning as in Fig.1 .
- Fig.4 shows various creases or folds, especially in B a macroscopic fold.
- Fig.5 shows a system according to the invention for drying and/or ironing an item of clothing with a treatment cabinet 12 and an input magazine 16 and an output magazine 17.

- the open arrows show the direction of movement of the inflatable bodies 1 or the items of clothing 2 from the input magazine 16 via the treatment cabinet 12 to the output magazine 17, which can be controlled here by a control device (not shown) in the treatment cabinet 12.
- the already pre-tensioned items of clothing 2 are further treated in the treatment cabinet 12, in which warm air is passed past the item of clothing by a second gas supply unit 13, here consisting of a heating device 14 and a fan 15. This causes further ironing and drying of the items of clothing 2 to be treated.
