Abstract
En la presente se describen composiciones para la higiene bucal que comprenden un antimetabolito de desoxiazúcar, y métodos para inhibir la formación de biopelícula microbiana y/o degradar una biopelícula microbiana en un sujeto. Reivindicación 1: Un método para inhibir la formación de biopelícula microbiana y/o degradaruna biopelícula microbiana en la cavidad bucal de un sujeto, caracterizado porque comprende administrar al sujeto una composición para la higiene bucal que comprende un antimetabolito de desoxiazúcar sin agente antibacteriano adicional y un portador aceptable a nivel bucal. Reivindicación 2: El método de acuerdo con la reivindicación 1, caracterizado porque elantimetabolito de desoxiazúcar es un compuesto de fórmula (1), en donde: R¹ es H, OH, CH₃, NH₂ o halógeno; R² es H, OH, CH₃, NH₂ o halógeno; R³ es H, OH, CH₃, NH₂ o halógeno; R⁴ es H, OH, NH₂ o halógeno; y al menos tres entre R¹, R², R³ y R⁴ son OH. Reivindicación 10: El método de acuerdo con la reivindicación 9, caracterizado porque elantimetabolito de desoxiazúcar se selecciona entre el grupo que consiste en 6-desoxi-D-glucosa, 2-fluoro-2-desoxi-D-glucosa, y sus mezclas. Reivindicación 11: El método de acuerdo con la reivindicación 8, caracterizado porque elantimetabolito de desoxiazúcar es 2-amino-2-desoxi-D-manosamina. Reivindicación 16: Una composición para la higiene bucal para inhibir la formación de biopelícula microbiana y/o degradar una biopelícula microbiana en la cavidad bucal de un sujeto, caracterizada porque comprende un antimetabolito de desoxiazúcar, en donde el antimetabolito de desoxiazúcar está presente en la composición a una concentración menor a aproximadamente 1% en peso sobre la base del peso total de la composición; un portador aceptable a nivel bucal para una pasta dental, una crema dental, un enjuague bucal, una goma de mascar o un adhesivo para dentadura postiza; uno o más agentes seleccionados entre el grupo que consiste en agente anti-placa, agente blanqueador, agente de limpieza, agente saborizante, agente edulcorante, agentes de adhesión, agentes tensoactivos, moduladores de espuma, abrasivos, agentes modificadores del pH, humectantes, agentes para la sensación bucal, colorantes, abrasivo, agente de control de sarro (anti-cálculos), fuente de iones fluoruro, agentes estimuladores de saliva, agente anti-sensibilidad, agente antioxidante, nutrientes, modificadores de la viscosidad, diluyentes, opacadores, agentes refrescantes del aliento, y sales de zinc, y combinaciones de los mismos; y no contiene un agente antibacteriano adicional.
