Abstract

En un método para cargar metales de grano fino, en particular hierro reducido directamente (IRD), dentro de un horno de arco eléctrico (1), el metal se suministra vía un tubo de bajada (12) hacia una abertura (10) suministrada en el techo del horno (4), se introduce dentro del horno (1) a través de esta abertura (10) como una corriente de material a granel (11) y cae sobre la fundición (13) solamente por gravedad. Además, se describe un horno de arco eléctrico (1) adecuado pare este propósito. Una introducción bastante libre de perdidas aún de material granulado finamente que tiene un tamaño de grano promedio de menos de 1 mm se logra pasando la corriente de material a granel (11) a través de un orificio de dosificación (8) después del tubo de bajada (12) y antes de entrar al horno (1). Luego la corriente de material a granel (1) entra al horno esencialmente sin interrupción.
