Oppfinnelsen angår et hittil ukjent 3,9-diazabisyklo[3.3.1]nonenderivat og enantiomerene derav og anvendelsen derav som aktive ingredienser i fremstillingen av farmasøytiske preparater. Oppfinnelsen angår også relaterte aspekter, herunder fremgangsmåter til fremstillingen av forbindelsene, farmasøytiske preparater som inneholder minst én forbindelse ifølge formel (I) eller dennes (1R, 5S)-enantiomer og spesielt deres anvendelse som renininhibitorer.
