I find it fantastic, wherever I am in the world, to immediately read divergent opinions, about restaurants, excursions, guides, cafes, etc.....

Trip Advisor is a good tool to obtain an initial third party opinion. I would advise each user to look at a individual assessment/review in such a way that it fits your own personal situation. So if you travel with kids, look at the assessment of somebody that travelled with kids as well.

Tripadvisor is a tool you can use to find secret places , Nice Restaurants and hadden gems .

We use trip advisor before our holidays to book accommodations and during our holidays to choose restaurants. The reviews are always accurate and honest.

Trip Advisor is a handy companion for every trip, as an advisor for places you've never been before or to discover new places and restaurants in your direct neighborhood. The only negative is, the quality of the reviews is highly irregular, varying from highly subjective without any arguments to support an opinion, to members who really take their time to write a decent review with pros and cons. So, it takes some time to scroll through the reviews, trying to find balanced reviews. Unlike Google Maps, Trip Advisor only contains hotel, restaurant, coffee(bar) and tourist attractions and excursions reviews, while going on a trip also shops, supermarkets and general appliance stores reviews would be helpful.

According to my OWN experience, its always nice to get an opinion from TripAdvisor before you decide to make a reservation in a hotel or restaurant. Most of the time you can trust on that.
