Vorwerk bought Neato robots and the cloud services stopped recently. So our 500 euros robot is now down, only working in gradient mode. Awfull experience.

Bought a TM7 for €1600. It arrived broken and Vorwerk is refusing to do anything. I will never buy from them again.

Not impressed with discontinuing support for Neato robot vacuums. They’ve created a load of waste from what are perfectly useable products. Wasn’t counting on having to buy a new robot vacuum four years after I got my neato. Mine doesn’t even work in dumb mode bc it’s stuck looking for the app.

Shutting down cloud services without local alternatives. Products are basically useless, at least in my case.

You buy an expensive Neato robot vacuum (Vorwerk brand) so you can program it. But since updating their servers is too expensive, they shut it down. As a result, you end up with a budget robot.

I was going to consider a Thermomix, but I'll have to rethink that! Not just disappointed, disgusted. When they sold it to me, the $1000 price tag wasn't a problem for them!

What a shitty company. Buy a robotic company only to shut it down, and leave users with a now not so smart device. I am selling my Thermomix who knows, maybe in a few months this crap company will remove all functionality from this as well, making it a 999$ blender. Don’t you dare promise me something else, you promised Neato until 2028, only to give me the finger a few months later, and shut down Neato servers. Don’t buy products made from this shitty company, they will screw you over.

The worst part, they won’t release the source code, of the neato robotics so it can be open sourced, probably because they use it for their Kobold robot, but really then they could just port us to that platform form.

A very shitty move, from a shitty and greedy company. Causing perfectly working vacuums into waste!

Be weary of Vorwerk Group service, the might pull the rug and leave your devices useless. I own a Neato D7, which depends on cloud-services to fully function. Vorwerk Group shut down the cloud-services and in consequence has render my robot vacuum useless. Not an honest company.

They bought Neato Robotics, the Botvac vacuum robot company. After that, they shut down the servers, necessary for several functions for the vacuum robots. They have become e-waste now. No refund, no alternatives, no open source, nothing.

Terrible. They just take your money and then kill all the functions of your Neato botvac by getting their cloud offline. Thiefs if you ask me!

I am writing this to warn anyone considering a purchase from the Vorwerk Group. This company has proven that their word means nothing. After acquiring Neato Robotics, Vorwerk explicitly promised the public and loyal customers that they would maintain cloud services and app support until at least 2028.
They lied. In late 2025, Vorwerk prematurely shut down the Neato servers, three years ahead of schedule. My expensive Neato robot, which is still in perfect mechanical condition, has been stripped of its "smarts." I can no longer use the app, set schedules, use "no-go" zones, or see cleaning maps. It is now a glorified manual floor sweeper.
This sets a terrifying precedent for all their other brands. If Vorwerk is willing to pull the plug on Neato users to save on server costs, they will eventually do the same to Thermomix or Kobold owners. Once they want you to upgrade to a newer model, they can simply disable the software on your current one.
Before you buy, know that Vorwerk Group owns and operates:
Thermomix® / Bimby® (The "smart" kitchen appliance and Cookidoo® platform)
Kobold / Folletto (High-end vacuum cleaners and floor systems)
Nexaro (Commercial cleaning robotics)

I will never give this group another cent of my money. If you value long-term support and a company that honors its commitments, look elsewhere.

I purchased two Neato Robotics vacuums in August 2020 and 2021, a significant investment for my family. They were well maintained and worked perfectly—until Neato/Vorwerk remotely disabled the core functionality.

Only after my robots suddenly disappeared from the app did I learn (via an email sent to spam) that Neato cloud services are being phased out in Q4 2025. Customer support later confirmed this, explaining that Neato ceased operations in 2023 and that the cloud platform is now being shut down due to “updated cybersecurity and compliance requirements.”

Let’s be clear: this explanation is not acceptable.

These robots were sold as connected, smart devices, where mapping, scheduling, multi-room cleaning, and navigation are core features, not optional extras. Removing cloud access turns a premium LiDAR-based robot into a basic, dumb vacuum that can only be started by pressing a button. That is a material downgrade of the product I paid for.

Blaming “evolving cybersecurity standards” is not a justification—it is a business decision. Compliance, security, and system maintenance are the manufacturer’s responsibility, not the customer’s risk to absorb years after purchase. If the product required cloud services to function as advertised, then those services should have been designed to last—or the hardware should have been made independent of them.

Customer support insists that:

“The robot still works manually” → That is not what was sold

“Warranty and support remain available” → Support for a crippled product is meaningless

“This was done to protect customer data” → Disabling products without proper notice does not build trust; it destroys it

I invested in two robots with an expected lifespan of many years. Instead, they were remotely devalued overnight, with no real alternative, no firmware fallback, no local mode, and no compensation offered.

This is a textbook example of planned obsolescence via cloud dependency.

I will not purchase Vorwerk products again, and I strongly warn others: if a device requires the cloud to function, you do not own it — you are merely renting it until the company changes its mind.

I am currently evaluating consumer protection options and seeking restitution for this unacceptable downgrade.

I purchased two Neato Robotics vacuums in May 2019, only to see the company file for bankruptcy and its parent company, Vorwerk Group, shut down all Neato operations in May 2023—a mere four years later.

I chose Neato over competitors because of its strong reviews and alleged commitment to its community. Unfortunately, my recent experience shows no trace of those values.

Like many others, I received an email on December 23, just two days before Christmas, notifying me that my robot was blocked and the cloud service was being phased out. The explanation cited “evolving cybersecurity standards,” which felt like a cop-out, followed by a thank-you for being part of the community. I immediately expressed my disappointment and how unprofessional this handling felt. I asked why customers weren’t offered Kobold vacuums (also owned by Vorwerk Group) at a deep discount. The response reiterated the same talking points—acknowledging disappointment but offering no compensation or solutions. They emphasized that manual mode would still function, as if that were sufficient. It’s not.

I did not purchase this robot—at its price point—just to use it manually. I’ve lost the ability to operate remotely or on a schedule, which was the primary selling point. I can no longer set floor plans or place the dock discreetly because it only works in manual mode. I of course will never purchase from this company again and wish to warn others about the risk should they be considering any of their products, especially Thermomix. This is a company that appears stable one day and then abruptly shuts down, leaving customers stranded the next.

Do better, Vorwerk.

The premature remote deactivation of Neato vacuum robots, occurring in under two years despite an advertised five-year service commitment, is an unacceptable practice.
The deactivation happened on the same day when the email was sent.
This renders the device inoperable, effectively transforming it into a non-functional unit for multi-story residences, even when the underlying hardware remains fully operational.

I advise against their practices.

They just kills neato and my vaccum robot. No connection available.
And saying we can push the button, but loose everything else, when you pay lot of money if just not respecting me !
Never Ever I will bought a vorwerk product. And I will say it to all people.

I bought my Neato Robotics D6 in August 2021. This has worked great the entire time. I paid 415$ for this. I've maintained it and kept it in good working condition. It functioned great. Until today when I logged into their application and my robot is missing.

I received an email 6 days ago (which was in my junk mail, fix your DNS Vorwerk) saying they were phasing out cloud services. Which basically makes this thing a lidar scanning wall basher of a vaccum. THANKS NEATO/VORWERK. They promised in 2023 to keep their services up for 5 years. Promise broken. I will be seeking restitution in some form.

Vorwerk took over my vacuum robot's manufacturer and promised to continue maintaining their cloud platform to honor their five-year service promise.
I just received an email informing me that they were going back on their word from 2023 effective immediately. I just lost the smart part of my smart vacuum robot without warning.
