Yeah Na

You probably shouldn't offer fast delivery when you use the worst courier company in NZ. 4 days later still waiting for it to be priority delivered. I definitely don't feel like a priority

Dear Briscoes Management Team,

Dear Briscoes Management Team,
I am writing to formally log a complaint regarding a highly unsatisfactory and deeply frustrating experience at your Albany branch on Monday afternoon, 12 September 2026. I am a loyal customer who has spent a significant amount of money with Briscoes over the last two weeks. I am incredibly upset and angry about the appalling treatment I received. You can search your system to verify my transaction history and see how much I contribute to your store. Frankly, it is pathetic that my patronage goes toward paying the salaries of staff who are this lazy, dismissive, and entirely unwilling to serve people with a smile.
I encountered several major service failures that I expect management to address immediately:
1. Dismissive, Lazy, and Interuptive Checkout Service
My experience with your female checkout operator was completely unacceptable. I tried three times to explain what I wanted, literally having to speak as fast as possible by the third time just to finish my sentence before she cut me off again. She clearly assumed I was asking her to go walk the floor to find something, and her immediate, lazy reaction was to push me onto someone else.
All I was trying to ask her to do was check if the Wairau store had stock of the King-size Galaxy Mattress Topper, as I did not want to waste petrol driving over there only to find out they were out of stock too. Once she finally stopped interrupting and actually listened to what I was saying, she realized her mistake and apologized. However, she then insisted on checking the Albany stock on her system—insisting it showed stock was available—even though I told her multiple times I had already spent hours confirming with the Manchester staff that Albany had absolutely zero. She made me stand there and wait while she called someone, only for that person to confirm exactly what I had already told her: you had none. It was a completely useless, frustrating, and disrespectful interaction.
Staff Description: Female checkout operator working Monday afternoon, 12 September 2026, with distinct peeling skin on her fingers/hands.
2. Rude and Disorganized Handling of my Click & Collect Order
The younger male staff member who initially served me also showed a complete lack of customer service etiquette. He initially told me he would call someone else to bring out my Click & Collect order. Instead of doing so, he proceeded to serve several customers who were behind me in the queue while making me wait. Only after serving them did he turn around and say he was going to get the order himself. This completely defeats the purpose of the convenience of Click & Collect.
3. Digital Receipt Policy Overreach
While at the counter, I noticed staff simply telling customers that receipts would be emailed, rather than offering it as an option. I witnessed an elderly couple express discomfort with this, stating they preferred a hard copy. Customers should always be politely offered a choice, rather than having digital receipts forced upon them.
4. Inaccurate Stock Systems and Poor Store Layout
Your online inventory system stated that the Albany store had 10 units of the Galaxy Mattress Topper available when there were zero. Furthermore, the Albany store layout is messy, disorganized, and incredibly difficult to navigate compared to your Wairau Park store, which is always neat, tidy, and easy to shop in.
Because of this experience, I will never return to the Albany branch. I prefer to drive further to the Wairau store and pay more for petrol just to be treated with basic respect by staff who actually want to engage with customers. I am also prepared to share this experience on social media to highlight the current state of customer service at your Albany store.
I expect a prompt response from management regarding how you intend to address these staff failures and system errors.
Kind regards,
Loretta

We went to the Takanini branch

We went to the Takanini branch. And now we know why it's rated a 1 star.
The worst customer service ever..unfriendly, unapproachable, unhelpful.
The lady at the front desk immediately gave us the awkward eye when we entered.
We went there looking for homeware but left immediately after our rude encounter with the women at the checkout.
I give it half a star.

Title click and collect

Title: Useless Click & Collect service and terrible customer service
I used Briscoes Whanganui’s Click & Collect service specifically to save time and avoid waiting in line, paying the Click & Collect fee for that convenience. However, when I went to collect my order, I was told I had to stand in the main queue like everyone else.
Defeats the entire purpose of paying extra for a Click & Collect service if you still have to wait 10 minutes in the regular line just to pick up a pre-paid parcel.
When I finally reached the counter and voiced my complaint, the staff member serving me was completely unapologetic and plain rude. Very disappointing experience. I won't be using Click & Collect here again

Simple things made difficult again.

When shopping online, most of the time everything goes fine, when I doesn't I'm constantly in awe of how stupid things have become. I purchased 2 dinner sets on special, because I needed 8 of everything. Both were delivered the next day, but one set had a plate broken in transit. Call customer support, they sort the return, and state I'll receive a replacement. Easy right? All taken care of, no....
The returned goods are received, and instead of sending a replacement, I'm refunded for the damaged set. No problem, I'll just go buy another one then. No I won't because the item is no longer on special and is now twice the price.
Accidents happen, and when they do, you can count on 'customer service' and 'store policy' to make rectifying it as much hassle as possible.

Did not provide services that were paid for and any attempt to rectify the issue was unsuccessful due to an online AI not having any status of my order.
I suggest only walking in store to purchase and talk with employees because this company is hiding much of their bad practices behind their AI chat.

Express delivery is a scam, do not pay the extra fee because they will take it, not deliver and not notify you.

Westgate store poor service

Westgate store. Asked for king duvet inner with cover and inner fabric and filler natural materials. Needed to wait while aman named Sam was found who said they didn’t have anything like that and showed me polyester options and said that they had no bamboo inners in stock. I looked around. Found duck and feather with cotton cover… perfect. Can you get more natural than that? Down from $649.00 down to $249.00. So great specials however service delivery not so great!

I ordered something a month ago

I ordered something a month ago. I was told it was delivered by Briscoes, I had to ring the courier company myself who told me it had been delivered to Whangarei, I'm in Auckland. So I told briscoes, they said they would have to check, still waiting. This is really bad service. I will not be shopping at briscoes again.

I placed an online order and almost everything they sent out was wrong. Almost 2 months after purchasing and sending items back I am still regularly having to contact them for my refund, multiple times being told I should have it within 2 days it never comes. Then one email I had been communicating with just stopped working and flicking the emails back saying unable to be sent. Customer Service is terrible and the whole online system is terrible.

I have been into the Whangatei store…

I have been into the Whangatei store several times over the last 6 months looking for items in soft furnishings homeweares. The quality of the items have go ne downhill. The cushions, throws, sheets and towels are not good now. I spoke to the customer care team. About it and I was informed that is what the buyers have decided on now I wll not be making any purchases and will be shopping elsewhere now Briscoes us selling poor quality and un-inspiring g goods now.

I also do not order online any longer. Briscoes uses Aramex Couriers and their service is dreadful. They either leave parcels sitting in their depots longer than necessary or they do not follow instructions and put parcels in wrong mailboxes. They also do not follow leave requests at a particular spit.

Item never received and no follow-up

I ordered items from Briscoes and it never arrived.

The courier left the parcel near an unlocked gate without my permission. I didn’t give Authority to Leave, wasn’t contacted before delivery, and never received the item. The spot it was left was open and anyone could have taken it.

I’ve contacted Briscoes multiple times but haven’t had a proper response or solution. It’s frustrating having to chase this when I did nothing wrong.

Until this is sorted with a refund or replacement, I wouldn’t recommend ordering online from Briscoes.

Absolutely let down by Briscoes big time

I have a 2 piece set of all of the made in Japan, Kon-Iro pieces. There are only two of us, so it makes perfect sense. So when I saw some of the KonIro pieces on sale, I grabbed the remaining items I wanted, which were 2 dinner plates w6cm and 2 small oblong serving dishes, as well as other items. But unfortunately there are people that work for Briscoes who haven’t been trained properly in packing breakable items. For most all care is taken and I understand that there will be breakages. But who in the right frame of mind, would wrap two dinner plates in bubble wrap and place them in a plastic bag and expect them to arrive in one piece. The order came from Queenstown town and came to the Wellington region and the bag was delivered by a very embarrassed courier driver. I heard the bag of broken bits get placed at the door. I did take photos and contacted Briscoes, they did nothing like they promised the would we I contacted them, so a week later I contacted them again and they requested two new plates. But alas I will be eating alone, as only one plate arrived and today the cancelled the other and were issuing a refund. But they screwed up. If it was packed properly the first time or if they had followed up when I phoned them the first time, I might have had. My plates. The service was absolute crap. No phone call, just an email. I do have the photos as I was opening the broken plates at delivery. It’s not about the money, it about the lack of care and follow through that I’m upset about.
