After being told that the mounts would fit my roof rack, they did not. Fortunately, I was able to “make the fit possible” with much measuring, matching and measuring again. Also, it’s a 2 person job to get the awning bolted onto the mounts, not as the video demonstrates. Another problem is the “both way locking nuts. This makes it much harder to align the awning into the position I wanted. I had to “break” some of the bolts and install my own.

Very happy with this bed cover. I love the low profile look of it. I was able to install it by my self but definitely would be easier with two people.
Cap arrived with a shattered glass panel. I sent pics to show which side. I personally said which side in a separate email and it was verified. I received the wrong replacement side still. Over a month now and I’ve yet to enjoy my investment I spent over 3k on with no word on status of a replacement panel

Trying to get this resolved since May 31. Still no resolution. The “Lulu” bot is a joke. I get one email every 24 hours, usually at 2–3 a.m. my time. Even if I reply immediately, the next reply doesn’t show up until the following day.
Edit
I hope this reply is a joke. I’ve been dealing with a 270 awning issue since May.
Second edit
Again: this is a 270 awning with a broken weld on a TRUSS…not a support arm. Your email already stated I am supposed to receive a replacement awning. That has not happened.
You appear more interested in managing how this looks from the outside than in dealing with the fact that you leave customers behind after their purchase(s).

I am very satisfied with my 180 awning and also the shower on with swing out arm.
Great quality! Product was built to last. Works great with my 180 Awning. One concern, is that your inventory control stinks with stated delivery times completely wrong.

Order 270 awning from openroad. I would say yes getting a hold of them is rough but at the end of the day their products are 100% reliable. Yes they need to provide better hardware. But mostly this company has some amazing 100% customer service! It may take some time for them to respond but when they respond. They go above and beyond with their customer service. They value their customers and they will go above and beyond to get your stuff right! Thank You! I will continue to order my camping gears from Openroad
I made a purchase from openroad in February 2026, after a few communications via messenger I finally received the rack system in the middle of March. I live in Wisconsin so I waited for the snow to clear before attempting to install the rack. When I finally opened the box, it lacked the clamps necessary to connect to my truck box. I message openroad several times attempting to resolve this issue. The rack itself is well built and wish I could use it but after 6 weeks of failed customer service by openroad, the rack is still in the box and I still have yet to receive the needed clamps for the rack to truck.
I would rate the rack a 5 star and the customer service a minus 10. They have since ghosted me with no reply...would I buy from them again. No, would I recommend anything they offer...no. and from the other reviews people have posted, the experience is about the same. Proceed with caution.

Bought a Sliding Glass Side Series truck cap, delivered with 1 side panel damaged; the glass is completely broken. Requested a replacement immediately, and they replied pretty quickly, telling me they would ship it out in a week. Now it is Friday, and I requested it last Friday. I sent a couple of follow-up emails during the week, and they haven’t replied to my email to confirm if they can ship out the replacement on time. My family had a road trip booked next week and was really looking forward to this bed cap so our dogs can have a bigger space during the trip. If they can’t ship as expected, they should at least let the customer know what's going on with an estimated ETA.------------- Now they replied Sat am, telling me "Unfortunately, the replacement has not shipped yet, and they will check again." What kind of response is that? So when are you gonna ship that? ………………………
I have received replacement panel, BUT I said right one is damaged, they sent me a left one, I don’t think they treated their job seriously

I have been a consumer for Open Road early on, I had done a lot of research on roof top tents and due to my height needed a a platform that would work for me, I chose the Openroad roof top tent and have had it for a number of years and had no issues, ( i only wish it was a little higher to allow for storage of pillows ect. in it.) I have since ordered the 270 awning which I found amazing and structurally well built for a free standing awning and have also purchased the shower awning as well, A couple of my friends have seen my set up and actually sold their system and bought the Open road system instead and we agree, It is worth the price. and my experience with customer service has always been a positive experience.

My recent experience with OpenRoad4wd was excellent! 5 stars all the way. "Lulu" answered all of my many questions. I ordered the 270° awning and it arrived in 2 1/2 days. Product was well packaged, instructions read clearly and all the well made accessories are included. I will be installing it soon and I am confident it will provide years of great service!
Great product/great customer service.

Loved the shower awning as it came in clutch for me and my fiancé camping at Matagorda beach.

I ordered a 270-degree awning from Europa- Romania.
A week after making the payment—and only after repeatedly pressing them—I received a tracking number. I was surprised to find the package was shipping from China. Open Road products are made in China. I should mention that I never received an invoice—something I only discovered after paying via the provided link—so there is zero warranty coverage. The awning arrived after three weeks, not the eight days promised prior to payment, and it was incomplete, missing several mounting accessories. I am currently waiting for the remaining parts. I cannot comment on the quality yet; I will provide an update after using it a few times. For now, I can say the arms are made of aluminum and don't seem very sturdy—I hope they hold up. My general impression is that they will say or do anything to get you to buy from them, as they are merely intermediaries for a Chinese manufacturer.
They have no control over product quality or compliance!

Absolutely love the quality of all the openroad gear I have. Im currently running a 270 awning, shower awning, large and small storage cases, water heater, 5 gal water tank, recovery gear, peak series rtt, and even a hitch extender and drop hitch. All products have been great. I have had a positive experience with the customer service too. I can usually message them on Instagram and get a response with in 24hrs during the week. If its a weekend I usually hear back by the next Monday. I hope they keep up the great work and keep making quality accessories!!!!

Openroad has been super responsive and has gotten back to me in a timely manner no matter how big the problem or how big the question! I’m running their camper shell and it has been great! Can’t wait to test more of their products! 😉 their camper shell speaks for itself on the Colorado.

I’ve been ordering from OPENROAD4WD since 2019, and they’ve consistently impressed me with both the quality of their products and their customer service.
Their products are built to last, and whenever I’ve had an issue, their team has been quick to help. In many cases, they’ve resolved the problem within 24 hours and sent out replacement items without making the process difficult or asking unnecessary questions.
I also know many friends who use OPENROAD products, and they’ve had the same experiencegreat quality, reliable gear, and excellent customer service.
Thank you, OPENROAD4WD, for continuing to provide quality products and taking care of your customers. Highly recommended!

I ordered, received, and installed the t-slot truck rack. My main purpose for it is to have solid racks that attach to my existing t-slot bed cover to canoes and kayaks.
The price and overall quality of materials seems reasonable. However, some of their claims are not exactly correct.
First, it claims to be a universal fit, but I had to modify each mount in order for it to work on my t-slot bed cover (different brand). The only thing "universal" is the t-slot hardware. I had to grind down and repaint each bracket in order for it to fit my system.
Secondly, the expansion measurements are not clear regarding what is being measured from and to. I "interpreted" the expansion measurements to be the length of the expansion bar since that how it seems to be pictured, but it really applies to the "overall" length of the racks as measured from outside to outside. That leaves me about 7 inches short of the length I need to be able to used the side bars. At this point, they are not of any use to me.
Third, customer service was handled completely via email. They did correspond, but it was not very timely--several days to a week on multiple occasions. Additionally, some of the initial information was unclear regarding where the measurements are taken from until I finally gave my input on where they seem to come from and they agreed. I did share that I thought their diagrams could use some correcting to ensure that the location of the measurements was clear. I also shared that given this "new" information that the rack side bars are useless to me. They did thank me for my input and sent me on my way at that point.
The bottom line here is that knowing what I know now, I would NOT purchase these again. I think there are some better options out there, but I will live with these for now to see how it works out. The 3 points I made above represent the 3 lost stars leaving them with and overall rating of 2 stars.
Wish I had seen these reviews before ordering anything from OpenRoad4WD. There customer service is non existent A-I chatbot. I ordered and did receive my RTT and noticed that a side latch was missing and allowing water to penetrate the RTT. I have tried multiple times over several months to get this resolved and get a replacement for the missing latch that should have come with the RTT that I paid for. Like many others with negative reviews of this companies customer service, I have been promised on several occasions that my missing part will be sent out immediately and I will receive a tracking number. I have communicated via email with the sales department several times and they are no better at getting this resolved then this so called customer service agent Lulu. At this point I do not think this is going to get resolved and I am stuck with a leaking RTT that I wasted my money on. Update, I’ve been told once again(I’ve lost count by now) that my part will be shipped the next day and I will receive an email with tracking information. Once again nothing. I have checked my emails, spam, junk, all and primary and nothing. I would like to know where this email that I’m supposed to be getting is at. At least take a snapshot of the email

UPDATE to my review 4 days ago titled: Damaged and Defective Open Road 4wd Aluminum Truck Topper
After contacting the company via email last Sunday evening Open Road did respond to me through Trustpilot and personal email. They stated to me that they would send out a replacement part to replace the the door frame that was clearly damaged and defective with a broken aluminum weld that they clearly wrapped up and placed into the shipping box while suggesting the part was damaged in shipping (although there was absolutely no damage to the shipping box). In retrospect, this practice reminds me of a DAMAGE DUMPING TACTIC that unscrupulous companies use to save money. They assured me they would be sending out the replacement part on Wednesday 7/22 with a tracking number. On Tuesday 7/21 (the day before) I received another email letting me know they don't stock the part as a stand alone product and they would need to ship in to their warehouse a complete truck cap unit and take the front window frame out of the box and send it to me but they wouldn't be able to send it out until Friday 7/24 (today). So around mid day I emailed Open Road that I haven't received any communication regarding the product being shipped nor any tracking number associated with it. It's now 9pm mountain time here in Idaho and I still have not receive any email from the company regarding shipping or tracking number. In my emails back to them I have been reasonable and understanding. Either the people handling the coordination of this are incompetent or they just don't really care enough to follow through like a reputable company should. If there's a competent-capable leader within the team at Open Road I ask that you stand up and make yourself known and take charge of this situation and own the follow through of your company's mistake. Please do it with integrity, due dillagence and in a timely manner. Please don't send another response to me here just to manipulate me or the reader of this review to make it seem like you have good business practices. Just get the job done! I will be contacting The Better Business Bureau and Affirm on Monday to file a complaint. Thank you for your attention to this matter.
