Convenient Concept, but Too Many Issues to Ignore

My experience with June Homes has been mixed, and unfortunately, based on my experience, I would be hesitant to extend my stay or book with them again. While the concept is convenient, there have been several issues throughout my stay that have made the experience more stressful than it should be.

1. Parking and access issues

One of the most frustrating situations involved parking. I was not provided with a gate code or a clicker to access the parking area. As a result, I had to ask a neighbor for assistance just to be able to access the parking area. What made this particularly frustrating was that I had previously been advised by June Homes not to assist a neighbor when they had asked me for a favor. It felt very hypocritical to be told not to help other residents while I was put in a position where I had to rely on a neighbor for basic access that should have been provided to me by management in the first place.

I understand that mistakes happen, but access to the property is a basic part of providing housing, and I should not have had to depend on another resident to resolve an issue that was created by the company.

2. Roommate issues and feeling singled out

Another major concern has been how roommate-related issues have been handled. I have repeatedly felt singled out regarding complaints involving a roommate, despite the fact that this roommate has never actually spoken to me directly about any concerns.

What is especially frustrating is that I have been made to feel as though I am responsible for certain issues without being presented with clear evidence or specific information supporting those claims. I am completely willing to address legitimate concerns and follow reasonable house rules, but I don't think it is fair to repeatedly single someone out without providing them with the opportunity to understand exactly what they are being accused of or what evidence supports the complaint.

Communication and transparency are extremely important when multiple people are sharing a home. Instead, these situations have left me feeling uncomfortable and unfairly targeted.

3. Maintenance and property issues

There have also been recurring maintenance concerns during my stay. At times, there has been no hot water, which is obviously a significant inconvenience when you are paying to live in a property. There have also been instances of the roof leaking, which raises concerns about the overall maintenance and condition of the property.

I understand that maintenance issues can happen in any building, but when you combine these problems with the parking/access issues and roommate-related concerns, it starts to feel like there are too many recurring issues to overlook.

Overall, my experience with June Homes has not been terrible in every respect, but there have been enough problems that I would personally be hesitant to extend my stay. If you are considering booking with June Homes, I would recommend being very careful and making sure you fully understand the property's policies, parking arrangements, guest/roommate policies, and what support is actually available when problems arise.

For me, the biggest issue is not that mistakes happen, it is how those issues are handled. I would have much more confidence in the company if communication were more consistent, residents were treated more fairly, and basic property issues were addressed more reliably.

Premium prices for unlivable housing and obstructive support

I moved into my first June Homes unit in late August and, after weeks of complaints, had to relocate to a second unit about a month later. I paid nearly $6,000 upfront—roughly $2,500 in rent, another $2,500 as a security deposit, plus membership, utility-management and transaction fees, for an apartment that was nowhere near move-in ready.

The bathroom had drain flies, and instead of arranging professional pest control, June Homes instructed me to perform weekly DIY treatments. The shower pressure was so unusable that I had to go to my gym to wash properly, yet I was told it was “normal.” The smoke detectors were nonfunctional on arrival and later had to be fully replaced, including detectors in the kitchen and bedroom. The refrigerator had a broken door and unstable temperatures that affected temperature-sensitive medication; I was initially told to attempt DIY repairs and only received proper help after repeated back-and-forth. Marijuana odors repeatedly filled the apartment despite the no-smoking policy. Roommate move-ins were also handled with almost no meaningful notice or coordination, one notification arrived the day someone moved in.

The support was consistently slow, fragmented and unhelpful. The portal failed to upload evidence, forms frequently did not work, and I could not access the required move-out report after leaving. Everything required repeated emails, tickets and explanations to different agents.

The relocation process was just as bad. June Homes initially treated it like a normal elective transfer, with notice requirements and relocation fees, despite the relocation being necessary because the first unit was not fit for purpose. They later described waiving the notice period as an “exception,” when it was the minimum appropriate response to the documented safety and habitability failures.

They attempted to set a relocation date and rushed me to sign agreements before I had agreed to the move or viewed the replacement unit. Because I no longer trusted their listings or assurances, I had to pay approximately $65 plus a transaction fee simply to inspect the replacement apartment. They initially sent me photographs of the wrong unit. During the eventual viewing, my assigned room appeared to contain another person’s belongings and may still have been occupied.

I then spent weeks chasing basic information about the rent difference, security-deposit transfer, utilities, upfront rent, cleaning requirements, keys, move-in timing and whether the assigned room would actually be vacant, cleaned and inspected. They required the next month’s rent upfront before activating the new portal, while automated payment reminders continued. When I finally moved into the second unit, the lockbox was so difficult to open that support advised me to force it and use another key for leverage.

The relocation agreement also appeared to restrict me from leaving a review. Whether enforceable or not, asking someone to accept terms that while relocating them from an unlivable apartment is appalling.

Even the person conducting my viewing openly acknowledged how bad the company was. She told me she had seen my original apartment, disliked it herself, and agreed that it was a terrible unit. When the person representing the company during a paid viewing is independently validating how poor the previous accommodation was, that says everything.

June Homes charges premium prices while delivering poor-quality housing, terrible support and endless administrative friction. The first apartment was fundamentally unlivable as delivered, and resolving problems that should never have existed consumed an unreasonable amount of my time, affected my sleep and interfered with my work. I would not recommend June Homes.

I believe this company is a total scam

I believe this company is a total scam. I paid for the verification, got verified, and signed a lease agreement, but I never received a payment link, even though they said I would during the online application process.

I tried calling them multiple times, but had no luck. Nobody ever picked up the phone—it always went to voicemail.

Just avoid this company. Don’t waste your time, and be sure to read the low-rated reviews first—they tell you everything you need to know.

Hi Sergey,

Thank you for the honest feedback, and I'm sorry this happened.

We looked into your case, and you're right that something broke down on our end. The payment link that should have gone out after your verification never reached you, and the mistake sat unaddressed for longer than it should have.

That's on us, not you. We've already started a refund of your verification fee, and someone from our team is reaching out directly to make sure that's completed and to see if there's anything else we can do. If you don't hear from us soon, please email wecare@junehomes.com and we'll follow up right away.

We know this isn't what you should have experienced, and we appreciate you giving us the chance to make it right.

Hi Nehir,

Thank you for sharing your feedback.

We're sorry to hear that your room did not meet expectations when you arrived. After reviewing the records, we can confirm that you reported multiple move-in concerns shortly after arrival, including cleanliness issues, damage to several items in the room, and other pre-existing conditions. We appreciate you taking the time to document these items and report them promptly.

Our team reviewed the information you provided, created a move-in record of the reported conditions, and escalated repair-related concerns, including the closet door issue, for further review.

We understand how frustrating it can be to move into a space and immediately encounter issues that require attention, especially during the first days of your stay. While pre-existing damage was documented so you would not be held responsible for it, we recognize that this does not change the experience you had upon arrival.

We appreciate your feedback and will use it to continue improving move-in readiness, cleaning standards, and quality checks before residents move in.

Sincerely,

We're sorry to read this.
A leak disrupting your sleep and damaging your belongings sounds genuinely stressful, and we don't take that lightly.

That said, we've searched our system and haven't been able to locate any tickets or communications tied to this account. Maintenance issues need to be reported through our app or by contacting our support team directly so we can assign a property manager, track the work, and make sure it gets resolved properly. Without a ticket, our team has no way to dispatch help or follow up.

If you are a current or former June Homes resident, we genuinely want to look into this. Please reach out to us at wecare@junehomes.com or call +1 (888) 604-6697 and our team will prioritize your case.

June Homes fails to provide the service…

June Homes fails to provide the service it promotes.

I lived in June Homes housing for approximately 2½ years and successfully shared apartments with multiple roommates. My criticism is not that roommate conflicts can occur. They can occur anywhere.

My criticism is what happened when safety, wellbeing, habitability, and reasonable enjoyment of the property were compromised and a shared-living arrangement became untenable.

June Homes markets, facilitates, and profits from shared housing. Shared housing is not a side feature of its business. It is the product it sells. The company's advertising, onboarding process, roommate placement procedures, Resolution Team, tenant portal, and communications are all built around that concept.

Despite acknowledging that a serious problem existed, June Homes consistently devoted its efforts toward explaining why it would not be responsible for resolving the situation rather than providing a meaningful resolution that would restore the safety, habitability, wellbeing, and reasonable enjoyment of the home that every tenant is entitled to expect.

What ultimately shocked me was not the conduct of a difficult roommate. It was the realization that when a shared-living arrangement becomes unlivable, June Homes appears unwilling to accept responsibility for the outcome of the very service it markets and sells.

The issue was never whether June Homes knew there was a problem. They knew and acknowledged there was a problem. The issue was what happened after they knew.

If you are considering June Homes for yourself, do so at your own peril.

If you are a parent helping a son or daughter secure housing in New York City, I would strongly urge you to look elsewhere.

The true measure of a shared-housing company is not how it performs when everything goes right. The true measure is what happens when things go wrong.

In my experience, June Homes failed that test completely.

Hi Steven,

Thank you for sharing your feedback.

We understand that your concern is not that issues occurred, but that you felt the actions taken afterward did not provide a meaningful resolution.

Throughout your tenancy, a number of concerns were raised regarding your living environment, and our teams worked with you, building management, and other parties to review those concerns, coordinate repairs, discuss abatements, and follow up on outstanding issues. While we recognize that these efforts did not result in the outcome you were seeking, we respectfully disagree with the suggestion that the concerns were ignored or that no action was taken after they were reported.

We understand why the experience left you frustrated, and we appreciate you taking the time to share your perspective. Feedback like yours helps us continue improving how we support residents when complex issues arise.

June homes should be ashamed

June homes should be ashamed. They will rip you off, whatever price you believe the rental will cost, add about 20%. I did a one month rental and regretted every day of it. If you're considering renting from them, please do not. You will regret it too. I feel like I've been taken advantage of and was treated poorly.

Don't make the same mistake as me, avoid this company.

Hi Dave,

We’re sorry to hear your experience did not meet expectations.

After reviewing the communication history, we can confirm that our teams remained actively engaged regarding your billing questions, move-in concerns, and maintenance requests throughout your stay. Several of the issues reported, including the dishwasher and disposal concerns, were investigated and addressed through scheduled maintenance visits and follow-up communication.

We also recognize that there was confusion surrounding the prorated extension charges and lease dates, and we understand how frustrating that experience felt from your perspective.

Providing a smooth move-in experience is important to us, and we appreciate the feedback you shared. We will continue reviewing these situations internally to improve clarity and coordination across teams.

If there are any unresolved concerns you would still like reviewed, please reach out to us directly at wecare@junehomes.com.

Be READY for DISASTERS (unlivable environment, roommate harassmetn)

Absolutely TERRRRIBLE experience with June Homes.

I had to leave the apartment and stay at hotels multiple times because of unsafe, unhealthy living conditions, getting harassed by a roommate, and constant construction done while I was still living there

Be ready to spend THOUSANDS on hotels because the apartment is UN-livable.

The most frustrating part was how little June Homes seemed to care. They dont respond to email or support tickets

Instead of getting help, be ready for false accusations and financial threats

Hi Marie,

Thank you for bringing this to our attention. We’re sorry to hear that your experience with June Homes left you feeling frustrated and unsupported.

After reviewing the communication history, we can confirm there were ongoing concerns raised regarding building conditions, maintenance coordination, roommate-related discomfort, billing disputes, and communication challenges throughout the tenancy. Our records also show that multiple teams remained engaged with the case over an extended period, including Support, Maintenance, Accounting, and Property Management, with continued responses, escalations, follow-ups, and accommodations provided where applicable.

We also acknowledge that several of the interactions became highly escalated on both sides, particularly around billing disputes, building violations, relocation requests, and maintenance responsibility discussions.

While we may not agree with all characterizations made in the review, we understand that the overall experience did not meet your expectations, and we recognize the importance of clear communication, consistency, and timely coordination in shared housing environments.

Your feedback has been documented internally and shared with the relevant teams for further review.
