Poor Product Experience, Worse Renewal Experience
would not recommend ClevGuard.
Neither of the two ClevGuard products I purchased worked properly on my daughter’s laptop. I even had one of my IT staff members help me try to get the software working, without success, so I had no intention of renewing.
I was charged $129.99 for an automatic renewal and contacted ClevGuard within several hours to request a full refund.
They claim they sent a renewal reminder beforehand, but I never received it and checked both my inbox and spam folder.
Instead of reversing the charge, they first offered a 30% refund, then increased it to 50% after I pushed back. They still refused a full refund and ultimately told me:
“If you want a full refund, please contact your bank. And we will not reply to your email anymore.”
I do not think turning a refund request made within hours of the renewal into a 30%-then-50% negotiation was reasonable.
Based on my experience with the products, automatic renewal practices, and customer service, I would not recommend ClevGuard.
