UPDATE

UPDATE — 9 JULY 2026 — DAY 22

Airwallex has now held €21,141.60 of Sportex Intelligence Ltd’s funds frozen for 22 consecutive days with no lawful justification.

Their own internal deadline of 8 July 2026 has passed with zero resolution, zero communication, and zero release of funds.

Here is what Airwallex has done:
— Suspended our account without explanation on 17 June 2026
— Reversed our very first incoming transaction of just €99
— Promised a response by 8 July — and delivered nothing

We have now instructed legal counsel. A Letter Before Action is being prepared citing breach of contract, tort of conversion, and FCA BCOBS violations. A criminal complaint for misappropriation of funds is also being pursued.

Airwallex is a fast-growing fintech with an $11 billion valuation. They clearly have no interest in protecting the legitimate businesses that trust them with their funds.

Avoid Airwallex. When things go wrong, your money simply disappears.

Hi Cesare, thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We’re sorry for the frustration and concern this situation has caused.

We understand the seriousness of the concerns you’ve raised regarding access to funds and the length of time this matter has been ongoing. As a regulated financial services provider, we are required to carry out certain checks and reviews in line with our legal and regulatory obligations, but we appreciate how difficult this can be when updates do not feel clear or timely.

We can see this matter has already been raised with our team, and any further updates will be shared directly through the appropriate support channel.

Our business account (Sportex…

Our business account (Sportex Intelligence Ltd) was suspended on 17 June 2026 without prior notice or explanation, with over €21,000 in funds frozen. We immediately provided all documentation requested by Airwallex’s compliance team. Despite full cooperation, our funds remain blocked with no timeline, no explanation, and no meaningful communication — only generic responses saying “the team is working on it.”

As a UK-regulated business, we expect fair treatment under FCA rules. Instead we have been forced to open emergency alternative banking arrangements while our operational capital remains held hostage.

We have now formally referred this matter to the Financial Ombudsman Service (reference PNX-6057907-X4W7) and notified the FCA.

Airwallex may be a fast-growing fintech, but their compliance systems are automated, opaque, and causing serious harm to legitimate businesses. Use them at your own risk — when things go wrong, you are completely on your own.

Update 26 June 2026: Airwallex has replied publicly asking me to get in touch. I have already done so — complaint reference C243/26 is open with their team, and this matter has been formally referred to the Financial Ombudsman Service (reference PNX-6057907-X4W7). I expect a substantive resolution by 3 July 2026.
