DO NOT TRUST THINKIFIC
DO NOT TRUST THINKIFIC. Take note of all the negative reviews and be warned. Thinkific Payments Revoked After Launch — Never Disclosed KYC Requirement
I spent months building a fully completed online course on Thinkific — nearly 100 professional video lessons, integrated assessments, and a full launch on April 1, 2026. I made every decision based on Thinkific's own training materials, including their Fast Track Academy program, which told me I could launch quickly, start selling immediately, and that I did not need an LLC or EIN to get started.
Three days after launch, I received an email from Sage (the company behind Thinkific Payments) telling me my payment access was permanently revoked due to "elevated risk." No appeal. No explanation. No resolution pathway.
Here is what Thinkific never told me — not in their marketing, not in their Fast Track training, not in their onboarding, not in their launch checklist:
Thinkific Payments requires mandatory KYC (Know Your Customer) verification through a third-party financial company called Sage
Approval is not guaranteed
You can be rejected after your course is fully built and launched
If rejected, you cannot accept any payments through Thinkific's default system
This information appears in exactly three buried support articles. It is in zero marketing pages, zero blog posts, and zero training modules. Meanwhile their homepage says "start selling today" and their Academy tells you payment setup takes minutes.
I have documented over 100 URLs across Thinkific's own website, YouTube channel, Academy programs, and third-party tutorials — none disclose the KYC requirement. I am filing formal complaints with the FTC, the state Attorney General, and the CFPB.
If you are considering Thinkific, do not invest time or money due to these deceptive practices. The platform will happily take your subscription fees while you build — and pull the rug out at launch.
Star Rating: 1 star but should be zero.
