Thumbtack absolutely sucks

Thumbtack absolutely sucks. I wouldn't recommend them to anybody. Their so called pros do show up for jobs. I agreed to pay one $100 just to go my airbnb and realign the shower door - no actual work - just realign the door. Not only did he not show up, he didn't even let me know that he wasn't going to show up. So I had guest arriving to a stuck door that I could have had someone else to fix or I could have drove the 2 hours to fix it - had I known ahead of time. It makes me sick that companies operate like that. Thumbtack has NO access point to allow me to submit a compliant or even contact them about the problem. Their pretend customer service page goes to a 404 This Page is No Longer Available error. They just make money off folks with ZERO responsibility.

DO NOT TRUST THINKIFIC

DO NOT TRUST THINKIFIC. Take note of all the negative reviews and be warned. Thinkific Payments Revoked After Launch — Never Disclosed KYC Requirement

I spent months building a fully completed online course on Thinkific — nearly 100 professional video lessons, integrated assessments, and a full launch on April 1, 2026. I made every decision based on Thinkific's own training materials, including their Fast Track Academy program, which told me I could launch quickly, start selling immediately, and that I did not need an LLC or EIN to get started.
Three days after launch, I received an email from Sage (the company behind Thinkific Payments) telling me my payment access was permanently revoked due to "elevated risk." No appeal. No explanation. No resolution pathway.
Here is what Thinkific never told me — not in their marketing, not in their Fast Track training, not in their onboarding, not in their launch checklist:

Thinkific Payments requires mandatory KYC (Know Your Customer) verification through a third-party financial company called Sage
Approval is not guaranteed
You can be rejected after your course is fully built and launched
If rejected, you cannot accept any payments through Thinkific's default system

This information appears in exactly three buried support articles. It is in zero marketing pages, zero blog posts, and zero training modules. Meanwhile their homepage says "start selling today" and their Academy tells you payment setup takes minutes.
I have documented over 100 URLs across Thinkific's own website, YouTube channel, Academy programs, and third-party tutorials — none disclose the KYC requirement. I am filing formal complaints with the FTC, the state Attorney General, and the CFPB.
If you are considering Thinkific, do not invest time or money due to these deceptive practices. The platform will happily take your subscription fees while you build — and pull the rug out at launch.
Star Rating: 1 star but should be zero.

Review of Lovable

Another trip down the rabbit hole

Another trip down the rabbit hole! Let me save you the trouble: Don't.
Lovable promises "build apps with AI" but delivers "waste hours debugging code that looks right but doesn't work."
Here's what happened:

Paid $40 for Business plan
Spent 5 hours following AI instructions
Built impressive-looking contractor onboarding app
Tested it: "Failed to save information" errors
Asked AI to fix: Claims it's fixed
Still broken
Ask again: "I've implemented UPSERT logic!"
Still broken
Ask again: "Added UUID uniqueness constraints!"
Still. Broken.
Deploy to production: Maybe production will work?
NOPE. STILL BROKEN.

The AI is like a confident intern who says "I fixed it!" without actually testing anything. It generates explanations that SOUND technical but don't solve the actual problem.
Real talk:
Before Lovable, I tried Base44. Six hours wasted. Broken deployment. Switched to Lovable hoping for better. SAME RESULT.
The entire AI code generation space is overselling and underdelivering. These tools are fine for toy projects and demos. For actual businesses? They're expensive time-wasters.
Don't listen to influencers (youtube) - they are paid to promote these products.
I believed the AI hype.
Paid for two different platforms.
Wasted 11+ hours total.
Still have nothing working.
Now hiring a developer anyway.
Lesson learned: When something seems too good to be true (build production apps with no coding!), it probably is.
Am I getting a refund? You bet. And I'm sharing this review so others don't make my mistake.
Score: 1/5 - Would be 0/5 but the UI did look nice before I tried to use it.

Review of Base44

Rated 1 out of 5 stars

Base44 absolutely sucks

Base44 absolutely sucks. They should be held accountable for selling a product that does not work and offering absolutely zero support . I wasted weeks trying to develop a viable app, only to get NOWHERE.
DO NOT USE BASE44

I spent over several days trying to fix a simple bug in my contractor management app. Base44's AI assistant made at least 6 different "fixes" to my code, each time claiming the changes were deployed. NONE of them actually reached production.

WHAT HAPPENED:
- Job initialization failing with 400 Bad Request errors
- Base44 AI made multiple code changes
- AI confirmed "changes applied" and "published" each time
- Tested after every "fix" following exact instructions
- Same errors persisted - ZERO changes actually deployed
- Even added debug logging with emoji markers - never appeared
- Manually pasted code myself - didn't deploy
- Had AI paste code - didn't deploy
- Their deployment pipeline is completely broken

EVIDENCE I PROVIDED:
✅ Console screenshots showing exact errors
✅ Database verification (20 records exist but UI shows 0)
✅ Followed every troubleshooting step perfectly
✅ Cleared cache, closed browser, waited, retested - multiple times
✅ Tested in different ways per their instructions
✅ Even accessed their code editor and tried manual fixes

WHAT BASE44 DID:
❌ Made 6+ code changes that never deployed
❌ Kept claiming "this fix will work" - it never did
❌ Blamed browser cache (not the issue)
❌ Blamed my testing methodology (I followed exactly)
❌ Never escalated to human engineer despite requests
❌ Wasted many many hours with AI troubleshooting loops
❌ No accountability for broken deployment system

THE REAL PROBLEM:
Their deployment pipeline doesn't actually push code changes to production. The AI can edit code all day, but it never reaches the live app. This is a FUNDAMENTAL platform failure.

BUSINESS IMPACT:
- Cannot test contractor workflows (completely blocked)
- Lost weeks of development time
- Project timeline destroyed
- Zero confidence in platform reliability
- Even if fixed now, will this happen with future updates?

CUSTOMER SERVICE:
- Only AI assistant available (no human support)
- AI kept trying same failed approaches
- No escalation path to engineering team
- No acknowledgment of deployment pipeline failure
- Had to explicitly demand human engineer involvement.
But got no response. Base44 is a complete failure!

My New Favorite.
So glad I discovered these guys! Wish I had done so earlier. Their process is easy and reasonable without the pushy overselling like other providers. I will return to Porkbun for any new domain needs. Hope they don't change.

Fix my previous review -Not rip-off

I want to fix my previous review of vegas.com ticket price for Illuminarium in las vegas. Turns out their pricing was appropriate. There are legit $40 tickets that are sold on the illuminarium website as well as $24 tickets. We should have purchased the 24 ticket. So I revise my rating to vegas.com to indicate the my disappointment with the show was not their fault.

Do not trust vegas.com is a ripoff

Do not trust vegas.com for anything they sell. They charge twice as much as the real price. You can get the ticket on site for much less. Bought illumininarium for 40. Price on site is 22. Freaking rip-off. We only stayed for half. Night show is pretty boring.
Regardless vegas.com is rip off. Never ever trust them
