Level of software support is just unacceptable!
I am extremely disappointed with Fanatec and the way its customers are being treated when it comes to software reliability and technical support.
Fanatec sells premium sim-racing equipment at premium prices. Customers invest significant amounts of money in their wheelbases, steering wheels, pedals, and accessories because they expect quality, reliability, and ongoing support.
What we should not expect is for Fanatec's own software to create problems with equipment that was previously working perfectly fine.
My Fanatec equipment was working before I encountered issues with the newer Fanatec software. Now, when I launch the application, I am greeted with an error message, followed by an automated recovery process that launches Windows PowerShell and seemingly accomplishes absolutely nothing.
The application gets stuck attempting to fix a problem, leaving me with an error screen and no meaningful explanation or solution.
And apparently, I am far from the only customer who has experienced this.
Public reports of this PowerShell recovery problem date back to at least June 2026. Fanatec subsequently released software updates addressing related repair problems, with another fix specifically targeting the endless PowerShell recovery loop announced in October 2026.
That represents approximately four months between a documented customer report and the release that supposedly fixes this particular issue.
Four months!!!
For a company selling expensive, specialised sim-racing hardware, how is that remotely acceptable?
This is not some obscure third-party compatibility issue. We are talking about Fanatec's own application, designed specifically to manage Fanatec's own hardware.
Customers should not have to troubleshoot PowerShell scripts, investigate failed recovery processes, or spend hours researching software problems just to use equipment they have already paid a substantial amount of money for.
What makes this especially frustrating is the lack of confidence it creates. Every software update should improve the experience, not introduce another potential problem that prevents customers from using their equipment normally.
When customers pay premium prices, they have every right to expect premium support and reliable software.
Corsair's ownership of Fanatec should come with greater accountability, better quality assurance, and a more dependable customer experience.
I would genuinely like Fanatec and Corsair to answer the following:
1. Why did a problem involving the application's PowerShell recovery process persist for months after being publicly reported?
How did this issue get through software testing in the first place?
2. Why are customers expected to troubleshoot problems introduced by the software intended to support their equipment?
3. What measures are being implemented to prevent future updates from disrupting previously working hardware?
4. How does Fanatec intend to rebuild customer confidence in its software reliability and technical support?
I invested in Fanatec equipment because I expected a high-quality sim-racing experience. That makes this situation even more disappointing. Excellent hardware means very little when the software required to manage it becomes a source of constant frustration.
Fanatec and Corsair need to take these problems seriously, communicate more transparently, and demonstrate that customers who have invested heavily in their ecosystem actually matter.
At this price point, customers should not have to fight with the manufacturer's own software just to enjoy sim racing.
This is unacceptable, and Fanatec needs to do better!
