Review of Halfords Retail

Rated 1 out of 5 stars

Added 700 miles to my MOT cert. Tried to get me to pay for unnecessary work.

Halfords put the wrong miles on my MOT certificate.

Their customer support chat insist my home address is incorrect so can't verify me when i contact them so then they won't sort out the problems i'm having.

Also on another occasion a few months back they insisted that I needed to replace the entire clutch system for over £1200, didn't listen to my explanations that it was only the master cylinder that needed replacing for £250, insisted it was the whole clutch. Another garage confirmed it was just the master cylinder and did the work. Halfords seemed to want to scam me into paying for extra unnecessary work at great cost. Someone else less knowledgably would have just agreed to the work. Always ask for second opinions if you have to deal with them.

Order never arrived, support stop responding after a year of excuses

My order from 14 months ago never arrived. Initially support contacted me to say it was delayed and to wait. Then as soon as you're passed the refund and claims time window they ghost you. Do not order from this scam company. A few years back my first order from them did arrive, so you can get lucky, but absolutely not worth it unless you are prepared to bring them to court over the false sale (watch this space).

Review of Ikea

Rated 1 out of 5 stars

Awful customer service, multiple failed deliveries.

Bought a wardrobe and a set of drawers and paid £40 for delivery. 1st delivery attempt the wardrobe was broken and 3/4 of the drawers came. After two lengthy phone calls the wardrobe was replaced successfully but the 4th drawers box never came on the second attempt. After a third phone call to them they informed me there was an 'internal error' and that I would need to wait a further 48 hours before phoning them back to get the 4th drawers box delivered. I complained during that call and the person was unsympathetic and unhelpful, refusing compensation, refusing to call me back when it was sorted, and insisting I needed to phone them back in a few days. I kept on the phone complaining and requesting for my £40 delivery fee to be refunded, and eventually they offered me a £30 gift voucher... I told them it was unacceptable, especially since they were only offering it after I had gone on and on at them. Eventually I got them to admit they had a complaints department, and got them to escalate a complaint. Waiting to hear back from them on this complaint, I will update this review when I do, and if I ever get the rest of the drawers.

Update: After I complained at javier.Quinones they emailed me and arranged the delivery of a whole new set of draws (despite me saying i only needed box 4), and then they would collect the other unwanted boxes a few days later. This delivery never arrived. However the collection van arrived, and obviously I had to turn them away. After phoning them up they apologised again, and have arranged a 4th attempt at delivering the missing box. We will see if this comes... then I got an email from them asking if everything had gone OK with my delivery when it hadn't come, it seems internally they have no idea what is going on and it's up to me to relay information between them. Also still no offer of compensation apart from a £30 gift voucher which they say will arrived in a few weeks. Not that I'm ever going to use IKEA again.

Last update: finally the last box was delivered weeks later. I have been given a £50 IKEA voucher, they refused any kind of cash refund for the failed deliveries. However, even a week after the final delivery I've had two IKEA vans turn up unexpectedly attempting to collect unwanted items. Obviously their delivery operations is a complete mess. You'll get your items eventually, but be prepared for delays, hours on the phone, and unenthusiastic customer support.
