Regarding guide quality, we recognise that two of your touring days did not meet your expectations. We'd like to note, however, that all of our guides are part of the same carefully selected team and are held to the same high standards of professionalism, destination knowledge, and guest care.

Every Tourist Japan guide undergoes a rigorous selection, onboarding, and preparation process before leading our guests. Beyond onboarding, our guides receive ongoing training, regular performance reviews, and continuous support to ensure those standards are consistently upheld. We also use guest feedback as an integral part of this process, helping us continually strengthen and refine the experience we provide. This commitment to rigorous selection, comprehensive onboarding, continuous development, and performance management is central to maintaining the consistently high standard of experience we strive to deliver across every tour.

You're correct that Japan removed the national licensing requirement for foreign-language tour guides in 2018, opening the profession to independent guides. Since then, we have selected our guides based on demonstrated expertise, performance, and guest experience rather than government licensing alone. We believe exceptional guiding is the result of rigorous selection, comprehensive onboarding, ongoing training, continuous performance development, and a culture of support and accountability that enables our guides to consistently deliver the standard of experience our travellers expect.

Tourist Japan’s multi-day experiences are designed as a combination of independent travel and guided touring, allowing travelers to enjoy both the flexibility of exploring between destinations independently and the insight of curated local experiences throughout the journey. Separate meeting points and itinerary instructions are provided throughout the package, though we understand from your feedback that the Tokyo to Osaka transfer process and meeting point information did not come across with the level of clarity you were expecting in advance.

Feedback like this is important as we continue refining how our itineraries and travel expectations are communicated prior to departure.
