Telespazio and e-GEOS, both part of Leonardo Space, had the pleasure of hosting a Philippine Government delegation from the Department of Science and Technology and the Philippine Space Agency at Telespazio’s Fucino Space Centre and at the Headquarters of Telespazio and e-GEOS in Rome. The visit took place as part of the Technical Assistance to the National Copernicus Capacity Support Action Programme for the Philippines (CopPhil TA) under the Global Gateway Strategy, managed by the EU Delegation to the Philippines. At Telespazio’s Fucino Space Centre, the delegation explored our Space capabilities and activities in satellite communications, satellite operations, TV and broadcasting. The visit then continued in Rome, focusing on Earth Observation, with particular attention to e-GEOS’ capabilities in natural disaster response and its role in the Copernicus programme. The day provided a valuable opportunity to showcase our expertise, gain a better understanding of the current and future needs of Philippine stakeholders, and explore opportunities for cooperation, knowledge sharing and capacity building in the space and Earth Observation domains.

Domenico Grandoni, Head of R&D and Innovation at e-GEOS, part of Leonardo Space, took part in the Technology Showcase on Digital Twin solutions hosted by Frontex in Warsaw. He presented e-GEOS’s industrial capabilities in developing robust “what-if” simulation scenarios through Digital Twins, supporting a wide range of applications, from addressing the impacts of climate change and monitoring critical infrastructure to agriculture and security. Leonardo has been awarded by the European Space Agency - ESA a fully funded contract to define the architecture of the future EU Earth Observation Governmental Service (#EOGS), a key capability designed to harness space data in support of Europe’s autonomous decision-making in the fields of security and defence. The contract is one of the two parallel architectural studies funded by the European Commission and signed with #ESA under the Financial Framework Partnership Agreement (FFPA). The project will propose architectural options to support the future implementation of the EOGS. The European Resilience from Space for Earth Observation (ERS-EO) activities are parallel preparatory activities for EOGS, including the preparation of relevant capabilities and their potential federation with national and European dual-use Earth Observation assets. Led by #Leonardo, the study will capitalise the competences, technologies and solutions from Telespazio, Thales Alenia Space, e-GEOS and a qualified network of European partners, and will define a sovereign, resilient and federated end-to-end #EarthObservation architecture, covering the entire value chain: space systems and sensors, ground infrastructure, data processing and services. 🆕 e-GEOS, part of Leonardo Space, and iQPS, Inc. (Institute for Q-shu Pioneers of Space, Inc.) are collaborating to develop new Geospatial Intelligence solutions for institutions, governments and businesses, with applications ranging from emergency management to mining and infrastructure monitoring. 🛰️ At the heart of the collaboration is the integration of data from the QPS-SAR constellation operated by iQPS with data from the COSMO-SkyMed constellation of the Italian Space Agency (Agenzia Spaziale Italiana) and the Italian Ministry of Defence (Ministero della Difesa), for which e-GEOS is the exclusive commercial distributor. 🎤 C. 🚀 On September 15th, 2026, at 03:21 CEST, ESA's FLEX and Copernicus Sentinel-3C satellites successfully launched from Europe's Spaceport in Kourou, French Guiana, aboard the same Vega-C launcher by Avio (mission VV30). They are now flying in tandem formation at an altitude of around 800 km. 🔬 FLEX will observe photosynthesis from space for the first time, thanks to FLORIS, the high-resolution spectrometer developed by Leonardo in Campi Bisenzio (Florence): it will measure photosynthetic activity worldwide and detect early signs of plant stress drought, heat, nutrient scarcity, before visible damage occurs. 🌊🔥 Sentinel-3C will monitor sea and land surface temperature, ocean colour and sea ice thickness with SLSTR, a Leonardo-built radiometer, also capable of detecting wildfires through two dedicated channels. Telespazio played a central role in bringing the missions to orbit and keeping them running: Telespazio Germany led mission control and operations for both satellites, from launch through the Launch and Early Orbit Phase (LEOP) to daily in-orbit management, covering data handling, attitude and orbit control, communications, power and thermal systems. Telespazio France spent several weeks preparing the campaign, planning hundreds of operations across dozens of technical specialties and safely managing high-risk operations around a launcher carrying 170 tonnes of solid propellant. 🎤 Bruno Biagini, Civil Commercial and Business Development - European and International Market at e-GEOS, part of Leonardo Space, joined the Critical Asset Intelligence Forum 2026, hosted in Perth by Space and Earth - Partners and Advisory and powered by the Indo-Pacific Space and Earth Network (IPSEN), with Leonardo as Session Partner. 🛰️ During the conversation, Bruno Biagini explored the potential of integrating different types of data, from #satellite imagery and ground-based sensing to robotics, to support operators in the mining, oil & gas and energy sectors.
