In early 2020, I began gathering all the records I needed to apply for JS. Although my initial plan was to apply through my local consulate, years passed while I was on the waitlist for an appointment. I then started looking into applying in Italy. Obtaining citizenship is a long, complicated legal process- as it should be. It is not a small decision and every case is very different. Silvia, Virginia, Aldo and the team are perfectly suited to navigate the legal, social, cultural landscape. They are consummate professionals. They communicated well. They created a sense of urgency when necessary. I always felt supported. They were patient with my lack of understanding and my endless questions as well. They made me calm when I was anxious. My case was particularly challenging because of my ancestors surname inconsistencies. Still, her team was able to access the appropriate resources to continue moving the process forward. My daughters and I ultimately got our citizenship 7 months after applying in spite of the unique obstacles. They were a one-stop-shopping resource for many of our needs. Mutual trust is also very important throughout this process and they cultivate that every step of the way. Best of all, by the end of the experience, they felt like friends to us. The more I come to know about the process, the more respect I have for all of the things they were able to accomplish for us in a short amount of time- finding accommodations, helping us work with our new landlord, translating, codice fiscale, passports, Italian ID's. This is a team that has resources, problem solves, supports their clients and get things done all while making sure we didn't just feel like a number.
