ACV IS BAD AUCTION
Bought a car on Green light had issues with the 4wheel drive and was not reported. Inspector comes confirms and tells us it is cost worth of about $4,000. ACV pays us only $940 for that and does not even want to get the car back even though NAAA says er $800 you can return or accept reimbursement. ACV did not want to return it because we did not buy their product of $400 which is protection to return a vehicle. Why do I have to pay you for a product when I have valid arbitration claim and you don't want to do anything about it. Don't buy from them it will save you headache and money. They don't care about their dealers they only care about money and products that they want to sell. What a joke.
As a licensed automotive dealer
As a licensed automotive dealer, my experience with ACV Auctions has been extremely disappointing.
I purchased a vehicle through ACV based on the condition report, photographs, and representations provided in the auction listing. When the vehicle arrived, it had significant issues that were either not disclosed or not reasonably visible in the listing materials. After documenting the problems and requesting assistance, ACV refused to stand behind the condition report or provide a satisfactory resolution.
The entire purpose of an online wholesale auction is to give dealers confidence that the information provided is accurate and complete. When that information turns out to be unreliable and the auction company declines to take responsibility, dealers are left absorbing unexpected repair costs and losses.
What concerns me most is not that a mistake may have been made—mistakes happen in every business. The issue is the lack of accountability after the problem was brought to their attention. I expected ACV to review the evidence fairly and honor the representations made in the listing. Instead, my claim was denied, leaving me with little confidence in their buyer protection process.
Based on my experience, I would advise other dealers to thoroughly inspect every ACV purchase and be prepared for the possibility that condition report discrepancies may not be resolved in the buyer’s favor.
I hope ACV improves its dispute resolution process and takes greater responsibility for the accuracy of the vehicles it markets to dealers.
Horrible company to work with
Horrible company to work with. They do not stand being there condition reports and arbitration is worthless. Were have bought a lot of cars from acv and almost everything it is a headache.
First of all
First of all, i do buy from this auction, Sometimes. Its by far the worst auction to buy cars from, their buyer fees are insane, they provide no auto reporting, inspection report is a joke, they make money off of transportation, promising car in 4 day, good luck with that, Ach is a total joke. They have long way to go to catch openlane auction.
$1,700 Delivery, Damaged Vehicle, and a One-Day Delay No Accountability from ACV Auctions
I recently purchased a vehicle out of state and the dealership hired ACV Auctions to have it shipped. ACV Auctions and had it delivered using a third-party carrier they arranged. Unfortunately, the experience was extremely disappointing from both a service and accountability standpoint.
First, the truck arrived damaged. Despite providing documentation, there was little willingness to take meaningful responsibility or make the situation right. ACV Auctions WOULD NOT cover the cost of all the damage, even with photographic proof. What made the situation worse was the handling of the delivery itself. The vehicle was delivered a full day later than the confirmed delivery date, which caused me approximately $1,000 in direct financial loss. I paid $1,700 for delivery with the expectation of reliable scheduling and professional communication. Instead, there was no proactive notification of the delay and no updates that would have allowed me to adjust my plans. If I had not reached out to ACV Auctions I would not have known the delivery was delayed.
When issues arise, communication and resolution matter. In this case, neither met reasonable expectations, especially given the premium cost of the service. The minimal compensation offered did not reflect the financial impact or the overall service failure.
I value straightforward business practices and understand that third-party logistics can be complex. However, when a company arranges delivery, accountability should not be shifted away from the customer.
I hope ACV improves its communication, carrier oversight, and customer resolution process going forward.
I bought thousands of cars on here it…
I bought thousands of cars on here it just keeps going down hill. Arb is worthless they are just denying claims that are actually valid
Example - dodge caravan mobility
Listed with structural alteration and green light
Car arrived knocking very loud very evident. Steering shaking like crazy just a death trap.
Inspector shows up immediately goes holy cow I can hear that from 10 feet away knocking take a video and says yes definitely has bottom end engine noise. Arb comes back Denys claim and sends a rock auto China listing for a rocker like what that’s not even the issue and you send that. Pathetic
Cars are labeled green light but almost always need a transmission or engine
My name is Stafford and I’m a dealer out of Georgia. I’ve had nightmare experiences with this auction. I tried over and over to buy with them but the cars almost always will need an engine or a transmission despite being listed and inspected and labeled a green light car. Please, please stay away because I wouldn’t want any other small dealers to go through what I did. Oh and never use their transportation services because it’ll be weeks before you get your vehicle if at all. Hope this helps someone else.
THE INSPECTORS ARE PAID OFF BY THE SELLERS!!!
THIS AUCTION IS A JOKE. THEIR INSPECTORS ARE PAID OFF BY THE BUYERS TO MAKE IT SEEM LIKE YOU'RE GETTING WHATS IN THE DESCRIPTION BUT YOU'RE NOT. I PURCHASED A 2017 BMW X3 WITH 90K MILES. THE DESCRIPTION SAID GREEN GREEN GREEN BUT THAT IS A LIE. WHEN THE CAR ARRIVED I IMMEDIATELY SMELLED GASOLINE. I DROVE IT TO MY MECHANIC FOR A DIAGNOSTIC AND WHILE DRIVING THE CAR HAD NO POWER! UPON FURTHER INSPECTION, THE MECHAINC SAID THE FULL INJECTORS WERE MELTED INTO THE ENGINE AND THERE WAS A BIG PUDDLE OF OBVIOUS GASOLINE! YOU CAN NOT TELL ME THAT WHEN THE INSPECTOR WENT TO INPECT THIS CAR HE DID NOT SMELL GASOLINE OR FEEL THE CAR HAVING A SEIZURE. IT REQUIRED FUEL RAIL, HIGH PRESSURE FUEL PUMP, SPARK PLUGS AND A HOST OF OTHER THINGS. I SUBMIT THE CLAIM AND FOR THEM TO TELL ME IT DOES NOT MEET THE $800 MINIMUM. THAT IS B.S. CLEARLY THE SELLERS ARE PAYING THE INSPECTORS TO PASS THESE CARS AND ACV IS WELL AWARE AND THEY DO EVERYTHING IN THEIR POWER TO HOLD NO RESPONSIBILTY. I JUST RECEIVED ANOTHER CAR FROM ACV THAT HAS A BLOWN HEAD GASKET. THEIR ABIRTRATION POILICY IS A JOKE. THE TRANSPORTER CAN DROP THE CAR OFF 9 DAYS AFTER YOU PURCHASE AND SOMEHOW THOSE DAYS YOU DO NOT HAVE THE CAR COUNTS TOWARDS YOUR ARBITRATION TIME. NO ONE THERE IS HELPFUL UNLESS THEYRE TRYING TO SELL YOU A CAR 10PM AT NIGHT THAT YOU PUT AN OFFER ON AT 1PM. ILL BE FILING A COMPLAINT WITH THE BBB AS WELL AND CONSUMER AFFAIRS. THEIR ABIRTRATION FEES ONLY BENEFIT THEM AT THE END ITS A COMPLETE PONZI SCHEME. YOU CAN WASTE YOUR MONEY ON THE MOST EXPENSIVE INSURANCE THEY OFFER AND THEY WILL STILL DENY YOUR CLAIM AND NOT UNWIND YOUR DEAL. BY FAR THE WORST AUCTION I HAVE EVER EXPERIENCED.
sell a car with no vim#number and not…

They would prefer to SCAM if you don't care about your money keep buy from these scammers . sold me A bmw with 348 points of heal damaged at the car and after fight them they emailed there is nothing we can do .
their inspection teem is fraud
STAY AWAY FROM THIS AUCTION
STAY AWAY FROM THIS AUCTION! DO NOT RECOMMEND IT TO ANY DEALERSHIP!! Used to be great but after they changed their policies you will just keep losing in every single car you buy from them.
ACV is a SCAM AUCTION!!!!
BEWARE of ACV Auctions! SCAMMER COMPANY!!!! As many of you other dealers are already aware, ACV has turned into a complete CLOWN SHOW! They would prefer to SCAM their customers rather than do proper business. They USED to be a good source to buy inventory. NO MORE! Their transportation services suck, their "customer service" is non existent, title department sucks, and more importantly now ARBITRATION IS A SCAM! They DO NOT HONOR GREEN LIGHTS!!!!!! REPEAT....THEY DO NOT HONOR GREEN LIGHTS!!!!!! Again........THEY DO NOT HONOR GREEN LIGHTS!!!!!! Recently purchased a truck Green Light, it showed up with a BAD TRANSMISSION. Any other reputable auction would have immediately taken the truck back, WITHOUT QUESTION. What does ACV do? They told me to kick rocks because I didn't pay extra for "buyer protection" ... my protection was the GREEN LIGHT! What a JOKE! Their solution was to force me an ach for a tiny "adjustment" which was no where near enough to fix the truck. I've had so many other issues with ACV, but this was the final straw. I'm done. DO YOURSELF A FAVOR AND AVOID ACV AUCTIONS...LIKE THE PLAGUE!!!!!! P.S. Maybe if you didn't scam your customers your stock wouldn't be in the toilet!! :)
ARBITRATION IS A COMPLET SCAM
ARBITRATION IS A COMPLET SCAM , 3 VEHICLE IN A MONTH WITH A BAD ENGINE , THEY HONOR NOTHING
Worst experience buying a car
I recently purchased a vehicle through ACV Auctions, and unfortunately, it was a disappointing experience from start to finish.
The vehicle was sold with a “green light” condition, which implies it’s free from major mechanical issues. However, shortly after purchase, it was found to be leaking oil from multiple components of the engine — something that clearly affects resale value and should never be overlooked in a proper inspection.
I opened a claim through ACV’s arbitration process and was asked to complete three separate inspections, at three different shops, costing me $483.45 out of pocket, not to mention hours of wasted time coordinating shop visits, dropping off the car, and resetting codes. After all that, I was told the issue falls under “normal wear and tear” and that the claim would be denied. If that was the position from the beginning, it should have been communicated after the first diagnostic, not after putting me through unnecessary costs and delays.
To make matters worse, the delivery process was poorly handled. I specifically requested to be notified one hour before delivery, but I received no notice at all. Instead, I suddenly got a notification saying the vehicle was at risk of being towed, and only then did I realize it had already been delivered. The app still showed it as “in transit,” so I had no idea the car had arrived until the situation escalated.
Between the inaccurate condition report, lack of transparency during arbitration, and unprofessional delivery handling, this entire process has been a mess. The vehicle now needs thousands in repairs, and I’ve been left with no meaningful support from the platform.
This was my first time purchasing from ACV, and it will definitely be the last. I’m sharing this review so others know what to expect. Buyers — be cautious. Don’t rely blindly on the green light or arbitration process.
BUYER BEWARE sold a car on there…
BUYER BEWARE sold a car on there platform only to be told 2 weeks later (buyer had the car on there lot) that the buyer no longer wanted the vehicle and that I have to pay to ship the vehicle back. When I asked why and what arb they could not provide an answer and charged my ach. In addition to this I have bought cars on no reserve days waited weeks to then be told the seller decided not to sell or had sold it else where, then proceeds to put $50 in buyer credits as a way to "make up" for it. This once a reliable auction that stood out and was trustworthy is now corrupt and money hungry. Serious legal and ethical concerns regarding titles and paperwork.
Acv dealer success division has ruined acv.
Acv arbitration dealer success division sucks. Unfair, takes no responsibility for anything, flat out tells dealers the CRs they write are junk and they are not responsible.
They sold me a wrecked piece of crap and wants to settle for 2k on 2018 audi sq5 thats going to cost me aorund 7k to repair.
Title: Serious Legal and Ethical Concerns – ACV Auctions No Longer a Trustworthy Dealer Platform
Title: Serious Legal and Ethical Concerns – ACV Auctions No Longer a Trustworthy Dealer Platform
they do not disclose major issues and will not help resolve them This was once a great platform now it 1 big scam BUYER BEWARE
they do not disclose major issues the…
they do not disclose major issues the arbitration does everything to make sure they do not pay out
its feels like a big scam the way they handle the auction now in these days
they deserve a 0 star
Arbitration dept is a huge scam…
Review: ACV Auctions – A Complete Scam Disguised as a Business
If I could give ACV Auctions zero stars, I would. This company operates like a well-packaged scam. They present themselves as a legitimate auction platform, promising “Green Light” guarantees and issue-free vehicles, but in reality, they deceive customers and dodge responsibility at every turn.
This isn’t a one-off experience — it happens all the time. The most recent case for me was the purchase of a 2017 Mercedes-Benz GLS450 got delivered to me through own transportation service with a busted two rear shock absorber balloons. It was listed under their so-called “Green Light” guarantee, claiming no major mechanical issues. But when the vehicle arrived, it had multiple serious problems that clearly existed before the auction. I raised a complaint, expecting them to honor their guarantee, and as usual, they completely threw me under the bus.
Their arbitration process is a complete joke — designed to frustrate buyers until they give up. Instead of standing behind their inspections or holding sellers accountable, they conveniently side with sellers and leave buyers holding the bag.
This company is not only dishonest but borderline criminal in how they operate. Their entire model thrives on misleading buyers and avoiding accountability. Save yourself the financial loss, the frustration, and the betrayal — stay far away from ACV Auctions.
