🚨 Producers, Please Be Cautious: Fraud & Forgery Are Real Fraudsters are everywhere—and sometimes, the level of forgery can be unbelievable. A few years ago, an individual was moving across Mumbai, Delhi, Kolkata and Chennai, approaching producers with a forged company letterhead and my forged signature, claiming to have an authorised approval for a film project. He used forged documents to seek advance payments from producers, presenting the letter as an official approval document. Fortunately, some of the producers he approached happened to be my former clients. They contacted me for verification, and the fraud came to light. We were subsequently compelled to issue a public notice in the newspaper to create awareness within the industry. A message to Producers & Content Partners Please never rely solely on a single-page letter, letterhead or signature as proof of an acquisition approval, commitment or authorisation. At ARHA, we do not encourage or recognise such pre-approval single-page signed documents as a substitute for proper internal processes and authorised agreements. Before making any advance payment or committing your project, please independently verify the document, the person and the approval with the concerned organisation/person through official channels. A few minutes of verification can save lakhs of rupees, valuable time and a great deal of trouble. Don’t fall into such traps. Verify. Cross-check.
