AVOID THIS COMPANY! NEVER EVER SIGN WITH THEM. Read carfuly:

My boyfriend sent them the full medical report and the receipt, but instead of paying the claim, they kept asking for X-rays that were never taken because the treatment did not require them. After more than two months of emails going in circles, he posted about his experience online, check out his claim under the name Samer Akiki.

They replied as if they had never heard of the case and asked him to contact them again, using a polished message and a generic customer-service link.. the very same response they give to fool people into thinking they care.
They then asked again and again for an X-ray that WAS NEVER TAKEN and is not mentioned in the medical report, just to avoid paying the claim.

He has now hired a lawyer, who is confident that the claim is valid and is preparing formal action, including sending an initial legal notice.

NEVER sign with them. They even have a 2.8 out of 5 rating on Google Reviews, which is VERY POOR.

I strongly advise caution when dealing with this travel insurance.

My experience has been very disappointing. A medical claim for emergency treatment abroad was repeatedly delayed and ultimately refused, despite submitting a complete medical report from a licensed doctor.

The insurer repeatedly requested additional documents (such as X-rays and laboratory results) that were not part of the actual medical treatment and did not exist, as the treatment was an emergency wound repair. Despite clearly explaining this several times and resubmitting documents, the claim was still not processed fairly.

The handling of the case has felt overly formalistic and not focused on the actual medical situation, resulting in significant delay and frustration during an already stressful time abroad.

I am currently escalating the matter to the German financial supervisory authority (BaFin) and the insurance ombudsman, and I am considering further legal action due to the lack of resolution.

I cannot recommend this insurer based on my experience with claims handling.

Very poor experience with UKV Krankenversicherung.

I have been a client of UKV since 1992. After permanently leaving Germany in 2014, I no longer had a residence there. UKV was fully aware of my foreign address (first Switzerland, later Portugal). Under German law, the obligation for the private **Pflegepflichtversicherung** ends when leaving Germany unless the policyholder explicitly requests continuation. I never made such a request.

Despite this, UKV continued charging contributions for years without any legal basis. I am now demanding the retroactive termination of the Pflegepflichtversicherung and the reimbursement of roughly €8,000 in wrongly collected contributions.

Even after multiple written requests, the issue remains unresolved. There is also no realistic possibility to speak with a responsible person to clarify the matter quickly. For a customer who has been insured with the company since 1992, this level of administration and customer service is extremely disappointing.

Was quite good at the beginning, but recently the processing time has been increased drastically. In the automatic emails they say, the processing will take 4 weeks, when after 4 weeks you contact them via the chat, they say, the current processing time is 6 weeks, and they don't manage to get back to you even in 6 weeks (which are not mentioned anywhere officially, BTW.)
