Attended a funeral at the Kings Head

Attended a funeral at the Kings Head, Epping..I completed the car registration requirements but three weeks later still got a £100 parking fine )£60 because I paid on 14 days). I tried to make contact to challenge, no reply.

Terrible business model will avoid all Vintage Inns in future!!

We were disappointed this time

We had Sunday dinner at the Bakers Arms in Lytchett Minster this evening. We’ve been visitors to Dorset and to the Bakers Arms for meals for a few years now and the food and service have always been excellent. We were therefore disappointed to be presented with roast dinners that were just about warm and by no means was any part of it piping hot, but appeared to have been kept for some time, possibly under a heat lamp, although the plates were cold (despite being brought along with all the tea towels and warnings of being hot). The pork belly, which normally falls apart, was tough and stringy, the veg was stingy - a bit of cabbage, one floret of broccoli between two of us, and a few peas along with a good size roast half parsnip that I had to finish cutting in half! Some of the roasties were hard inside and overall the meal was distinctly uninspiring. This is a disappointing turnaround from what we’ve been used to over the years, and whilst we ate what we were given, I think we’ll be reluctant to order a Sunday roast there again in the future. The staff, as always, were lovely, smiley and friendly.

The Stables Bishopbriggs - Food Bad, Service Worse.

The Stables, Bishopbriggs, Glasgow.
Had a 20% off food & drink voucher that was due to expire so booked and went for my Wife's birthday, 2 adults, 2 teenagers and a child. It was very quiet which I was surprised about as Sunday evenings I thought would be busy, maybe my review will go along way to explain. Young girl serving took our drinks order, basic drinks not available and when ordered orange and lemonade, it came without lemonade, told them and they brought a lemonade (charged full price for both) - it was actually slammed on table by waitress, no idea why she appeared annoyed.
Ordered food, again some things not available but managed to pick. Asked what the pie of day was, informed it was beef and venison, decided against it only to hear later the table next to us informed it was chicken pie, annoying, exactly what I wanted.
Starters came, 4 out of 5 were way below standard, only the soup my daughter ordered was acceptable.
Cold Tandoori chicken, the mushrooms could only be described as 'rank' the smell was unbearable which I think was coming from whatever cheese had been used and my son's 'garlic bread' was "bread' (cold) and dry. The mains were no better, my hunters chicken (something I've ordered many times) was the worst l've ever had, I couldn't eat it, tasteless, cold and little to no sauce. My son ordered pizza, I think we were all shocked when something that could only be described as a small slice arrived, had to order him additional halurmmi fries as it would never have satisfied him.
As we'd all pretty much had enough, we decided not to order deserts and go somewhere else for ice cream, we asked for the bill which appeared to annoy the waitress again, think it was the fact I had the voucher, I get these as my Dad worked for Bass Brewers for many years and his shares were moved to Mitchell's & Butler.
While waiting on bill the same waitress had a disagreement with table next to us, slamming a glass of milk down on table, they were not happy. Also couple other side of us not happy with bill, sent it back. Our bill came and straight away I could tell it was too high, discovered various drinks not ordered by us, the waitress appeared to take complete annoyance to this, got her jacket and stormed out of restaurant, no idea what was going on but not a good look.
The bill was sorted by a nice gentleman, maybe the manager but in all honesty it was still far too much for what we got, all disappointed, we left. I can honestly say, it'll be the last visit which is honestly so disappointing for a local family.

I had a meal at the Devils D*** I can’t…

I had a meal at the Devils D*** I can’t spell the name in here for some reason (mad) but it’s Vintage inns . You know ! Restaurant yesterday and was very disappointed !
So , I ordered katsu curry - vegan option and the triple cooked chips that state they are vegan ….
My order came with no sweet potato , just sauce with a warm globe of rice .. with some nice garnish , but basically it’s a warm mound of rice and a little sauce . I told one the waiters about this and he said that’s the vegan option ?!
Very weird , it’s always pumpkin or sweet potato the vegan option for this . So , he says he’ll get one of the kitchen staff to come and explain . This lady comes over to say we had ordered the ‘plain katsu’ (we did not) and then explain one of the fryers us down and they couldnt cook the vegan options on the menu and we should’ve been told( we weren’t) and then I say , so my chips arnt cooked separately ????
She said no .
I couldn’t believe it . So , then she offers me something rose off the menu which she says it can only be a side salad or new pots or seasonal greens ?!
Really poor and I had finished my dinner off by then as I was hungry . Still hungry afterwards actually !!!
I just couldn’t believe this had happened and if my friend hadn’t had brought me it I would’ve asked for a refund or kicked up more of a fuss . I won’t be eating here in future , very poor standards . Do better !!!

Dragonfly Newport

Dragonfly Newport; Disappointing again! went on tuesday night for a family meal, waited 30 + minutes for food, (not that busy) had to send back the Fish & chips as the fish was dark brown, fish inside was half yellow! and way over cooked had a worse experience around 2 1/2 years ago at the same venue, fish & chips, couldn't cut the batter with a knife that time and the fish had reduced significantly Did not have a second meal as i will not wait 25/30 for another one and eat alone while the other had long finished theirs, (had hoped they would get it right this time as they have done previously.
The other 3 meals were just okay but small - all different (grown up daughter believed hers to be a child's portion, no applause for the quality of food, Sunday lunches are okay, not great but okay. Staff good and apologetic.
What i do not understand is WHY is the food allowed to leave the kitchen like that? there is no excuse.

Vintage inn rubbish customer service

Booked the Bumblebee near Gloucester for dinner. I was rung and told 15 minutes beforehand they could not honour the booking having taken a £20 deposit. They also said that I needed to cancel my reservation to get my money back
What rubbish service. !!!!!
This is the second time I have been letdown this year. At Valentine’s Day dinner they could not cope with simple requests for my fiancées vegetarian requirements.
Come on guys I have been a customer for years at my local vintage inn.
Do not trust the things you see on the website and their booking system

Thieving Badger …

After a so-so meal at the Badger in Ponteland, Northumberland our server made a mistake in the bill and over charged me £29.00.
Not a life changing sum, admittedly, and have been told by the general manager that I'm not going to get it for 2 weeks! Outrageous!
The 'bank' is to blame, apparently. This being the same organisation who were able to TAKE the money from my account instantaneously but unable to put it back.
Disgraceful!
I have a plan to retrieve it however.
Other people may wish to follow my example and never visit the place again.

Theiving Badger

Last Friday night went to their premises, The Badger, in Ponteland in Northumberland.
While paying the bill we noticed that their server had overcharged me by £29.
A refund slip was given but after nearly a week I still haven't got the money back.
Went in to discuss with their manager, Dan. And his patronising colleague told me it was 'the bank's fault'. The same institutions who, presumably, are able to TAKE a customer's money immediately but unable to refund it.
The food was OK but never going back there. Am about to send Dan an email informing him that I'm going to take legal action in the small claims court to recover my money.
If you decide to visit make sure that the bill is correct before giving them the money because if you don't you may not see it again.

Dietary requirements, Fettykill Fox, Glenrothes.

Just had lunch at the Fettykill Fox in Glenrothes. Very, very disappointed!! I am coeliac and I put this in my booking but when we arrived today I was given a ‘normal’ menu and when I asked about gluten free meals I was given a tablet to look through. When I decided on the fish and chips the waitress told me I couldn’t have it as their fryers aren’t set up for gluten free frying. The batter is GF but you can’t actually order the meal. 🤷‍♀️
I had to have the curry, which I have HAD to have the previous 2 times we have eaten there. I’m done with this restaurant now. We had 4 cokes with our food and they charged £13.60 for them. That’s MORE than 100% mark up. You should be ashamed!!! I wouldn’t touch this place with a barge pole if you are GF. If your a vegan, you’re fine but not if you actually have a dietary requirement.

Food, drink and service 5 star!

Food, drinks, entertainment (Enzo!) and service great - everything exceeded expectations by far at the Five Bells, Weston Turville for our wedding on September 8th evening party. Thanks once again to James and all his team…fabulous occasion, as so many of our guests reiterated.
