Double data entry on a dodgy site.
Nice hotel but they ignore Booking.com booking that you make and take you some off site dodgy portal to charge you card. Looks like some data scam.
So in effect yo have to enter in all your info twice..
as it people have time for this.. thats the whole reason you use booking.com etc.
Great Hotel perfectly positioned
Manchester City centre !!
Great Hotel perfectly positioned, very central with lots of dinning options inside and very close at hand. `Rooms are well appointed and clean.
Breakfast was great and plenty of it.
The staff were first class, friendly and attentive. special shout out to Kareem on reception who sorted out a small issue in a flash.
.All in all I would definitely use again.
Clayton Bristol horrible manager “Gismo”
Had an awful stay at the Clayton Bristol City hotel. The location is great but the water temperature in the room was freezing.
Phoned down and spoke to the night manager “Gismo” who is by far the rudest man I’ve ever met. Had no care for the issue and offered to sort it the following day - helpful when checking out by 11am. Rude, vile man who is clearly in the wrong job.
So helpful
Clayton hotel Cardiff .
Due to another hotel losing our booking we were left stranded in Cardiff on 1 of the busiest night of the year. Staff from previous hotel told us they had secured 2 rooms at the Clayton.
When we arrived it was for 1 room only and we were fed up and exhausted. The staff went above and beyond to help us. Eventually they found a spare single bed and put it in our room. Relief .
Then they gave us complimentary drinks while we waited for our room to be made up and free breakfast .
The lovely staff did not have to do any of this for us. We are so grateful and will stay at this hotel for all future visits to Cardiff.
The check in was through two machines…
The check in was through two machines that do didn’t work When we achieved our room it wasn’t “deluxe” as advertised. The next morning we went down for our 4.30 pick up but it had already gone. When we asked what we should do we were told walk or get an Uber. My husband had had recent open heart surgery but that had no effect. We walked to terminal two. No response fromClayton staff.
Unimpressed
Arrived at the Clayton Hotel in Cork on a tour of beautiful Ireland. Husband specifically booked a hotel with a balcony so we could sit out of an evening. This room cost a lot more than a standard room. However when we got to room we found a sign on door to balcony stating we could only have access if we knock on the next door's room and get access somehow to our balcony! SO NOT IMPRESSED. Will be asking for a refund as really only paying for standard room.
I have to say that my recent experience…
I have to say that my recent experience at this hotel was nothing short of appalling. From the moment I interacted with Ross on the night desk, it became clear that he is completely ill-equipped to handle the role he has been given. His attitude was not only passively aggressive but also dismissive, unhelpful, and frankly, incompetent. It is astonishing that someone with such a lack of professionalism and basic customer service skills could be trusted to manage the front desk during any shift, let alone the night shift when guests are most vulnerable to needing assistance.
To make matters worse, the security guard on duty was no better—completely cut from the same cloth. Rude, unapproachable, and utterly disinterested in helping guests, he only added to what quickly became one of the worst hotel experiences I have ever had. At no point did I feel like a valued guest; instead, I was made to feel like an inconvenience for simply expecting the minimum level of courtesy and professionalism.
While this hotel may be inexpensive, that should never justify such shocking behavior or such a lack of basic service standards. Cheap rates do not excuse rudeness, incompetence, or an environment that makes paying customers feel unwelcome and unsafe.
I will never stay at this hotel again and strongly advise anyone considering it to look elsewhere. There are plenty of other hotels that understand the meaning of customer service and guest care. Do yourself a favor and avoid what was, for me, a horrific and deeply disappointing experience.
I stayed in the Clayton hotel
I stayed in the Clayton hotel, Leopardstown, Sandyford Dublin. I was attending a hospital appointment. The hotel room temperature was 28 degrees no air conditioning. I was just given a fan. I didn't sleep all night felt very ill as a result. I will never stay there again. No fridge in room either for drinks. This hotel is out of date and not fit for purpose. Staff were unfriendly and not helpful either i heard loads of other people coming up complaining about their room. Please do not stay too there. What I paid versus what service I got was so so bad😞
clayton hotel at liffey valley
Stayed at the clayton hotel at liffey valley dublin and I have to say that the staff can not do enough for you. Sarah Jane in the restaurant was outstanding and always very happy and smiling. She is an attribute to the company and deserves a lot of praise. Thank you very much Sarah Jane
Rooms are uncomfortably hot during the summer
I booked the airport hotel. While the hotel and staff were lovely, the room I booked was uncomfortably hot and made it difficult to sleep. I raised this with the manager, who pointed out that the lack of air conditioning is mentioned on the website and that fans are available on request. However, for a 4-star hotel, I expected better climate control without having to ask. Future guests should be aware of this—I'm sure it's more comfortable in cooler months.
One to avoid as mis sold
I stayed in the Clayton in cardiff with my wife and son and booked 2 executive rooms. I was given rooms 922 and 925 not executive rooms as these were on the 10th floor. So conned. The corridor had a horrible smell the rooms were dirty and dark the bed very small more like a large single and the bed and chairs very worn One room looked at a wall the other had a small window in the corner. The bathroom was clean but in need of replacement very tatty. The bar and restaurant were much better but expensive I booked a drinks package but was told in company this could not be the case as it was only for special occasions quite embarrassing the reception apologised and told me this was wrong and refunded me for it. I am left feeling disappointed and conned. My recommendation is stay somewhere else.
Friendly staff
⭐⭐⭐⭐
Comfortable Stay in a Great Location
Stayed at Clayton Hotel recently my room was clean, and the bed was ok . Staff were friendly and helpful. Great location near the city centre. Only downside was a bit of a wait at check-in and breakfast.
Rooms very dated
Rooms very dated. Television didn’t work 3 x attempts by staff to get it working. Offered a change of room at 11:45pm 🤦♀️ can’t remember when I stayed in a hotel with a shower over the bath and a shower curtain 😂 but staff very friendly and professional. Restaurant staff lovely no complaints. Hotel needs a refurb. But very clean so cleaning staff doing a good job. No complaints with staff but defo needs to be upgraded better hotels in the area. delta, tribe x
Daylight robbery
I booked a room with Clayton Hotel Cardiff Lane, and they cancelled it almost immediately after I paid. I never received a refund, despite emailing them for weeks with no response. Eventually, I had to dispute the charge through Revolut and got my money back — only for Clayton Hotels to dispute the refund and take the money back again, even though I never stayed there and they provided no service whatsoever.
This is completely unacceptable and feels like theft, plain and simple. Avoid this hotel group at all costs — unresponsive, unprofessional, and clearly have no issue keeping your money without delivering anything in return.
Superb experience at Clayton Hotel…
Superb experience at Clayton Hotel Manchester and special thanks to Michaela for going the extra mile
I rated the Clayton Hotel as excellent…
I rated the Clayton Hotel as excellent because we held our wedding in their restaurant. Everything was perfectly set up, thanks to TJ, the Meetings and Events Coordinator, who demonstrated meticulous planning and attention to detail. Our guests and I were very pleased with the service provided by Steven, who was highly professional. The food was well-presented and delicious. We would highly recommend the Clayton Hotel for any event. Thank you for making our wedding day so special!
Naff restaurant
Hotel very nice. But the meal in the restaurant was disappointing. We had paid in advance for a 2 course meal even though it was very expensive. Paid extra for the steak and found that I should have saved my money. What can I say, it was disappointing. I will not be eating here again that’s for sure.
Clayon Hotel, Belfast
A hotel that's punching way above it's weight price wise.
For over £160 for a single night including breakfast I found the accommodation lacking. Sheets were clean and breakfast was good (hence 2 stars) but the room itself was in need of updating. Quite rundown/patched in places.
Soundproofing between rooms was terrible. I could clearly hear the occasional cough and a sneeze from next door.
Bathroom was grotty (some mouldy sealant around bath, cracked toilet and unsavoury shower curtain (yes, a bath and shower curtain and not a proper shower for that price!).
I have stayed at better Travelodge's at half the price in as good a locations.
Oh, and I never did manage to get a receipt from them.
Clayton Hotel Ballsbridge – Restaurant Team
I stayed at the Clayton Hotel Ballsbridge during a recent business trip and was thoroughly impressed by the service, especially from Victor and his team in the restaurant.
Victor was exceptional – professional, welcoming, and consistently attentive throughout my stay. He and the staff created a warm, efficient dining experience that made a real difference during a busy work schedule. The level of service, attention to detail, and friendly atmosphere were second to none.
Thank you to Victor and the entire restaurant team for making my stay that much more comfortable and enjoyable. I’ll certainly be returning on future trips.
Clayton Hotel Manchester - No thanks
Clayton Hotel Manchester - GIVE IT A WIDE BERTH. Rooms are fine but food and drink is appalling (that's if they even have any drinks). Hidden extras all the way, shuttle, although you have to pay to use them it does not guarantee you a place on your requested time. Parking at £30 for an overnight stay???? I was a club member but after this shower made my stay an absolute nightmare and then suffered extra costs I will not be staying again. Check out Tribe, the new hotel, much more professional.
