Beautiful website, dead plants and disappointing customer services

I bought some items from Gardens4you in May, I've always wanted some white standard roses and bought two at 19.99 each from the site. The picture on the website showed beautiful, full, flowering plants, so I was slightly taken aback - but ever hopeful - when the plants arrived - two 'sticks' with further small sticks on the top. I followed the instructions exactly, they arrived bare rooted, I was very careful with them, gave them 5 star treatment, planted into containers, left both by the door and checked regularly with the optimism of a new gardener hoping for a bud, a hint of green, but no growth, no hint of a bud nothing, just spiders grateful for a twig framework - again, ever hopeful, I kept hoping for a miraculous improvement, checked the soil, consulted the planting instructions and gardening books to see if I had done something wrong -but no, I had to concede that these plants did not arrive dormant but the other 'd' word - I reached out to Gardens4You on the 19th July to ask what to do - as I assumed that there would be some sort of a guarantee on their plants - which was now in exactly the same condition as it arrived - a dried stick - I received an email today advising that they 'received your request after the guarantee period had expired. Once the guarantee period has ended, we are no longer able to offer replacements or refunds for plants that have failed to establish' - so buyer beware, 40 euro for two small sticks is a costly lesson and I will not be buying from Gardens4You again, they don't stand over their products.

Quality and service has reduced a lot, despite years of buying from them.

Hi there,
I have been shopping with Gardens4you for years now. However, I wont be any longer. The shrubs are now thrown into pots that don't actually fit them any longer, needing t.l.c. to help them recover and I am finding that at least 15% of all shrubs now ordered either have already died or don;t make it despite trying to help them. I contacted them after one of my last delivered about a tree and a shrub. One of them was a bare root and of course needing to be re invigorated. Both however were dead. I broke the stems / branches and even those at the root, were brown and dead. No life at all. I sent these photos to Gardens4you and they told me...of they will be fine, just plant them and they will recover. I explained that I knew my plants and they WOULD NOT. But, I indulged them and planted them and allowed time for them, watering, feeding and aware of wind conditions etc. I contacted them this week and they have the cheek to reply, oh you're now outside if the window for refund and there's nothing further we can do. This, matched with the packing issues and a lowering of the quality of shrubs, makes me look elsewhere. (Also their delivery charges are silly!) Look elsewhere would be my advice...and it's a shame as I still have hundreds to spend and plant:( Claire Ireland.

Stay clear - scam company.

I would give this company minus stars if it were possible. Appalling customer care service. Ordered online, then got an email from the delivery service to say the delivery was taking place the following day. Followed the tracking. The delivery never arrived. Then the delivery status changed to say it was being rescheduled then it changed again to say it was delivered - which it wasn't. Contacted customer care, opened a case, gave them everything they asked for. Asked them to provide proof of delivery as it said it was signed for - which it wasn't. No refund received just a thread of emails with excuses. Stay clear.

I didn't even want to give any Star and…

I didn't even want to give any Star and would remove it if I could. Terrible experience. Shrub I bought online never grew. It was obviously dead when they sent it! They won't replace or refund it. Expiry was April! Seriously !! The plant they sent in February was dead! I nursed a dead plant! Now while it should be bearing fruit, its more obvious that it is dead and was always dead.....not dormant like I presumed in February

Avoid this company

The plants I bought were half the size of what was advertised. Several of the plants died but the company refused to honor their No grow guarantee. Their customer care leaves a lot to be desired. Avoid this company at all cost.

Fine considering pricing

⁸Reading some reviews after I ordered made me worry a bit. But surprise, surprise all good. Ordered 11 plants to Ireland. Plants indeed small but it is said on website what pot size there are in, for that price I was not expecting any better to be honest. Delivery took 8 days but I ordered Friday after working hours so they only shipped it Monday next week which makes sense and package arrived Friday so effectively delivery took 5 days. All plants in pots with wet soil, not dried, looking live and kicking, one plant had roots wrapped in foil, not in pot with soil , still roots a bit wet (tree),now soaking in a bucket of water before planting. Now fingers crossed snails will not eat them before they grow lol (some are very tasty for snail especially when small). Just for the sake of being safe I replanted hyndrangeas to bigger pots to plant them in autumn to the ground , as I might not notice them whem mowing the grass , sure snails would find them ;-)

Can't reccomend

Plants were in poor condition on arrival, one plant was less than 40% of its stated height. Customer service wouldn't even address this issue. Half of the plants survived. Cheap price but a waste of money. Customer service process too lengthy and too much hassle for cheap plants. Won't use again.

Misselling

I bought 10 plants as part of a collection on offer. The plants are coming from Holland but arrived reasonable ok. They were a bit battered but recovered well. Overall the plans were small but one in particulate was tiny and I will be an old man before that bears fruit. I brought this to their attention but they claim, incorrectly, that this was the advertised height and were not willing to address the issue. It was a case of misselling in my opinion

Takes too long

It takes far too long from order shipping. And then another ion with fedex. I won’t order again unless it’s for next year’s garden

Very poor quality of plants

Very poor quality of plants. I wish I had looked for reviews before ordering. Luckily I placed a smaller order before placing a larger order to check the quality. Buy cheap, buy twice. Id avoid if considering ordering

Absolutely SHOCKING service

Absolutely SHOCKING service. Ordered a gift set of bonsai tree with ceramic pot for a friend. It was delivered with the pot smashed and the bonsai roots in a state where they simply would not survive. I requested a replacement- DENIED. I requested a refund- DENIED. The only offer I got was a discount on purchase- WHEN HELL FREEZES OVER. AVOID AT ALL COSTS

I don't recommend it. I ordered a yellow Christmas Schlumbergera. They sent me a pink one. All three Christmas cacti! I haven't received a response to my two emails.

A hugely disappointing experience...

A hugely disappointing experience with gardens4you.ie!

I received the packages on the 8th day after they were shipped. On Friday, when I was supposed to receive them (but didn't), I contacted the sender via email. I received no response.

After opening the packages, I saw everything in a terrible state. Some of the plants were dry, and the soil was extremely dry. In other pots, the soil was very wet, some of it had leaked out, and the plants were already rotting. The large plant in the second package had every leaf damaged. And these were large leaves, so the damage was very unsightly. It was supposed to be a gift for someone, but unfortunately, it can't be...

I submitted a complaint via email, but I haven't received a response for several days.

I see that this company's business model is simply this: buy, get what you get, forget about contacting us, and definitely forget about a refund. Business ethics, as you can see, is an abstract concept...

I definitely won't be ordering any plants from gardens4you.ie again!

I also definitely don't recommend this store to anyone else!

And I see I'm not alone in this...
