I had great service
I had great service. I will not change this bank.
I would give it zero
I would give it zero, the service is absolutely awful. Give yourselves at least an hour to wait at the Wiesbaden branch for simple transactions. Every single time. And no one gives a shit.
Very good banking service and felixible
Worst bank experience I had after dealing with Banks in 4 countries.
I applied for opening account to get my corporate shares 18/07/2025. Today is 06/10/2025 - account is still not opened.
1) After 2 months, They lied that they contacted to me trying to put responsibility on me.
2) After I sent additional info that was requested, and another week of silence I wrote once again if they can confirm they got my info. they wrote back that now they are missing my opening account form which was sent 18/07/2025.
3) all this communication is going through regular email instead of some web page form or app where it would be possible to see status and data attached which can eliminate issues with application forms and data missing.
4) every time it is me trying to find what is wrong with their opening account procedure.
The only reason I am dealing with them is my employer works with them.
Hope they carry money better then opening accounts.
Forty years+ as a loyal client.... joke
After more than forty years as a loyal client, Commerzbank abruptly cancelled both my private and business accounts without explanation and ignored all my objections.
From the outside, the decision looks less like an individualized review and more like a “de-risking” exercise — a compliance shortcut where long-standing customers are pushed out because they are seen as low-revenue or potential AML risks.
This is absurd, since regulators themselves have warned banks not to hide behind de-risking and algorithms, and the real money-laundering dangers usually lie with large-volume clients, not small customers such as me.
Instead of engaging with me or even replying, the bank simply shut my accounts on the date it had set, leaving me unable to transact.
In short, Commerzbank maximizes profit and cancels service completely, even in such situations.
The strategy of Commerzbank’s top management obviously means that, for all intents and purposes, there is no longer a customer who is banking with Commerzbank — and if this is the future of banking, one can only hope that such banks cease to exist soosn, going forward.
I would give -50 stars if it was…
I would give -50 stars if it was possible. After being a loyal customer for 13 years with a giro account, I was forced into a Business account and locked out of my accounts repeatedly over and over. I have literally never dealt with this level of incompetence before. 10 visits to a bank 30 minutes from my house, numerous phone calls, and over 20 hours of work to try to just shut down this damn account and no one can actually get it right. Its endless and shockingly bad. So many lost hours of my life with no apologies for taking all my time and messing up so many times. Over and over and over.
If I could give minus stars, I would
Having been customers for 4 Generations we have never had an issue - until the Commerzbank decided to close our daughters account. Despite numerous queries and complaints we were told "we do not give explanations for why we close accounts". I am beyond disgusted and if I could give minus 5 stars I would.
This is not to say they haven't been great previously, but this decision will cause us to leave the bank and take our money elsewhere.
incompetence at its best …
incompetence at its best …. everything here is outdated …IT systems & online banking are like a joke
on top of all these, horrendous customer service!
Shameful system and customer service
About 2cweeks waiting, falling and sending many documents but finally I got a mail that the rules of their bank not allowed to open account for a foreigner. . There was no problem about my documents, after that I opened the account by Sparkasse, with no problem. Wasting my time and leaving me in a shok and just saying that was a mistake, just throw out or remove all paper and mails.. shameful!
legalized scam run by incompetents who treat customers like trash
I wish I could give minus 5 stars. I have lived in different countries all over Europe and dealt with banking and their customer service. Commerzbank has the WORST, the WORST customer service I have ever experienced in my life. A simple question took me one hour of waiting in line, the line being disconnected and having to call again, the people who have attended me were just as grey and grumpy and depressing as the weather. I am faster going to a commerzbank office that is 4 hours driving distance then having to call. What an absolute nightmare. Dealing with this bank is like being trapped in a bureaucratic escape room where the staff holds the keys and laughs at you. This bank is a disgrace. Their customer service is a black hole of incompetence, their systems belong in a museum of failure, and their staff act like doing the bare minimum is an Olympic sport they always lose. Every interaction feels like punishment. If you value your time, money, or sanity, avoid this bank like the plague
OK if your expectations are low
Everything works when it works (10 years experience), but God help you if something goes wrong. Nobody seems to know what is going on. I got answers from customer service through the app, but I kept getting cut off, and every time I called back, I got a different answer. I went to the branch, where they made me wait outside for 20 minutes during opening hours. At least I got a chance to stare at a helpdesk phone number that is not made available online in case someone calls it. Branch staff has essentially the same access to your accounts that you have, so they didn't know anything. When I asked about a savings account, they agreed that the rates are not competitive.
🛑 UPDATE
🛑 UPDATE: Post-closure manipulation and digital lockout
Datum der Erfahrung: 31. Juli – 5. August 2025
After personally closing my account on 31 July 2025 at the Friedrichstraße branch — and handing in all cards + signing multiple forms — I still never received written confirmation of the closure. Despite my clear request for a copy, nothing was given to me. All documents were kept, and no names or contact details were shared by the staff.
Now, days later, I receive automated emails from Commerzbank saying “You have a new document in your online postbox” — but I already deleted the app, and I no longer have online access. They expect me to log into a system I no longer use to retrieve documents I shouldn't even need after a closure.
No transparency. No courtesy. No real closure.
And if this “new document” turns out to be some hidden fee, it will confirm exactly what many other reviewers are saying: that Commerzbank is untrustworthy, withholding, and intentionally opaque when it comes to customer offboarding.
I've now had to send a formal letter by post just to demand a simple written statement of account closure — which should’ve been automatic on the day I left.
There is no valid reason for a customer to be treated this way.
🛑 Terrible experience after 16 years as a customer.
One of the worst banks I’ve ever dealt with.
I opened my account over 16 years ago, and one day I suddenly lost access to it. When I visited the branch, I was shocked to find that my personal details had been changed without my knowledge, and my age was listed as under 18!
Later, my partner and I opened a joint account. Since then, we've had constant issues: no one can send us money, and every transaction fails. We've visited the bank multiple times and called them, but they always say, “There’s no problem on our side.”
In the branch, they tell us, “Someone will call you within 24 hours.” But no one ever calls.
There is no clear email contact, and when we send emails, we never receive a reply.
Eventually, we decided to close our accounts because it became clear that this bank is completely unreliable.
Also, the app is difficult to use for international customers because some parts don’t support English.
My experience with Commerzbank is kafkesque
My experience with Commerzbank is Kafkaesque. For two months now, Commerzbank has been blocking me from accessing my online banking. When I left Germany, I asked at a branch to change my address and enter the new one in Italy. The teller said they had done so, but in reality, Commerzbank kept my address in Germany, for some unknown reason. When they changed the login method to the new photo TAN, they sent the activation brief to my old address in Germany, so the letter was lost. So far, it's been two months of exhausting phone calls, failed procedures, PIN requests, auto-identification. I've tried a thousand things, and NOTHING WORKS. It seems so simple: Commerzbank sends a new activation brief to my new address! But NO, this simple operation is IMPOSSIBLE, and as of today, I've been unable to access my online banking for TWO MONTHS. I can't even go to a branch because I have to book an appointment through online banking. Having problems with Commerzbank is a nightmare. There are no other words to describe the feeling. Things that should be solvable become huge problems, wasting time and days of work.
Super complicated
Everything is super compicated.
It was complicated to open it up, to get it to work.
And when I got so frustrated that I wouldnt want to use it took me months to get rid of the account. All in all it just takes a lot of energy to deal with this company, not recommended.
"(None) Customer Service"
1/5
Im waiting for my TAN activation letter for 4 months. i come to this this filiale every week, noone did absolutly niothing to help me, i only hear "its on the way" every time. I dont have access to my own bank account for 4 months already.
Bank is legally OBLIGATED to give customers access to their own bank account. its completly NOT acceptable!
Im moving to new bank : NEVER AGAIN!
DONT GET FOOLED BY COMMENTS ON GOOGLE. MY COMMENT ON GOOGLE WAS REMOVED TWICE!!
Warning
Warning: they make it difficult to close an account.
They raised their prices so I decided to close my account. I had to send 2 registered letters to close my account, and in time, they collected 2 months of fees.
NOT SAFE!
NOT SAFE!
Now this is my experience with Commerzbank over the last 3.5 years.
My roommate has sent me a link to register for a Girokonto and as such she was supposed to receive 100€ and I 50€ as a new member - after 3.5 years and numerous questions which none are answered both of us received NOTHING.
On 2.04.2025 I have received notification that more than 600€ was taken from my account - I reported everything to the bank, filled all documents for Reklamation and fled a case to police. Credit card and pin never arrived to my postbox and was sent in the same day which gives zero security. How do I know that? I have called them and told them to NEVER send any credit cards to my address against but to leave it in their Filiale and I will PERSONALLY pick it up. After few days of my request - new credit cards and pin arrived again on the same day and I have reported that to the bank.
Since 02.04.2025 I have called almost every week to check status of my Reklamation - no answer.
Last 2 weeks of calling I have received these answered - “there’s no one here that can help you today, none of our representatives who speak English are here, try calling tomorrow. They told me I will receive a response via post - it’s been almost 3 months - NOTHING. I have never received any money and would NEVER recommend it to other people because it’s unsafe to keep any money in their bank. Since that day both my roommate and I check our bank accounts every 2-3 days so we can monitor activities. If it happens again what will the bank do - ABSOLUTELY NOTHING. No safety measures whatsoever. To keep everything transparent I will attach a picture of stolen money and reference number of my case which is: 425119002052
Rufen Sie bitte morgen wieder an.“
Vermutlich nichts.
Keine Sicherheitsmaßnahmen, keine Verantwortung.
Zur Transparenz: Der Referenznummer meines Falles lautet: 425119002052.
I had horrible experience with…
I had horrible experience with Comerzbank customer service in Germany. Cant believe such a big bank in Germany but having such impolite employees, especially the Filiale in Ostbahnhof, Munich, Germany. The hotline is not better.
